Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 465: Chapter 68: Approaching _1

After the meeting, Wen Yu and Qin Tian went upstairs together to pack their belongings.

Since they didn’t know when the Hunting Group would arrive, Wen Yu and Qin Tian had to prepare in advance. They couldn’t wait until the Hunting Group was at their doorstep before heading to the Red Stone Grand Canyon. After all, who knew if the Hunting Group might change their target midway and decide to demolish Las Vegas first?

Therefore, the two had discussed some time ago that they would set off immediately after the meeting and camp in the Red Stone Grand Canyon for a couple of days.

Wen Yu returned to his room and quickly packed his things—mostly just some bedding. His important items and a change of clothes were all in his space ring.

Then, with Cyclops and Star, he went straight to the corridor.

Outside in the corridor, Qin Tian was bidding a reluctant farewell to his sister. He was continuously trying to soothe Qin Shiyuan, whose eyes were brimming with tears.

COUGH, COUGH.

Seeing Qin Shiyuan grow increasingly emotional and the look of helplessness on Qin Tian’s face deepen, Wen Yu coughed twice, drawing their attention.

”It’s time to go,” Wen Yu said calmly, then turned and walked towards the elevator.

Less than a minute later, Qin Tian joined him. He smiled at Wen Yu and mouthed, ”Thank you.”

Wen Yu also mouthed back, ”You’re welcome.”

Several hours later, Wen Yu and Qin Tian had arrived at their pre-designated defensive point. They set up their tents, cleared out the nearby mutant creatures, then lit a bonfire and quietly awaited the Hunting Group’s arrival.

Currently, there was still one day before the demon plague officially began.

Wen Yu and Qin Tian had little to do in the Red Stone Grand Canyon, aside from optimizing their condition and checking their skills and equipment.

However, apart from these two, the rest of the world seemed to be caught up in a flurry of activity.

Inside the Eternal Sky City, Lin Haifeng was giving a send-off to all the powerful experts affiliated with the military!

Sequence Number 1: Tang Haofei.

Sequence Number 3: Walter.

Sequence Number 5: Kasu.

Sequence Number 6: Fran.

Sequence Number 7: Qin Min.

Sequence Number 9: Lan Bo.

Sequence Number 10: Vincent.

Aside from the members of Wen Yu’s team, the remaining top-ten Sequencers were all affiliated with the military—though Kasu’s affiliation was only temporary.

This was because the military had not yet managed to locate Akad.

Tang Haofei was currently outlining the pre-battle plans.

”The Demon Hunting Group will employ various unpredictable methods to hunt Human Race Sequences after the Demon Realm’s Gate opens. Each of you will face a unique situation—it could be an assassination, a direct assault, or an ambush! Furthermore, the timing is uncertain; they might launch a surprise attack when you least expect it, at a critical moment!

”So, as you can see, everyone will face vastly different circumstances. And, as far as I know, many Sequencers have fallen to the Demon Hunting Group in the past!

”However, one thing is certain: the Hunting Group will prioritize their targets above all else and can pinpoint your locations. Therefore, to prevent the battle’s aftermath from affecting too large an area, each of you will need to stay as far away from populated settlements as possible. This also means that, aside from any traps pre-set on the battlefield, we can offer no further support. Your last resort, if facing imminent death, might be to detonate a nuclear bomb...”

Tang Haofei then made a deadpan, senseless joke.

”I myself will head to Siberia to confront my Hunting Group. The number of Demon Fiends in each Sequence-class Hunting Group will not exceed five. However, we have no way of knowing the exact number you’ll face, so do not lower your guard for an instant. I can offer this advice: once you’ve eliminated more than three Demon Fiends from the Demon Hunting Group, you can return to the Yanjing Assembly Site. Even if some remain, they won’t be able to cause significant trouble.

”That covers the general intelligence. I hope all of you make it back...”

With that, Tang Haofei concluded and turned to look at Lin Haifeng.

Lin Haifeng cleared his throat and turned his gaze to Walter, Kasu, and Qin Min.

”Tang Haofei will be operating alone this time. However, you all understand Fran’s importance. Therefore, Walter, Kasu, and Qin Min—the three of you will join Fran’s contingent. I expect you to ensure Fran’s personal safety.”

Lin Haifeng paused, focusing his gaze on Walter and Qin Min. Only after they both nodded gravely did Lin Haifeng continue.

”Lan Bo and Vincent will each operate solo. Lan Bo, your designated battlefield has already been selected. Vincent, are you certain you don’t require the military to make any special arrangements for you?”

”No need, I’m prepared,” Vincent, still wrapped in bandages, replied in a raspy voice that nonetheless conveyed utter confidence.

Lin Haifeng didn’t press further. He simply nodded, then bowed deeply to the seven people present, offering his final words: ”I hope all of you return safely to the Yanjing Assembly Site. The Human Race needs you.”

Of course, Lin Haifeng wasn’t one for mere words without action. After a brief pause, he began to announce the parting gifts.

”Today, before you depart, you may all go to the military treasury and select any items you feel you need. Just try not to empty Cathay’s entire vault!”

Underneath the Eternal Sky City, within the Yanjing Assembly Site.

Since the Eternal Sky City’s descent, its colossal shadow perpetually covered the Yanjing Assembly Site below. The Sun was now perpetually hidden from the entire Yanjing Assembly Site.

Fortunately, Lin Haifeng was indeed prepared for this.
