Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 478: Chapter 74: Internal Strife! _2

Just as Qin Tian was growing increasingly desperate, a streak of black light flashed from a distance. The surge of dark energy rapidly reached Marcus, who was in front of him.

Having casually released a dimensional asylum, Marcus, with a smile on his face, shouted loudly towards the seemingly empty air not too far away, ”Argus, the target has appeared! The rest is up to you!”

Argus, who was not far off, was slightly stunned.

There was something off about what Marcus had said. He had used Mandarin, which seemed less like a notice for him to act and more of a reminder for Sequence Number 2.

There was a lot of meaning in this.

As expected, Wen Yu didn’t waste Marcus’s kindness. After launching a darkness Energy Wave, he instantly appeared in the shadows. His body quickly grew in size as he simultaneously initiated Soul Pet Augmentation!

2nd Soul Realm—Ultra Mortal Combat!

3rd Soul Realm—Dragon Blood Amplification!

The Pitch-dark Demon Lord was fully activated! A dark energy battle saber immediately appeared in his hand, and he assumed a Defense Stance.

There is still an enemy, and their concealment ability is impressive!

Although he didn’t rule out the possibility that the familiar senior figure was interfering, Wen Yu was more concerned about the enemy hidden in the dark than Qin Tian.

If Qin Tian makes a mistake in his judgment and does something wrong, he will need to face the consequences. If Qin Tian dies when Wen Yu might be unable to protect himself, he deserves it! Under such circumstances, it’s incredibly generous of Wen Yu not to call Faceless to his side!

The scene was suddenly quiet—except for the earth-shaking battle between Faceless and the Giant Beast not far away.

Marcus quietly remained in the dimensional asylum, smiling as he watched Qin Tian in front of him and Wen Yu in the distance, without making any moves.

Argus also remained completely hidden somewhere.

Qin Tian remained within the defensive perimeter of the Void Sword Barrier, continuously drinking healing potions. In a short period, he had swallowed dozens of bottles, and discarded containers littered the area inside the Void Sword Barrier.

Wen Yu, ignoring everything else, was just waiting attentively for the impending surprise attack.

”What exactly are you trying to do?”

A Spiritual Fluctuation emanated from a secret location and went directly into Marcus’s mind.

”Do what? Nothing. Just reminding you that you should act.”

The Spiritual Fluctuation Marcus returned was very calm, showing no sign that he realized his previous action was problematic. In fact, he was thinking, I damn well did it on purpose!

”What the heck do you mean!!!”

Fury was already evident in Argus’s Spiritual Fluctuations.

”Alas.”

Marcus let out a soft sigh.

”Look, if you don’t act, I’ll face a pincer attack from Sequence Number 2 and Sequence Number 4. I don’t know why these top human experts have grown so quickly, but I can’t handle both at the same time.”

”So, if you don’t act, there’s no way I can!”

Argus was furious.

Logically, this was true, but for that bastard to say it in Mandarin... he was clearly just trying to stir up trouble.

Argus didn’t bother to say more and continued to hide in an unknown location, not making a single move.

「Until Qin Tian had fully recovered.」

Realizing the eerie atmosphere, even though Qin Tian had fully recovered, he did not deactivate the Void Sword Barrier’s defense. Instead, he stayed within its boundaries, cautiously observing his surroundings.

After all, as long as the Sword Qi inside the Void Sword Barrier doesn’t run out, its defensive effect won’t disappear.

After a quick glance around, it was apparent that Qin Tian was also confused by the strange situation.

The battle that should have happened didn’t occur. A strange peace prevailed between the two humans and two demons.

Only when the sole ongoing combat—between Faceless and the Giant Beast—showed a clear disparity in strength, did the situation shift.

”What the hell are you guys up to? This guy is too powerful; I can’t hold him off much longer!”

The Giant Beast was slow-witted and certainly couldn’t understand Mandarin. Moreover, Argus and Marcus hadn’t included him in their previous Soul sound transmissions. Consequently, the Giant Beast had no idea what was happening on the battlefield.

However, the Giant Beast’s combat instincts were definitely not weak! Just a few minutes into the fight, the Giant Beast had already sensed that the ’professionist’ before him possessed physical capabilities no weaker than his own. Although its Recovery Ability was slightly inferior, its speed and strength surpassed his. Coupled with the strange energy it controlled, the Giant Beast found itself struggling against Faceless—healing physical injuries consumed a significant amount of stamina!!!

Moreover, after such a long wait, the significant advantage his side initially held had been completely squandered by Marcus and Argus’s dawdling. The Giant Beast was absolutely fuming!

”Argus! What the hell are you doing? Hurry up and pull Sequence Number 2 into the Soul Battlefield!”

As soon as the words were spoken, the Giant Beast received a hefty kick from Faceless. Its entire head exploded instantly! Then, within a mere second, it recovered to its original state once again.

Argus, hidden somewhere, narrowed his eyes at this sight. He carefully contemplated the pros and cons of the current situation on the field, then swiftly transmitted a Spiritual Fluctuation to Marcus.

”What are you trying to do?”

”I said, if you make a move, I’ll surely make a move!”

”Swear on the name of the Demon Lord!”

”I swear!”

Marcus answered swiftly.

Then...

”Sorry, I can’t trust you!”

Having said that, Argus directly sent a Spiritual Fluctuation to the Giant Beast, ”Retreat! This attack has failed!!!”

Having warned the Giant Beast, thus fulfilling his duty as a teammate, Argus immediately began moving towards the canyon entrance.

While in his Concealment state, Argus betrayed no hint of his presence, even when moving at a moderate pace.

Marcus faintly perceived Argus’s movements. He squinted slightly, and a sinister smile touched the corners of his mouth.

He reached behind his waist and retrieved a strangely shaped scale. Marcus then crushed the scale into powder and scattered it in the direction he suspected Argus had taken.

The black powder fluttered all around, and under the influence of the wind, it spread over a vast area in an instant.

Then, nothing happened.

”Bastard, you schemed against me!”

Argus’s Spiritual Fluctuation reached Marcus’s mind. Marcus gave a faint smile, took out another black scale, crushed it, and scattered the powder.

In a short time, Marcus had scattered five scales. When the powder from the final scale touched Argus, who was still in Concealment, he was abruptly revealed!

Argus looked sullenly at Marcus, unwilling to say another word.

The situation was obvious: Marcus wasn’t here to hunt the Sequences. Looking at the circumstances, it seemed he was hunting me instead!

He briefly contemplated the current situation.

Sequence Number 2 and Sequence Number 4 had obviously noticed something was amiss. Even though I’ve been revealed, they’re still making no move, just staying put and watching Marcus’s and my little charade with contemplative expressions.

Marcus is conveniently blocking the canyon exit, leaving that dimwitted Giant Beast to fight desperately against the other professionist!

Run? That would be difficult. Marcus clearly has some unknown objective concerning me. And when it comes to mobility, no Level 5 Demon Seed in the entire Demon Realm can match Marcus!

Fight? That could be considered...

With this in mind, Argus directly asked Marcus, ”Are you here to kill me?”

By this time, Argus had already quietly activated his Esoteric Level skills.

Marcus pondered for a moment, nodded gently, and said, ”You and Sequence Number 4 are both targets to be hunted! In fact, your hunting priority is even higher than Sequence Number 4’s!”

Now that things had reached this point, Marcus had fully bared his fangs at Argus.

”Why?”

”The Ancient Demon Tribe needs your Soul Battlefield. You, being the strongest Level 5 of the Three-Eyed Blue Demon Tribe, wouldn’t voluntarily offer up that skill... so, you understand.”

”Hunting the Sequences is a mission for the entire Demon Tribe, whereas hunting you is a task for our Ancient Demon Tribe. Which do you think is more important to me?”

As soon as he finished speaking, Marcus took out a Crystal Stone radiating a dim light and clenched it tightly in his palm.

A huge light shield enshrouded Marcus instantly, even covering Qin Tian who was not too far away.

Upon seeing the light shield surrounding Marcus, Argus’s face turned deathly pale.

”You bastard!!!”
