Wilderness Survival with Druid System

Soon, everyone who had left the shelter returned to it.

Chen Wen sat in the shade, looking thoughtful.

He was considering how to deal with the hornet problem and possibly tame the kite that had snatched his parrot.

Hua Yun sat opposite Chen Wen, her face expressed utter hopelessness.

She had begun to doubt her hunting skills.

Fred, on the other hand, regarded Chen Wen with a gleam of wisdom in his eyes.

He wondered if Chen Wen was playing a deeper game.

Thus, when Adam and Dennis returned, seeing the varied expressions, they felt somewhat intimidated.

”You all... what happened?”

Adam swallowed and asked cautiously.

Hua Yun sighed and spoke first, ”Hunting isn’t going well, particularly bow hunting. I tried to find some small game but found none. As for the dromedary, it’s huntable, but it’s too large for me to handle alone.”

At this, Chen Wen snapped out of his thoughts, smiled, and comforted her, ”No worries, we’ll hunt the dromedary together later. But let’s forget about small to medium game, as their activity times entirely miss ours here.”

Dennis nodded in agreement, ”Exactly, I lived with the local hunters for a while once. They start hunting from dusk till dawn.”

Fred gloomily said, ”Count me in for the dromedary hunt.”

For large game, collaborative hunting is the best approach.

Hua Yun nodded at his words.

She handed the kite back to Chen Wen and said, ”Alright then, I’ll handle the camp upkeep next. Dennis can guard the camp during hunts.”

Dennis agreed to this arrangement.

And then it was Fred’s turn.

Feeling everyone’s gaze, Fred directly asked Chen Wen, ”I checked out the situation over there. Because of you, they got into a fight and eliminated twelve people.”

”What the hell?! Because of me?”

Chen Wen sat up with a jolt, his face full of shock.

Fred recounted his observations.

Finally, he said, ”The Japanese team is spreading the word that you’re the culprit. Although many teams don’t believe it, they’ve become much more cautious of us. I passed some camps where they seemed ready to draw weapons.”

Upon hearing this, Chen Wen nodded slightly, indicating his understanding.

Then he asked, ”How much longer will they stay around?”

Fred replied, ”According to Oleg, they need today and tomorrow to prepare, mainly roasting camel meat. They’ll set out the morning after tomorrow.”

”Alright... no rush, then.”

Chen Wen nodded and said, ”Let’s act tomorrow night. See if we can exploit any weakness in Feng Zhong’s team to stir things up again and seize the opportunity to gain from others. What do you think?”

Since the last robbery, Chen Wen had enjoyed that feeling.

No need to make anything or hunt.

Just stand in front of another team with weapons, and take what you lack.

It’s exhilarating!

He’s planning to try again.

Upon hearing this, Hua Yun couldn’t help but say, ”You’re really treating them as Japanese, oh wait, they are Japanese, so I have no objections.”

Adam thought for a moment and nodded, ”I agree too. Without risk, there’s no reward. If we manage to create chaos, whatever we seize is a gain.”

Fred nodded to show his agreement.

That left Dennis. He hesitated but seeing everyone else in agreement, he said, ”I... can try to gain something, but don’t make enemies of everyone. We can’t beat them all.”

”Don’t worry about that, I’m not that arrogant.”

Chen Wen patted Dennis on the shoulder to reassure him, ”This time it’s mainly because the Japanese team blamed us. If we don’t seize this chance to get back at them, we’ve taken the blame for nothing, so I’m planning to mess with the Japanese team.”

”For other teams, our approach is to steal where we can. If we can’t, then forget it. But with the Japanese team, it’s outright robbery. Got it?”

Once the target was set, Dennis felt assured.

Then everyone looked at Chen Wen, waiting for him to recount his findings on this trip.

Chen Wen organized his thoughts and said, ”Although I didn’t bring back much to eat this time, I made significant discoveries.”

Saying this, he picked up some stones and used the ground to map out his findings.

”Near the camp, I found a hornet nest, likely ordinary yellow hornets, very large, with probably three to four hundred hornets. I think we can take advantage of this, using fire and smoke to stun them, then catch the hornets and larvae for food.”

Catching hornets, eating hornets!

Daring indeed!

The four listening were startled, and they all admired Chen Wen’s courage a bit more.

”Before coming, our association’s data clearly indicated that the desert’s most untouchable creatures are the hornet swarms.”

Dennis couldn’t help but ask, ”Are you... sure about this?”

”If we act at night and have help, there’s about an eighty percent chance.”

Chen Wen replied earnestly.

Eighty percent!

Dennis took a deep breath and said, ”That’s a good enough chance, let’s do it!”

Adam nodded, ”Yes, worth a gamble. I’ll help; I have some experience with hive raids.”

Once, while surviving in South America, Adam used smoke and fire to stun a swarm of bees and carted off their honey.

”Great, with your help, the chances rise to ninety percent.”

Chen Wen said with a smile.

Besides, Adam wasn’t a fast runner. If things went awry, and the hornets chased them, they’d definitely sting the slowest runner.

Clearing his throat, Chen Wen continued, ”Besides that, I found another spot.”

”It’s an oasis with a large flock of budgerigars, and other bird species visit during dawn and dusk.”

Adam nodded, ”We can definitely use this oasis. The camel’s already butchered. Dennis, Fred, go trade for some grains this afternoon. I’ll try to set traps by tonight, ready for the birds’ watering time in the morning.”

Dennis and Fred nodded, agreeing to trade for grains in the afternoon.

After Adam finished speaking, Chen Wen continued, ”Besides the birds, I found something else—a shoal kite!”

”Ah! A fire eagle!”

Dennis instinctively exclaimed and asked, ”Are there many of them? If so, maybe we should avoid staying long.”

See, such reputation precedes it, such overcastness looms.

In Australia, people turn pale at the name of shoal kites.

Chen Wen quickly assured them, ”No need to worry; there’s only one. Plus, I plan to try and tame it. I felt in the morning that it might be an animal that can be tamed easily.”

Upon hearing this, everyone’s eyes instantly lit up.
