Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 480: Chapter 75: Soul Battlefield! _2

”What good is being a Soul Master? This is my home field!”

...

A massive fist swept violently toward Wen Yu’s head, crossing the pure white expanse of the Soul Battlefield!

An icy chill shot through Wen Yu’s heart. It’s too fast! Far too fast! Here, this demon spawn’s agility is beyond anything a Level 5 could possess!

He twisted his head just in time. The giant claw hadn’t struck him directly on the head, but it still carved three menacing gashes across his chest!

If I had reacted even a fraction of a second slower, that single strike would have ripped me wide open!

But at the same time, Wen Yu suddenly noticed something... Here, my physical attributes have increased slightly! The increase is very slight, perhaps only about 100 physique points. Compared to the 4,000 I possess in battle, this is certainly minuscule. However, my control over my body is so keen that even the slightest change is detectable!

Before Wen Yu had a chance to find the cause of this change, Argus launched another attack!

...

Its six arms provided a multitude of attack points. The first punch hadn’t caused much damage, but that didn’t matter!

Argus’s main goal was to buy time!

He swiftly kicked out, his right foot landing squarely on Wen Yu’s stomach. Although Wen Yu managed to deflect some of the force, he was still sent flying like a cannonball!

Landing several dozen meters away, Wen Yu quickly scrambled to his feet. He watched Argus intently while wiping blood from the corner of his mouth.

He wasn’t yet sure what kind of place this was, but one thing was certain.

My power has increased a little, but the demon spawn facing me is far more terrifying! Its physical attributes are nearly four times my own! Without any skills, such a disparity in physical attributes is more than enough to completely overwhelm me!

...

「In the external world.」

When Marcus saw Argus transform into a faint glow and instantly dive into Wen Yu, his eyes lit up.

Everything is proceeding just as I predicted! My words shifted Argus’s mindset, indirectly influencing his choices. Everything is going according to my plan!

The next moment, Marcus casually tossed the dimly glowing Crystal Stone to the ground.

Then...

He turned and walked away!

...

Seeing this, Qin Tian, now fully recovered, was momentarily stunned. The sudden turn of events had caught Qin Tian completely off guard; he had no idea how to react to this bizarre situation!

Marcus, shimmering with silver light, suddenly appeared at the canyon entrance, then glanced at the Giant Beast locked in a deadly struggle with Faceless.

”Marcus? What the hell are you doing?”

While desperately fending off Faceless’s attacks, the Giant Beast roared his question.

Marcus, however, just gave the Giant Beast a cryptic smile.

”What am I doing? Completing my mission, of course. As of now, my mission is complete. So, goodbye. Enjoy the last battle of your life!”

Amidst Marcus’s maniacal laughter and the Giant Beast’s resentful roar, Marcus’s figure receded into the distance until he vanished completely...

...

「Back on the Soul Battlefield.」

Wen Yu cautiously sized up the demon spawn before him, trying to discern the rules of this unknown space and a way to defeat his opponent.

By now, I can tell that this space is undoubtedly a product of this demon spawn’s abilities and methods, but I still don’t understand its rules.

Argus’s behavior was also strange. After kicking Wen Yu, he didn’t immediately press his attack. Instead, he stood in place with his eyes closed, seemingly recuperating. This should be good news for me, Wen Yu thought. At least it buys me some time to find his weakness.

For a moment, neither side made a move...

But soon, Argus moved!

...

As Argus had said, this was his home field!

Ever since Argus had obtained the Soul Battlefield, the fodder used to enhance his Soul Strength had always been low-level members of the Demon Tribe. Even as a member of the Hunting Group, he couldn’t possibly use the lives of Level 5 creatures to nurture his own skills.

Moreover, Argus hadn’t possessed the Soul Battlefield for long, meaning his home-field advantage wasn’t that significant. Compared to his physical state in the outside world, his physique here was boosted by less than double.

However, this less-than-double boost was based on a demon spawn’s racial advantages! And a demon spawn’s racial advantages were far superior to those of a Human!

The next moment, before Wen Yu could react, Argus had already appeared before him. He raised his arms and tore directly at Wen Yu!

...

His azure arms, tipped with sharp nails glinting coldly, combined with the attack vectors of all six limbs, were like six unparalleled divine weapons descending upon Wen Yu from all directions.

The claws stirred ripples in the air before slamming into Wen Yu’s chest like a cannonball!

This blow should have struck Wen Yu’s heart directly. With Wen Yu’s physique being nearly four times weaker, Argus’s attack was powerful enough to shatter his heart instantly!

However, Argus suddenly remembered Marcus waiting outside. He quickly calculated the time remaining. It’s still not enough time, Argus thought. Even if I win now, I’ll have to face Marcus and that defense Crystal Stone of his outside...

This hesitation spared Wen Yu. The terrifying force of the attack lessened slightly; the massive fist, instead of smashing, slapped Wen Yu, sending him flying.

A second later, an intense pain shot up from Argus’s calf, swiftly spreading throughout his entire body!

”ROAR!!!”

A pained roar burst from Argus’s mouth. The agony seemed endless, wave after wave assaulting his Soul Body!

Sent flying, Wen Yu quickly looked up at Argus!

When Argus’s attack descended, Wen Yu had no effective way to counter. As the massive fist was about to crash into his chest, Wen Yu barely managed to kick out, striking Argus’s calf...

My original goal was just to deflect some of the force, to lessen the damage I’d take, Wen Yu realized. But that kick... it showed me how to beat him!

Before him, Argus’s entire body was suddenly covered in dense, glass-like cracks. A harsh wail echoed throughout the pure white space.

Soul Strike! That was definitely the effect of a Soul Strike!

Wen Yu wasn’t a genius, but he was far from a fool. He almost instantly understood the nature of this space!

None of his other abilities had any effect, but the Soul Strike worked, and its damage was terrifyingly effective! Judging from Argus’s reaction, although their forms here perfectly replicated their physical bodies from the outside world, their fundamental essence had changed!

Ultimately, we’re Soul Bodies here. At least, a normal physical body wouldn’t crack like glass from a Soul Strike! So then... what about Soul-Armored abilities?

At this thought, Palpitation and Mad Medley, his Dual Guns, materialized in Wen Yu’s hands!

The next second, bullets erupted wildly from the Dual Guns!

...

「Outside.」

Wen Yu lay quietly on the ground, as if asleep.

Barefoot, Qin Tian approached Wen Yu...

I don’t understand any of this, Qin Tian thought, bewildered. First, the Giant Beast ambushes me, then Marcus and Argus start fighting each other, and then Marcus just turns around and leaves without a word... Fortunately, the situation seems to be turning in our favor! The Giant Beast’s roars from the distance are getting weaker! What was an even match has turned into a one-sided beating now that the Giant Beast is exhausted. Faceless should be able to pummel it to death within a minute.

After mulling over the current situation, Qin Tian gritted his teeth and sat down beside Wen Yu to protect his body.

After all, Wen Yu did have Faceless save me. That’s undeniable, and I owe him a big one for it!

...

Before long, a heart-wrenching howl erupted from the Giant Beast in the distance, then its voice abruptly died away.

Faceless returned, holding a translucent magic crystal, and stood silently guarding Wen Yu.
