Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 469: Chapter 70 When the Demonic Tide Rises (100 Votes Added in July!) _1

Wen Yu took a deep breath. Even though the current of gray air had completely disappeared, Wen Yu could still smell that the air was different. It was an unknown reaction caused by the mixture of Demonic Qi and the elements in the air. This was also the environmental guarantee the Demon Tribe depended on for survival, as well as the catalyst for mutation in animals and plants!

The blood-red moon seemed to be pulsating rhythmically, its bright, crimson glow sweeping across Earth in waves. The next moment, the entire world trembled slightly. Then, across the whole of Earth’s surface and even in the deepest parts of the sea, small mounds of earth suddenly swelled upwards. After that, small, door-shaped structures sprang straight up from the ground. This was the arrival of the Demon Realm’s Gates—they sprouted from the earth just like plants!

The mounds around the world grew larger and larger until a vast number of Demon Realm’s Gates had fully emerged from the soil. The newly-formed Demon Realm’s Gates were small, but the energy fluctuations that radiated intensely from them served as a clear warning to all creatures in close proximity, ”Stay away!”

In truth, the Demon Realm’s Gates could neither be destroyed nor moved. Some mutant beasts, driven by curiosity, would attempt to approach the strange structures that had just emerged. However, before they could even get close to a Demon Realm’s Gate, they would be forcefully repelled by the terrifying energy fluctuations emitted by the gate, pushing them far away. Although these energy fluctuations didn’t cause any harm, they made it impossible to get close. At least at the current level, approaching the Demon Realm’s Gates was impossible. This also meant that Earth’s inhabitants could only defend; they could not attack the Demon Realm’s Gates!

As soon as all the Demon Realm’s Gates had fully emerged from the earth, their growth began!

The Demon Realm’s Gates furiously absorbed the Demonic Qi in the air, rapidly transforming into gigantic gateways, around 50 meters high, at an alarmingly swift pace. After the Demonic Qi had nourished the Demon Realm’s Gates, the air seemed to have been purified somewhat, and even the stench of decay was significantly reduced. But this by no means indicated an improvement in the situation. On the contrary, it signaled the true beginning of the apocalypse!

CREAK...

A long, drawn-out creak echoed, resonating across the entire planet. It sounded as if a rusty old iron gate had been violently pried open halfway. The harsh noise caused unbearable pain in the eardrums of countless creatures, followed by an intense mental shock! The next moment, gray-black Demonic Qi spewed out from the opening in the Demon Realm’s Gate. It rapidly permeated the surroundings, completely re-contaminating the air that had just been cleansed. It was predictable that as long as the Demon Realm’s Gates remained open, the concentration of Demonic Qi on Earth would inevitably intensify.

However, this was not the most pressing issue to consider, because a far greater disaster was imminent!

「Australia.」

Though sparsely populated, its land area was vast. The number of Demon Realm’s Gates here rivaled those in Cathay and America. Before the Demon Realm’s Gates opened, Australian survivors, under government leadership, had already established defensive positions in Sydney. As members of the Earth Community, Cathay and America supported them with a massive supply of weapons and ammunition.

However, the protagonist of this story was not here. Events were unfolding in southwestern Australia.

A towering Demon Realm’s Gate stood there. Just as a piercing CREAK resonated, a crack opened in the Demon Realm’s Gate. Then, an Early Stage Level 3 Soot Skin Demon Fiend, serving as a vanguard, cautiously poked his ugly head out from within the gate.

”Fool, hurry up! There are countless warriors behind you waiting to conquer this world!”

THUD. A thick hoof kicked the Soot Skin Demon Fiend squarely on its rear.

Like a cannonball, the Soot Skin Demon Fiend was kicked at least 200 meters, crashing onto the sandy ground, dazed and disoriented. But no matter how it landed, this Soot Skin Demon Fiend had the distinction of being the first foreign creature to set foot on Earth.

Soon after, a massive shadow swept over the Soot Skin Demon Fiend from above. Its sharp claws instantly shredded this Soot Skin Demon Monster, which hadn’t yet recovered.

This was the first instance of slaughter on Earth between an Earth creature and a Demon Fiend. Though brief, it was like the starting gun of a marathon, firing off with an explosive BOOM! This marked the official start.

When the first Soot Skin Demon Fiend was literally ”kicked out” of the Demon Realm’s Gate, massive numbers of Soot Skin Demon Fiends flooded out like a tide. Their levels varied. The weaker ones, possessing perhaps only two physique points, were numerous and often died by being trampled by their own kind. The stronger ones... Currently, the strongest were at Peak Level 4. However, it was foreseeable that as the number of Demon Fiends increased, the arrival of a Level Five Demon was imminent.

The giant bird that had just eliminated the Third-level Soot Skin Demon Fiend raised its head slightly, only to see a sea of black.

CAW, CAW, CAW...

A grating cry erupted, like steel grinding against steel, yet it carried an energy fluctuation akin to a Soul Strike. Then, the low-level Soot Skin Demon Fiends at the forefront stumbled and fell, trampled into pulp by their kin.

This was just a signal! Accompanied by the giant bird’s shriek, roars of all kinds echoed throughout the desert. Suddenly, all of Australia was in an uproar!

Before the apocalypse, the global human population was less than 8 billion. But what about the total number of animals, insects, and plants? Immeasurable, uncountable! With the invasion of Demonic Qi, countless ordinary insects and plants also began to tread the path of Evolution. Therefore, in this world, once humanity’s technological systems became inferior to their own Strengthen, and the intelligence of mutant beasts rivaled that of humans, humans were no longer the main characters!

The true protagonists—mutant beasts—were already prepared and eager to attack the emerging Demon Fiends! To them, battle meant food! It meant energy for Evolution! It meant becoming—Stronger!

The most direct confrontation erupted less than a thousand meters from the Demon Realm’s Gate. And in the sky, at an altitude of nearly 10,000 meters, a Silver Giant Eagle with a wingspan of almost 60 meters circled. Its cries echoed ceaselessly through the heavens. At the eagle’s cries, the swarms of mutant beasts below continuously adjusted their positions.

A Middle Stage Level 5 divine beast! This was the true king of Australia!

Simultaneously, wherever a Demon Realm’s Gate opened, vast numbers of mutant creatures appeared. These mutant creatures, whether following unknown instincts or led by more powerful ones, launched frenzied attacks against the Demon Tribe pouring from the Demon Realm’s Gates. This was an ambush orchestrated by Earth’s Will! The newly emerged Demon Fiends were caught off guard, trapped near the Demon Realm’s Gates, unable to move an inch! However, the Demon Fiends within the Demon Realm’s Gates paid no heed to how many of their kin perished. They were solely focused on surging out.

「Africa.」

Beside a towering Demon Realm’s Gate, the ground was quickly stained a grotesque, multicolored hue by the blood of Demon Fiends and mutant beasts. And from within the Demon Realm’s Gate, a figure slowly emerged.

It had six arms and three eyes, a slender figure. Above its three eyes, a pure black crystal shimmered brightly. Unlike ordinary Demon Fiends, this figure’s eyes held no madness. Instead, they exuded wisdom. Its arms, almost identical to a human’s, were covered in green scales. Its large, six-fingered hand held a device. The unknown Demon Fiend stood beside the Demon Realm’s Gate, glanced at the device for a long moment, then spoke in the Demon Realm Language, ”Sequence Number 2 is not on this continent!”

Then, this Demon Fiend turned and entered the Demon Realm’s Gate, teleporting to the next one.

This was the Demon Tribe’s sharpest battle saber—the Sequence-class Hunting Group!!!

At the same time, dozens of Demon Fiends of various appearances, all with a black crystal on their bodies, moved in and out of the Demon Realm’s Gates. They tirelessly searched for the locations of the top ten powerful experts of the Human Race Sequence.
