Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 473: Chapter 72 Star Devouring Demon! Siege!_2

However, almost three hours had passed, yet there was still no sign of movement. Qin Tian’s expression darkened again; he was obviously worried about Las Vegas—or rather, his sister’s situation. Still, Qin Tian understood the stakes and knew what was appropriate, so he forcibly suppressed his anxiety and stood silently in place.

”You can’t afford to be in this state,” Wen Yu, already prepared for battle, reminded him. Leaning against a large stone, his eyes were narrowed, and his muscles quivered slightly—a method to ’activate’ every cell in his body, allowing him to reach his peak condition.

Qin Tian sighed. ”Ah... I know... but I really can’t stop worrying. My sister is my only remaining family...”

”Don’t overthink it. If we both head back now, your sister will only die faster...”

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

Before Wen Yu could finish, three tremendous explosions thundered across the sky!

The sudden blasts startled Wen Yu, who quickly looked up.

In his line of sight, three enormous objects resembling balls of flesh were soaring towards Las Vegas!

Qin Tian stared blankly at the three conspicuous, giant flesh balls in the sky, muttering, ”What is that...”

”Star Devouring Demon...” With a grim expression, Wen Yu watched the large flesh balls in the sky, his lips trembling as he uttered the name...

Star Devouring Demon...

A war machine of the Demon Tribe...

In his past life, Wen Yu had seen one from afar. It possessed no destructive power whatsoever; the Star Devouring Demon wasn’t a ’weapon’ with any actual lethality at all!

「At the Demon Realm’s Gate.」

Just as Argus, the three-headed demon species, departed, the American Continent Command Center issued its latest directive: a full-scale assault on the Las Vegas Assembly Site.

Moreover, perhaps out of consideration for Argus, the Star Devouring Demons, originally scheduled to be ready in an hour, were supplied to Demon Realm’s Gate 587 in the shortest possible time.

Barely two minutes after Argus and his two demon spawn had left, chaos erupted near the Demon Realm’s Gate.

Countless Soot Skin Demon Fiends scattered in terror, as if they had seen a ghost, revealing what lay within the Demon Realm’s Gate—an enormous, black, fleshy worm resembling a giant earthworm!

Seeing this, the Soot Skin Demon Fiend leader’s expression immediately turned utterly foul.

Although he had anticipated this, it was only when the creature appeared before him that the Soot Skin Demon Fiend leader realized that having a Star Devouring Demon nearby might not be such a good thing for his tribe...

However, what needed to be done still had to be done. Although he was the great chieftain of this Soot Skin Demon Fiend army, his current identity was that of commander for Demon Realm’s Gate 587!

If he were to disobey a military order, then...

Thinking of the consequences, a chill ran down the Soot Skin Demon Fiend leader’s spine!

The lives of his kinsmen versus his own life—for the Soot Skin Demon Fiend leader, the choice was simple!

Without hesitation, he commanded, ”Everyone, line up next to the Star Devouring Demon!”

The mental control embedded in his words compelled the Soot Skin Demon Fiends to reluctantly suppress their fear and line up neatly.

Then, the Soot Skin Demon Fiend leader nodded at the Star Devouring Demon while simultaneously transmitting a Spiritual Fluctuation: ”Begin...”

The next second, the front end of the Star Devouring Demon split open, revealing a hideous maw bristling with vicious teeth. Then, an immense suction force emanated from the Star Devouring Demon’s maw, instantly drawing the lined-up Soot Skin Demon Fiends into it!

Its thirty-meter-long body, like a bottomless pit, sucked in a vast number of Soot Skin Demon Fiends. The Star Devouring Demon’s body immediately swelled, transforming into a giant ball of flesh!

Then, it began to gestate...

The Soot Skin Demon Fiend leader watched expressionlessly as the Star Devouring Demon underwent its transformation—yes, transformation!

The Star Devouring Demon could suck Low-grade demonic creatures into its belly and fuse them into an enormous Fusion Monster. Individually, cannon fodder possessed little combat strength; even in groups, they were pathetically weak. However, if a hundred such cannon fodder were fused into a single Fusion Monster, their combined combat power would be barely adequate for a fight.

However, a Fusion Monster’s existence was very short. After fusion, regardless of the outcome, death was inevitable!

In other words, the Demon Fiends currently being sucked into the Star Devouring Demon’s stomach were already dead!

In the blink of an eye, thirty seconds passed...

The top of the spherical Star Devouring Demon bloomed open as if it were a flower. Then, a tremendous power surged from within its body.

BANG! With a tremendous sound, a giant ball of flesh, like a cannonball, shot directly towards Las Vegas!

Inside the ’cannonball,’ the indistinct figures of dozens of nearly three-meter-tall monsters, each with a different appearance, could be seen... Their level: Early Stage Level 4!

Meanwhile, from another direction in the sky above Las Vegas, two more flesh balls were launched towards Las Vegas at almost the same instant!

In a short span of time, three Star Devouring Demons and a massive number of Low-grade demonic creatures had converged on Las Vegas!

Seeing the Star Devouring Demon complete its devouring and once again begin the fusion-transformation process, the Soot Skin Demon Fiend leader gulped.

Several hundred Level 1 and Level 2 Soot Skin Demon Fiends could be fused into a single Early Stage Level 4 Fusion Monster. Strictly speaking, this was a profitable exchange...

However, the thought of his kin being used batch after batch as mere raw material left the Soot Skin Demon Fiend leader feeling anything but pleased.

Commanding the Star Devouring Demon to continue devouring the Demon Fiends pouring from the Demon Realm’s Gate, the Soot Skin Demon Fiend leader immediately issued an order to the Soot Skin Demon Fiend army already assembled nearby!

”All units, charge! Slaughter everything that moves!!!”

The words, laced with killing intent, escaped the Soot Skin Demon Fiend leader’s lips. The next moment, all Soot Skin Demon Fiends gathered before the Demon Realm’s Gate surged forward! Target: Las Vegas!

”Star Devouring Demons? What are Star Devouring Demons?” Qin Tian couldn’t help but ask, seeing Wen Yu’s grim expression.

Wen Yu shook his head without a word, but a thought nagged at him: How is this possible? Las Vegas isn’t that large. Why would it attract an attack from at least three Demon Tribe armies equipped with Star Devouring Demons?!

Faced with this reality, Wen Yu conveniently chose to forget the theory he himself had just posited: that the size of an assembly site had little correlation with the number of attacking Demon Fiends.

”It’s begun.” Argus watched the cannonball-like flesh balls arcing through the sky, a flicker of excitement in his eyes.

The plan was underway. According to Argus’s calculations, the probability of success was quite high. If they successfully eliminated Sequence Number 2, the Demon Palace would likely reward him with an Esoteric Level skill, and the path to promotion would surely open up to him!

Letting out a long breath, Argus suppressed his surging excitement and waved to the two demon spawn behind him.

”Let’s go. Find a place and wait for our guests!”

The flesh balls flew with incredible speed. In a very short time, they had crossed the open ground between the Demon Realm’s Gate and Las Vegas, soared over the massive numbers of mutant creatures before the city, and passed over Las Vegas’s crudely constructed walls, plummeting directly into the Las Vegas Assembly Site!

SPLAT. SPLAT. SPLAT.

With three consecutive sounds, like rotting flesh slapping against the ground, the three ’cannonballs’ were accurately delivered into the Las Vegas Assembly Site by the Star Devouring Demons. Then, the protective membrane covering the flesh balls rapidly evaporated, revealing the Fusion Monsters within!

They had black skin, but their appearances were grotesque and varied, as if someone had crudely stitched several Low-grade demonic creatures together with needle and thread.

Some Fusion Monsters were so misshapen, with mismatched bodies, that they resembled fleshy orbs, unable to move even a single step where they lay on the ground!

But these were a minority; most Fusion Monsters still possessed combat capability! Moreover, their strength was considerable—among the professionists in Las Vegas, those who had reached Level 4 strength were truly exceedingly rare!

As if devoid of reason, the Fusion Monsters roared and charged into the streets of Las Vegas!
