Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

As the heatwaves rolled, Tang Haofei looked left and right, trying to find traces of Earth’s will, but he was disappointed.

Everything here was no different from his memory.

”Are you sure it’s here?”

Facing Tang Haofei’s questioning, the Demigod only shook his head, signaling Tang Haofei to wait a moment.

About ten minutes later, just when Tang Haofei was growing impatient, the ground suddenly began to tremble slightly.

This tremor was extremely faint; even with Tang Haofei’s abilities, he could only vaguely sense it, to say nothing of the others—who still stood to the side with eyes lowered, calm and respectful, waiting.

As the trembling continued and the ground slowly began to shed specks of white light, the Demigod’s eyes finally lit up; he said to Tang Haofei, ”It’s here.”

Then, Tang Haofei watched the white light on the ground continuously gather, eventually condensing into a small orb radiating white glow.

It was exactly the same as the orb in his memory. With just one glance, Tang Haofei knew what this thing was for—the second memory image. At the same time, the incomparably familiar aura on it made it clear to Tang Haofei whose handiwork this was.

By this point, Tang Haofei no longer had the slightest doubt—this was the work of Earth’s will.

A voice of indiscernible gender suddenly sounded by his ear.

”My child...”

The voice was low and ethereal, yet contained another kind of Soul Terrorizing magic. Under its influence, Tang Haofei instinctively grasped the memory light orb that had surfaced from the ground, and then everything before his eyes began to blur.

...

The experience was exactly the same as last time: Soul Leave Body, then being yanked into some strange Illusion.

Well aware of what was happening now, Tang Haofei was not surprised. He simply waited in silence. After a while, when light and shadow appeared before his eyes, Tang Haofei immediately focused his attention and quickly looked around.

Everywhere he looked was devastation—broken walls and shattered ruins...

A desolate wind howled up, the whole land seemingly already bereft of life. The distant mountains looked as if some dog had gnawed them, half-collapsed; aside from Tang Haofei himself, there was no one else around.

The air was filled with an intensely pungent stench of decay; the concentration of Demonic Qi was so high that even Tang Haofei felt a trace of discomfort—perhaps only because the owner of this body was too weak.

In short, there was no need for any narration; Tang Haofei already understood how awkward the situation in this Illusion was.

This was Earth, Earth on the verge of destruction.

Old Tang slowly bent down and scooped up a handful of sand and soil from the ground. The sand trickled down between his fingers, yet it lacked the various essential elements needed to nurture life...

Microorganisms, rare elements, nutrients... none of these were present. This sand was merely sand, nothing more.

”Hoo...”

Tang Haofei exhaled a muffled breath, raised his head to look at the sky, and a voice that sounded like he was talking to himself came from his mouth: ”So, what is it you want me to see this time...”

No one answered Tang Haofei’s question, not until the sky above his head suddenly split open and a hazy black Shadow appeared at the edge of the heavens.

”Die!”

The majestic, vast tone resounded across the sky; then the Shadow raised its right hand, and a grayish light suddenly burst forth from its fingertip.

The light shot out and struck the ground not far in front of Tang Haofei. As he watched the gray light pierce straight through the earth’s surface, Tang Haofei only narrowed his eyes, carefully scrutinizing the figure at the edge of the sky.

That was Wen Yu... Mm, not because of the appearance, only partly due to some vague sense, but mainly because of Wen Yu’s voice.

Not the slightest bit different from his impression...

Tang Haofei’s lips slowly curved into a faint smile, but his gaze grew colder and colder.

It was precisely because of his own strength that Tang Haofei could feel the power contained in this one strike of Wen Yu’s.

This was a height he could not reach even if he experienced Rebirth ten more times! This was a blow capable of destroying heaven and earth!

The ground beneath his feet suddenly shuddered, and in an instant, sand and dust billowed up. Vast yellow sand rose into a Tornado, as if it wanted to cleanse everything in the world. And this was only the beginning.

The earth’s trembling grew more and more violent until the ground suddenly split open. Countless cracks appeared out of thin air and then widened further and further. These fissures were like black holes that devoured everything, attempting to tear apart the Star and annihilate all that existed.

Vaguely, Tang Haofei seemed to hear a mournful wail coming from beneath his feet, and a flood of complex emotions, painful to the core, suddenly surged up in his heart...

Sympathy between fellow sufferers? No, this was merely the resonance between Earth’s will and its Zi Xu...

”Die! Die for me!!!”

The voice that shook the heavens erupted once more, brimming with fury, and then another strike descended from the sky, falling from the previous impact point down into Earth’s nucleus.

And then, all things came to an end...

His vision gradually pulled back; Tang Haofei’s Soul slowly retreated, until he withdrew from the atmosphere, until he saw the whole of Earth.

The once pale blue planet had long since turned a dusty yellow; the entire Star radiated a thick aura of twilight. The two successive terrifying attacks just now had completely punched through Earth. At this moment, layers of crust were constantly peeling off from Earth’s surface; it would probably take less than a day for the entire Earth to crumble into dust scattered through the sky.

Yet this was not what drew the most attention. What caught Tang Haofei’s gaze were the countless figures standing outside the atmosphere.

At the very front stood Wen Yu. Behind Wen Yu, countless Demon Fiends radiating terrifying auras stood respectfully, like attendants behind him, their faces fanatical as they watched the heaven-shaking might that erupted with a wave of Wen Yu’s hand.

”Our Lord’s divine might!”

The clamor rose, while Tang Haofei’s eyes suddenly shot out two beams of disbelieving light.

”How is this possible!”

”Crack...”

Everything before his eyes shattered like a smashed mirror, breaking into fragments. A tremendous pulling force came from behind. Tang Haofei used all his strength to resist this power. He wanted so badly to get closer to Wen Yu, closer still, and then question this current Wen Yu to his face—why he had become the Master of Ten Thousand Demons before his eyes...

”Come back, hurry and come back.”

The voice of Earth’s will came from behind him; that highly affectionate voice carried a hint of urgency this time.

But this time, Tang Haofei did not heed his mother planet’s call.

”Wen Yu! Wen Yu!!!”

Tang Haofei shouted with all his might, yet his body was inevitably dragged backward by the colossal force behind him, until the one in the distance heard this call that had crossed an unknown span of time.

Wen Yu suddenly turned his head. The black crystal on his forehead, like a third eye, shone with dazzling Black Light.

”So it’s you, Old Tang...”

In Wen Yu’s eyes, calm as a still well, brilliant colors suddenly burst forth—colors so complex they were filled with far, far too many emotions, yet in the end, they only turned into a soft sigh.

”I’m sorry, I did my best...”
