Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Thirty thousand battles, with the Dominator having adjusted the timeline within the Challenge Space, it truly wouldn’t take much time.

The intensity of the battles was very high. Continuously facing over three hundred powerful experts who had passed numerous trials was a substantial test even for Sequence-class experts. But just like the forging of strengthened steel, only experts who have gone through multiple challenges are worthy of the Sequence title.

About an hour later, the white light outside began to grow sparse, and another hour or so passed before the voice of the Golden Armor rang in the ears of the crowd.

”The challenge has ended, and the 100 members of the Sequence have been born. Here is the detailed list: Sequence Number 1: Tang Haofei. Sequence Number 2: Wen Yu. Sequence Number 3: Walter...”

After reading through the hundred names one by one, Wen Yu felt somewhat familiar with some of the names on the list.

Roughly 30% of the original Sequence remained; the rest were strangers. Yet Tang Haofei, who was standing next to him, chimed in.

”Out of them, 82 belong to the powerful warriors of Yanjing.”

There weren’t many dark horses, and even if there were, it was likely experts Lin Haifeng had hidden away. Given the power and influence of the Yanjing Assembly Site, the development speed of Independents was indeed greatly lagging behind compared to military experts.

The internal resource allocation, help of stronger experts by orders, and the vast intelligence network—these were resources not available to Independents. Without astonishing luck, at this stage, the development speed varies significantly between those with a backing power and those without a backing power.

”Lin Haifeng did a good job.”

Wen Yu had to commend Lin Haifeng’s methods—as there were 82 Sequence-class experts, genuinely without any water weight. If Tang Haofei and Wen Yu hadn’t kept Lin Haifeng’s power in check, he might have soared to unimaginable heights by now.

”And then there’s this Carmille, right? Isn’t she one of yours?”

Upon hearing the familiar name, Wen Yu shook his head. Carmille, this woman, once had some connection with Wen Yu, but gradually, their contact faded, and now they might just be a step above strangers at best.

Akad, however, had a closer relationship with Wen Yu—ever since Wen Yu helped Akad break the Soul Connection with Ye Nan, Akad owed Wen Yu a big favor. Although Akad had been somewhat erratic, one had to admit, this guy valued his debts heavily. It seems he’s now with the official team of Britain, and he even sends Wen Yu a postcard during holidays.

That’s how relationships are formed...

As for Bai and Ye Nan.

Those two truly had impressive strength. In Wen Yu’s perspective, Bai certainly had the power to snag the Sequence Number 3 position, but their names weren’t on the list.

It seems Bai has some concerns and prefers not to show himself publicly.

This is what the list meant to Wen Yu and Tang Haofei—to find familiar old faces and reminisce about past glorious days...

In other words, these people belong to the past; they don’t belong to the present, or even the future. Both reborners had absolute confidence in themselves, not believing anyone could surpass them. From the beginning to the end, they regarded each other as their only rival.

After a brief conversation with Tang Haofei, the voice of the Golden Armor rang in their ears once more.

”The Sequence Member-Ranking Battle is officially starting. Here are the challenge rules.”

”Any Sequence member can challenge a higher-ranked member but only has three chances to do so. Once these three chances are used up, they can only passively accept challenges from others. Furthermore, those with a higher Sequence number cannot actively challenge those with a lower Sequence number.”

”The ranking battle employs a single duel mode, with the venue located in the main arena of the Million Victories Arena. Only one battle will take place at any given time.”

”Live broadcasts will now begin, and all lifeforms on Earth can view the live broadcast of this Sequence ranking battle on top of the Exchange Stone Pillars. To promote the prestige of professionists and defend the dominance of the Human Race on Earth, all Sequence members are requested to perform valiantly and forge an unprecedented reputation!”

As soon as Golden Armor finished speaking, points of white light rose from all the Exchange Stone Pillars worldwide. These lights entangled, fused, and then transformed into a high-definition light screen, displaying the entire scene of the Million Victories Arena.

”Why does it feel like we’re being treated like performing monkeys...”

Wen Yu squinted and voiced his complaints. Although those in the world who were significant figures understood how powerful Wen Yu was, it felt odd to lay his strength bare before all creatures.

Furthermore, this time was supposed to be the pinnacle duel between him and Tang Haofei, something sacred and solemn. Golden Armor’s arrangement made the whole Sequence Member-Ranking Battle resemble a low-tier fighting competition.

”The Dominator is probably showing their fists,”

Tang Haofei had his own speculation.

”How so?”

”Just a guess.”

Tang Haofei adjusted to a more comfortable sitting position.

”The Human Race is the only race on this world capable of using the Exchange Stone Pillars, and you know the extent of the Dominator’s control over the Human Race. In other words, Humans are the weapons and tools of the Dominator. But it’s different with other creatures on Earth.”

”For most professionists, whose command is more effective, the Dominator’s or Earth’s will?”

With just that, Wen Yu fell into thought, and after a while, said uncertainly, ”Probably the Dominator.”

”Yes, most professionists would choose the Dominator because he can take away everything they hold dear at any time. In this situation, if the Dominator commands, the professionists would indeed comply without hesitation, but mutant creatures are different.”

”When I met Earth’s will this time, I discovered something interesting. The Sea Clan and the Insect Tribe—they can’t merely be described as revering Earth’s will. They’re absolute fanatics! Even if Earth’s will ordered them to die right now, I believe they would do it without flinching. But Humans are different... very different.”

”Walter and Ye Nan aren’t much interested in Earth’s will... so I have this hypothesis: Humans belong to the Dominator faction, while mutant creatures belong to Earth’s will faction. These two factions are incompatible. We humans are the Dominator’s chosen enforcers, while mutant creatures are Earth’s will-appointed Guardians of Earth.”

Tang Haofei tapped the table with his index finger.

”It’s just a hypothesis, but if the truth is indeed like my guess, then perhaps some unknown conflict has already arisen between Earth’s will and the Dominator. There’s still too little information.”

After speaking, Tang Haofei fell silent. The two sat in contemplation, and after some time, they both burst out laughing.

”They can show their fists, does it have anything to do with us...”

”Yeah, does it relate to us in any way...”

Wen Yu and Tang Haofei are different from others. If others are indifferent or powerless about these top-tier conflicts and can only find a power figure to rely on, Wen Yu and Tang Haofei have already transcended that level. Now, what they ponder is not whose tools to be but how to step off the chessboard. Not necessarily to become the chess master, but at least to have control over their own fate.

Wen Yu wants to acquire the tiered battle ground to break free from the Dominator’s control—this has already shown potential, and Tang Haofei is surely planning something similar.

It’s challenging, but given their strength, it’s not an unattainable goal.

This is, roughly, what vision means.
