Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

The only opponent Wen Yu had to deal with to aim for Sequence Number 1 was Tang Haofei.

Tang Haofei...

Indeed, in this Sequence Member-Ranking Battle, Wen Yu estimated that defeating Tang Haofei was a moderate challenge, with about a fifty percent win rate.

The accuracy of this estimation stems from nothing but the fact that Wen Yu was extremely familiar with Tang Haofei’s strength!

Faceless had replicated the peak state of Tang Haofei before he fell asleep. Although Wen Yu didn’t usually spar with Faceless due to the massive destruction it could cause, in the past five years, he had become thoroughly familiar with Tang Haofei’s physical attributes!

Tang Haofei’s physical attributes were close to 400 million, and his species innate talent was as high as 200,000! Truly god-like power.

But sorry, Wen Yu really had a way to handle this...

Currently, Wen Yu’s physical attributes were around 10 million, and his Soul Strength was less than 40 million. The combined innate talents from Earth’s divine beast species and the Universe of Immortals and Heroes’ divine beast species provided an amplification of about 3000 times, which couldn’t compare to Tang Haofei at all. However, Wen Yu and Tang Haofei’s Skill System were entirely different concepts.

Tang Haofei’s combat relied on overwhelming physical attributes. Theoretically, aside from Life and Death Battle Execution and resurrection ability, his other skills were just embellishments, whereas Wen Yu excelled in skill variation.

After Deification x5, Wen Yu’s Soul Strength had been elevated to 400 million. Counting his species innate talent, it was still dozens of times weaker than Tang Haofei. But coupled with the amplification from the True God Dominant Body, the difference was over 100 times! It seemed still unbeatable, but combining Ultra Mortal Combat with the Blood and Flesh Badge, Dragon’s Aura Field with Dragon Blood Amplification, and various bizarre skills, the soul skill system’s overwhelming power... A hundred times the difference wasn’t an insurmountable value! In other words, with Wen Yu’s own strength alone, he could compete with Tang Haofei before his slumber, not to mention having trump cards like Faceless and Blood and Flesh Balance Scale.

Tang Haofei had zero remaining resurrection attempts in his Challenger trial, with only one resurrection ability left.

Reincarnation (Species-specific Esoteric Level, Passive Skill): When the host dies, this ability activates after 10 seconds, immediately resurrecting the host and restoring all of the host’s conditions to peak state, effective once every three days! Non-stackable!

Every three days, in theory, during the preparation days for the Sequence Member-Ranking Battle, Tang Haofei could execute Life and Death Battle Execution once more, yielding a fourfold amplification. In this scenario, it would be like Wen Yu encountered a difficult level... Yet as long as Wen Yu had Faceless and Blood and Flesh Balance Scale, he still had the power to fight!

Wen Yu even dared to say, with Faceless and Blood and Flesh Balance Scale in hand, along with his nearly ten remaining resurrection attempts, he was confident he could seize the opportunity to eliminate Tang Haofei twice consecutively!

Assuming the difficult level, if Tang Haofei refreshed his Life and Death Battle Execution in these days, Wen Yu had to ensure he could injure Tang Haofei with his own strength. Then Faceless could easily solve Tang Haofei’s first life, and the second life would just be a game of ’whack-a-mole’ laid with Blood and Flesh Badge and Faceless.

At difficult level, Wen Yu’s odds of victory were about 90%.

But this was only the difficult level... There was also hellish difficulty above it.

Hellish difficulty meant that Tang Haofei could acquire another resurrection ability within this short time... Once Tang Haofei had more than 3 resurrection skills, the battle would indeed be arduous, which was the root of the 50% win rate...

Yes, the so-called 50% win rate didn’t lie in the power comparison but in Tang Haofei’s luck and choices...

Once Tang Haofei decided to shamelessly exploit the full potential of Life and Death Battle Execution without caring about the cost of power, and if he did manage to acquire other resurrection skills, then Wen Yu’s theoretical win rate would become dismal.

One could only say that the bug-like ability Life and Death Battle Execution had no optimal countermeasures.

However, once hellish difficulty arose, Wen Yu would damn well accept it and could only go all out; if he lost, he would obediently settle into Sequence Number 2 while waiting for the Dominator’s final judgment, but hellish difficulty was only one of the four difficulty levels. If a ”Tang One takes charge now, and he’s very cautious about the costs of power” scenario appeared in simple difficulty, or ”Tang Haofei didn’t choose to refresh Life and Death Battle Execution” in regular difficulty, Wen Yu’s win rate would be 100%. The difficult level still had slight discrepancies, and what Wen Yu needed to ensure was passing the difficult level, a guarantee naturally falling onto the three Esoteric Level skill upgrade scrolls in his hand.

Firstly, Wen Yu chose the Blood and Flesh Badge.

This skill had to be upgraded to the Esoteric Level; the robust immortality combined with resurrection ability would bring Wen Yu more chances to win!

Ripping the skill upgrade scroll, he chose the Cyclops’s Blood and Flesh Badge. Amidst the flickering light, in a moment, the skill description of Blood and Flesh Badge had changed.

Blood and Flesh Badge (Species-specific Esoteric Level, Passive Skill): Mysterious power permeates within the host, your body will no longer have vital spots, and after the start of the battle, the perception of pain disappears! When injured, if there’s any bodily deficiency, other parts will mobilize flesh to compensate for the damage, ensuring the host retains combat capability. When body mass is reduced to one percent of the original, the host will enter a near-death state while the healing speed of injuries increases a hundredfold!

Seeing the brand new Blood and Flesh Badge, Wen Yu immediately frowned, swiftly augmenting it with Ultra Mortal Combat and Blood and Flesh Badge, then, without blinking, karate chopped off his own left arm.

In an instant, blood spurted out, followed by the flesh around Wen Yu’s wound extending and coagulating into an identical arm. However, Wen Yu could clearly sense that his entire body’s flesh and bones seemed to have been depleted. Although the outward appearance was unscathed, his weight had indeed decreased by the weight of an entire arm.

Of course, this wasn’t the key; the key lay with Ultra Mortal Combat...

Fortunately, Ultra Mortal Combat still took effect, indicating that the compensation of injuries by Blood and Flesh Badge wasn’t about healing but merely ensuring the body’s integrity.

The combined effect of Ultra Mortal Combat and Blood and Flesh Badge still existed, and the upper limit was higher—even removing the original negative effect of death from severe injuries. Yes, this Esoteric Level skill upgrade scroll was indeed worthwhile.

And the second skill, Wen Yu chose Ultra Mortal Combat!

Don’t ask why... A complete skill set requires everyone in the family to be in place neatly...

The newly appeared Ultra Mortal Combat had an identical skill description to the original.

Ultra Mortal Combat (Species-specific Esoteric Level, Passive Skill): Unimaginable combat will allows the host to be fearless, pain perception drastically reduces, and as injuries compound, the host’s basic physical attributes exponentially grow, with no upper limit to growth. When the host’s bodily injuries reach an extreme, Ultra Mortal Combat triggers a second state—the attacks received by the host’s body will completely convert into Soul Impact, and due to the soul injuries caused by Soul Attack, there will still be a power augmentation effect on Ultra Mortal Combat. When soul injuries reach an extreme, Ultra Mortal Combat triggers the ultimate state—the host’s current physical attributes increase threefold, and for 30 seconds, immunity to all forms of attacks is granted, after which a near-death state ensues.
