Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

”Huff... huff...”

Like a drowning man gasping for air, Tang Haofei knelt on the scorching rocks, breathing heavily.

Recollecting the scenes he just witnessed in his mind, Tang Haofei abruptly lifted his head, his once clear eyes now bloodshot.

”You’re lying to me, aren’t you? That was fake, wasn’t it? Wasn’t it?”

But to the questioner, there was only a soft sigh in response.

The white light floating on the ground quickly gathered, and in no time, it formed a mottled humanoid light figure.

The light figure took two steps forward, gently stroking Tang Haofei’s hair, waves of warm Origin Energy surged into Tang Haofei’s body through the top of his head, calming his turbulent heart in a short time.

”I did not lie to you... I can vaguely sense the future fragments that happen on me, so the first time you saw the image of the Sea King Tribe’s destruction, it was real, and this time the image of the world’s end is also real. Wen Yu is not your brother or friend anymore, and he is no longer my child. He is the culprit of all this, the World Destroyer who brings the apocalypse.”

Tang Haofei was utterly speechless.

...

It took about three minutes for Tang Haofei to fully calm down. The Earth’s consciousness stood beside Tang Haofei, the body formed by the amalgamation of light spots emitted a dreamy glow, and the neutral voice sounded again.

”Back then, when I produced the first image of the Sea King’s extinction, I didn’t consider Wen Yu a problem. The conflict between Wen Yu and the Sea King Tribe, maybe it was Wen Yu’s fault, or maybe it was the Sea King Tribe’s fault. Who knows? I showed you this just to remind you to be cautious of Wen Yu or the Sea King Tribe.”

”But everything changed five years ago...”

”Five years ago?”

Tang Haofei looked up at the Earth’s consciousness ahead, his brows slowly knitting together.

”Yes, five years ago, I received some information from others...”

The Earth’s consciousness pondered for a moment and then switched to another topic.

”Do you know the reason for your rebirth?”

Facing the sudden change in topic, Tang Haofei was puzzled, but the news supposedly received five years ago and his rebirth still made the latter theoretically more important, so Tang Haofei was happy to continue listening.

He shook his head, then uncertainly said, ”Is it the Dominator?”

”It’s me and the Dominator... You also know the situation in the previous life, seeing that my life was at its end, the Dominator and I discussed using Origin Energy to reverse time during this process, we only sent back one reborner... and that’s you!”

Tang Haofei wasn’t stupid beyond redemption, instantly grasping the key point in this statement.

”So... Wen Yu’s rebirth wasn’t your doing...”

Tang Haofei sighed, feeling sentimental, originally thinking that his and Wen Yu’s rebirths were identical in nature, but from this statement, Tang Haofei instantly understood why the Demigod said ”you two are not even on the same side”...

Essentially, the root of the two’s rebirths was vastly different, and naturally, their purposes were worlds apart as well. Combined with the illusion he just saw, the answer was evident...

His rebirth was due to the Earth’s consciousness and the Dominator, but Wen Yu’s, undoubtedly, was due to the Demon Lord. The factions helping both to be reborn were diametrically opposed, and it’s strange that these two reborners haven’t fought yet.

The Earth’s consciousness continued.

”Rebirth was something I hadn’t encountered before. Maybe at a certain moment, someone stands at a crossroads, contemplating whether to go left or right, and fate undergoes a significant change. I originally thought Wen Yu might be like that, perhaps starting with a thought distinct from the last life, resulting in two entirely different destinies. In other words, I merely thought the emergence of Wen Yu was due to the butterfly effect caused by your rebirth. But five years ago, a guy gave me some gifts, and that’s when I understood Wen Yu was also a reborner.”

”Who? Who gave you this information five years ago?”

The words of the Earth’s consciousness did not hit Tang Haofei’s G-spot. At this moment, Tang Haofei instead wanted to explore the reason why the Earth’s consciousness changed.

In Tang One’s heart, Wen Yu was still that seemingly self-serving but reliable battle mate and good partner at critical moments. Moreover, the beast-like instinct made Tang Haofei aware of the inappropriate aspects of this series of events...

In the illusion, Wen Yu’s last words were with good reason, and the Earth’s consciousness’ performance was also questionable—since Wen Yu had discovered his presence, wouldn’t it be wonderful to let him chat more with the future Wen Yu? Communication is essential; as long as both parties communicate more, open their hearts, they can resolve most conflicts! The result was the Earth’s consciousness, like a thief, hurriedly and chaotically dragged him out...

It’s very odd!

Faced with Tang Haofei’s questioning, the white light on the Earth’s consciousness immediately twisted, calming down after a long time.

”It’s not important...”

”No, I think it’s very important.”

Tang Haofei squinted his eyes, staring intently at the Earth’s consciousness, but in his heart, Tang Two’s shouting echoed.

”That guy wants to trap you! Mad, he’s not a good thing!”

In terms of instinct, Tang Two was even more fierce than Tang One.

The atmosphere on the scene was extremely awkward... Tang Haofei kept staring at the Earth’s consciousness, and the Earth’s consciousness clearly did not want to discuss this topic much more with Tang Haofei.

Finally, the two sides reached a compromise stage.

”Let’s set this matter aside for now.”

The Earth’s consciousness said, and Tang Haofei merely nodded expressionlessly, but his heart was filled with layers of vigilance.

This Earth’s consciousness, every word, and action, every word outside the lines, were far from the ”kind and friendly” Tang Haofei imagined. If it weren’t for the constant reminders of the divine beast’s instinct that this thing before him was the Earth’s consciousness, Tang Haofei would definitely suspect it was a fake!

Now, the feeling the Earth’s consciousness gives Tang Haofei is like it’s mutated...

’Five years ago...’

Tang Haofei vaguely felt he discovered something, but abruptly his mind recalled the illusion he just saw...

Claiming not to guard against Wen Yu would be a lie. Even knowing there’s a problem with the Earth’s consciousness before him, the illusion just witnessed was like a thorn in his heart.

The illusion might be real, or it might be fake, but Wen Yu’s rebirth being due to the Demon Lord should be true. In other words, from a standpoints’ perspective, he and Wen Yu should technically be enemies.

Yet, the Earth’s consciousness before him seemed off, and Wen Yu’s final gaze and tone in the illusion were off too. In Tang Haofei’s consideration, even if Wen Yu was the Demon Lord’s person, as long as he sincerely thought and fought for this world, he would be considered one of his own.

But Wen Yu thinking so doesn’t mean he’s outside of the plot. Perhaps everything he’s doing was planned and designed by others. In other words, as long as Wen Yu lives, there is a high possibility of achieving the Demon Lord’s purpose, and the Demon Lord, being an enemy, his purpose would surely be contrary to Tang Haofei’s standpoint.

Theoretically, to thwart the Demon Lord’s plan, killing Wen Yu first would be the best choice. However, without discussing whether it’s achievable, what Wen Yu is doing now quite aligns with Tang One’s plans for the world—after all, this world is indeed pretty good now, the demon plague is under control, all tribes are thriving, and the power of Earth’s life forms is continuously strengthening. Even if Tang Haofei were to do it, he might not do better than Wen Yu... Plus the relationship and understanding he has with Wen Yu...

Countless thoughts emerged in Tang Haofei’s mind, and in a short time, Tang Haofei felt his head swelled by a circle.

Now Old Tang’s position seems quite awkward as well...
