Wilderness Survival with Druid System

The challenges of the Eight Extremes Challenge vary in difficulty.

Take the Desert Extreme Challenge, for example. Globally, fewer than thirty people have completed this challenge and survived.

Throughout history, only about a hundred people have completed this challenge.

In nearly a hundred years, that’s all the people who’ve done it.

Even among the Eight Extremes Challenge, the Desert Extreme Challenge is one of the more difficult ones.

Besides its long process, requiring participants to move close to a thousand kilometers.

The difficulty of its two parts is extremely high.

First is crossing the Great Sand Desert.

Just the issues of water and food are enough to give participants a hard time.

From the start, participants can only carry one full jug of drinking water and three days’ worth of rations.

Which means, on the first day, participants must find water and figure out how to store it.

After three days, they must consider the issue of food.

Those who have completed this challenge before were quite tough.

Their solution was to kill a camel, make jerky from the camel meat, and turn the camel’s stomach into a water pouch.

This is considered the formula for completing this challenge.

After solving the water and food problem, there are greater challenges ahead!

Navigating in the desert, following the correct path to reach an oasis.

Along the way, high temperatures and sun exposure are commonplace.

Sandstorms are the heavyweight threat!

When you endure the trials and reach the oasis, you think the danger is over?

It has actually just begun!

Among the world’s twenty most venomous snakes, you can encounter more than half here!

Venomous insects and scorpions are countless!

And ferocious Australian Wild Dog Packs can strike when participants let their guard down!

When you successfully cross the Great Sand Desert and arrive at the first gathering point.

The officials there will smile and tell you, congratulations, you’ve completed half of the challenge!

Next, you face the Kimberley Plateau during the ”suicide season” rain season!

The name comes from the fact that during this season each year, nearly a hundred travelers go missing or die on the Kimberley Plateau.

This is the entire process of the Desert Extreme Challenge.

Far more perilous than any survival attempt Chen Wen has previously faced!

But the rewards are also far richer than any before!

Besides the honor, money, and status Zhao mentioned earlier, Chen Wen can also place bets.

He can essentially bet on himself.

The hosting Australian Survival Association isn’t worried about participants trying to rig the game; after all, winning is definitely more profitable for every participant than deliberately losing!

In short, the Desert Extreme Challenge has revealed its most brutal and merciless side to Chen Wen.

However, before beginning the Desert Extreme Challenge, the association will conduct team selections and seed player selection.

Chen Wen is rather indifferent to the seed player designation.

He doesn’t particularly value the revival privilege.

So he’s quite open-minded about the qualification.

If I get it, it’s a blessing; if I lose it, it’s fate.

...

Soon, evening arrived.

The attendees returned to the conference room where the meeting was held on the first day.

At the top were Liu Yu and the president.

Below, the first row contained the vice presidents, the second row consisted of Chen Wen and other participants who’ve made it to the list, while the rest sat behind.

The president nodded satisfactorily at the list of ten selected names.

”Not bad, not bad. They are the backbone and promising talents of our association. This time, we hope you achieve good results! Of course, as the president of the Exploration Association, I have a few things to remind all of you.”

”Firstly, everyone must pay attention to safety. Every year, globally, many adventurers suffer injuries due to the Eight Extremes Challenge. I don’t wish to see our country’s heroes facing such situations, so everyone must take care of themselves, ensuring their safety. If there’s a life-threatening danger, withdraw from the challenge immediately!”

”Such withdrawal isn’t disgraceful! I hope everyone remembers this point.”

”Secondly, as the saying goes, at home, rely on parents; when traveling, rely on friends. Our association members shouldn’t form small groups after going out. We are a large collective, so cooperation is best with our own members. I hope our ten adventurers can work together, help each other, to complete the survival challenge!”

At this point, the president gave a meaningful glance toward the front row, without saying much more.

After a brief pause, the president continued: ”Finally, our association will provide logistic support for the participants. Haven’t you all remembered my phone number? If needed, contact Mr. Liu. If you can’t reach Mr. Liu, you can look for me directly.”

After saying this, there was a burst of applause from the audience.

The president then passed the speaking rights to Liu Yu.

Liu Yu glanced at everyone and did not say much: ”The president’s words, I hope you all take to heart. Next, let’s begin the selection for seed players.”

Saying that, Liu Yu placed a box on the table and said: ”Now, we’ll conduct anonymous voting. There are five candidates for seed players: Feng Zhong, Zhao, Xu Qiang, Chen Wen, and Hua Yun.”

Apart from catering to a female member like Hua Yun, the other four are outstanding members of the association.

Chen Wen doesn’t require much explanation; Feng Zhong and Zhao, as vice presidents, have also cleared several hurdles.

And Xu Qiang is also a seasoned member. He may look tall and thin, but he’s an expert with the heavy bow!

Like Feng Zhong, he has cleared several hurdles.

The only difference is that Xu Qiang is relatively taciturn, not fond of speaking, and despite his seniority in the association, he holds no position.

”Everyone, take your voting paper, mark the candidates you want to choose, and place them directly in the box later. Oh, each person has two votes, which must be cast for different candidates. Let’s start.”

Saying that, everyone picked up the voting papers and pens from the table and began marking.

After completing the marking, Sun took the ballot box down and collected everyone’s voting papers.

This rather traditional voting method felt quite novel to Chen Wen.

He cast his two votes for himself and Hua Yun.

For no other reason, he and Hua Yun have the closest relationship and would certainly vote for each other.

Soon, the voting papers were collected.

Liu Yu continued: ”Based on the survival challenges participants have been involved in over the past three years, we also have different vote bonuses.”

”Domestic survival challenge champion, adds five votes; top three in foreign survival challenges, add five votes; champion adds seven votes.”

Upon hearing this, Chen Wen’s eyes lit up.

Goodness, although he hasn’t campaigned for votes in recent days, he feels the seed player qualification isn’t very secure.

But with the champion bonus, counting the Sonora Desert, Yukon, Caprivi, and Great Slave Lake, that’s an additional twenty-eight votes!

How many people are voting now?

Chen Wen calculated, aside from the seventeen people who abstained.

There are only thirty-three left.

Adding the five votes held by Liu Yu and the president, that’s only forty-three votes!

That means as long as more than ten people vote for me, the seed player qualification is secure!

Although Feng Zhong has his small group, Zhao, as vice president, also has a considerable number on his side!

But just as Chen Wen was secretly pleased.

Up above, the president suddenly said: ”Mr. Liu, the top three counts five votes for overseas challenges, I understand, but isn’t seven votes for the champion a bit too much?”

Liu Yu frowned slightly but quickly smiled and said: ”There are reasons for this, our domestic survival events started late, lacking in normativity, difficulty, and participant quality. Therefore, the champion is two votes fewer than overseas.”

The president shook his head upon hearing this: ”I don’t think that makes sense. Based on the results of the last Eight Extremes Challenge, the quality of our participants clearly isn’t inferior! So, looking at it this way, our champion’s gold content doesn’t lose to overseas, what do you think?”
