Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 985: Chapter 984: Is Chunibyo Really Not an Illness?

The roaring storm and lightning swirled, causing everyone to involuntarily step back. Fang Zheng made a gesture to Kurumi, who nodded and took out her firearm. After all, according to Fang Zheng’s experience, the few Elves he encountered, including Nia, Kurumi, and Yoshino, all lost their memories after transformation.

Fang Zheng wasn’t very clear about the situation of the other Elves, but for now, it seemed that Spirit Crystals might cause memory loss. However, Fang Zheng was not unprepared for this.

After a moment, the thunder of lightning gradually dissipated. At the same time, a figure slowly appeared from the lightning and storm.

It was a beautiful girl with long purple hair. At this moment, Yuki was no longer in the dying state she appeared on the sickbed before, instead transforming into a form not much different from how she was in the Game World. Even the Spirit Armor she wore seemed to be the same as the set Yuki wore during the final BOSS battle in the game... Well, maybe there were some details changed, but overall it wasn’t much different.

Then, under the gaze of everyone, Yuki slowly opened her eyes and looked at them.

”Yuki, how do you feel now?”

Fang Zheng stepped forward two steps, smiling at Yuki while also preparing for a possible sudden attack from her.

”Do you know who I am?”

”.......”

Facing Fang Zheng’s question, Yuki did not answer immediately. She stood there dumbfounded, looking at everyone one by one before speaking softly.

”Brother Fang Zheng... I... this is...”

”You still remember me.”

Hearing Yuki’s answer, Fang Zheng breathed a sigh of relief.

”Then do you remember the others here?”

”Of course, Sister Asuna, Sister Black Cat, and Sister Eiriri...”

As she spoke, Yuki raised her hands again, clenching and unclenching them. She stared dazedly at her hands as if something was controlling her.

”Are you okay, Yuki?”

Seeing this, Asuna couldn’t help but ask worriedly, but Yuki suddenly jumped up and shook her head vigorously.

”I’m fine, I’m fine, I’m fine!!”

Saying something incomprehensible, Yuki raised her hands high, jumping and bouncing around everyone.

”I’m really fine! I’m fine!!”

Shouting, Yuki threw herself into Fang Zheng’s arms, looking up at him excitedly.

”Brother Fang Zheng! I’m not dreaming, right? This isn’t in a VR space or some dream, right? I can really walk, jump, and move by myself?”

”Ah, that’s right.”

Listening to Yuki’s questions, Fang Zheng smiled and reached out to stroke her hair.

”This isn’t a dream, this is all real.”

”Really, is it really real??”

Yuki’s questions were somewhat jumbled and incoherent. However, Fang Zheng looked at the girl in front of him and nodded firmly.

”Yes, it’s all real.”

”It’s real... it’s real...”

Hearing Fang Zheng’s answer, Yuki murmured the words several times before suddenly shouting ”Wah” and burying her head into Fang Zheng’s chest, crying loudly.

Seeing this, Eiriri and the others were somewhat at a loss, but Fang Zheng was not surprised. According to what he heard from the doctors, Yuki was forced to drop out when she was discovered to have AIDS during elementary school. Although she persisted with treatment, her health declined day by day. Perhaps, for Yuki, being able to live normally, running and jumping, was a luxury dream.

After a while, Yuki finally returned to normal. She sheepishly left Fang Zheng’s embrace, and Eiriri handed her a handkerchief so she could wipe her eyes. Then she curiously asked.

”Yuki, have you become one of those... Elves now? Is there any transformation?”

”Elf...”

Hearing Eiriri’s inquiry, Yuki furrowed her brow, recalling for a moment before nodding.

”Indeed, I just had some strange knowledge appear in my mind, saying I can summon angels and Spirit Armor...”

As she spoke, Yuki looked ahead, then stomped the ground with force.

”Come forth, Duke of Carnage!”

”Boom!”

When Yuki stomped, a huge crack instantly appeared in the solid ground, rapidly extending into the distance. Shortly after, a golden throne rose from the ground, and at the top of the throne was a pure white One-Handed Sword. With a leap, Yuki landed on the back of the throne, then reached out and ”swish” pulled out the sword stuck into the throne’s back.

”Wow!”

Seeing the Greatsword in Yuki’s hand, Eiriri exclaimed, and then seemed to realize something, quickly looking toward Fang Zheng.

”Mr. Fang Zheng, look, a Greatsword!”

”......I see it, you don’t need to say.”

Hearing Eiriri’s reminder, Fang Zheng rolled his eyes in annoyance. It’s just because you never got a Two-Handed Sword in the game, do you have to remember it until now?

Yuki obviously remembered this too. She playfully stuck out her tongue at Fang Zheng, then gripped the sword hilt with both hands and pulled hard!

Click!

The next moment, the Greatsword turned into two One-Handed Swords, which Yuki held in both hands. This looked more like how she appeared in the game.

”So nice...”

Black Cat stared hard at Yuki, almost drooling. As a chuunibyou patient, Black Cat dreams of having such power!!

Oh right!

When she thought of this, Black Cat seemed to have thought of something. Her eyes suddenly lit up, and then she rushed over and grabbed Fang Zheng.

”Mr. Fang Zheng, you just said you were a Dimensional Mage, right?”

”That’s right.”

Seeing the Black Cat in front of him, Fang Zheng could almost guess what she was thinking.

”Then, do you think I can learn magic?”

As expected.

Upon hearing Black Cat’s inquiry, Fang Zheng felt no emotional fluctuation and instead felt a bit like laughing. How could someone as deeply entrenched in the world of chunibyo as Black Cat pass up such a good opportunity? In those supernatural anime, Black Cat would at least be the kind of person who sees a special supernatural event and has to go over and investigate.

Of course, whether she becomes the heroine or the victim afterwards depends on the type of anime it is.

If it’s female-oriented, Black Cat will meet a handsome protagonist after she goes over, get involved in a series of supernatural events, and then meet a series of handsome guys.

If it’s for children, Black Cat will encounter some indescribable mascot, then haphazardly transform into a Magical Girl and start a life of fighting and dying alongside others.

If it’s adult-oriented... well, then she sacrifices herself to serve the audience.

”If you’re interested, there’s no problem.”

Fang Zheng snapped his fingers, and the next moment the sealing was lifted, and everything returned to normal. In the past, this scene would have scared all three of them stupid, but after seeing Yuki’s rebirth as an Elf, they clearly had developed some psychological resilience.

Soon, everyone, under Fang Zheng’s lead, left the sterile room and returned to the reception room. Yuki was bouncing up and down excitedly nearby, while Fang Zheng sat down on the sofa with Asuna and the others, and then reached out to pull out a Crystal Ball from his pocket.

”What’s this?”

”It’s considered a testing device.”

Fang Zheng casually explained.

”You should know that magic is all about talent. If you have this talent, then you can learn it. If not, you can’t. I can certainly teach you magic, but before that... let’s see what your aptitude is like.”

”Can we try too?”

Upon hearing this, Asuna and Eiriri were also eager to try, because this is magic after all, and who doesn’t have a maiden heart?

”Of course, one at a time. Asuna, you first.”

Fang Zheng placed the Crystal Ball on the table and gestured to Asuna, who curiously looked at the Crystal Ball.

”This... what should I do?”

”Put your hand on the Crystal Ball. It will sense the magic power in your body.”

Fang Zheng explained, watching as Asuna nervously placed her hand on the Crystal Ball. This Crystal Ball was given to Fang Zheng by the White Tower when he became an Official Mage. Becoming an Official Mage meant having the qualification to take on apprentices. In fact, Fang Zheng had told a small lie. This Crystal Ball not only tested the magic power in the test subject’s body, but it also sensed the test subject’s compatibility.

In other words, if the test subject is suitable for practicing a certain school of magic, the corresponding rune for that school will appear on the Crystal Ball. The clearer and brighter the rune, the higher the compatibility.

Of course, Fang Zheng had never used this thing before because it was just a test and didn’t represent true strength. Like some people have a talent for drawing but prefer music, there’s no conflict in that.

So for a White Tower Mage, this was more like an entry-level test.

Of course, if you can’t pass this test, it shows your body can’t condense magic power, so... naturally don’t think about learning magic.

Asuna put her hand on the Crystal Ball, and the result was... hmm, everyone only saw the Crystal Ball flash a faint yellow radiance, then fade quickly.

”Sorry, it seems you don’t have the aptitude to learn magic.”

Fang Zheng was not surprised by this. He would be surprised if Asuna had this talent.

Next was Eiriri, and like Asuna, she apparently couldn’t learn magic either.

Finally, it was Black Cat’s turn.

”Looks like it’s up to me to step in...”

Looking at the Crystal Ball in front of her, Black Cat showed no fear. Instead, she appeared eager to try. She stretched out her hand and pressed it on the Crystal Ball.

”Feel my dark magic power!!”

”.........”

However, nothing happened.

”Alright then.”

Watching this scene, Fang Zheng shrugged.

”It seems it’s a pity...”

”—————!”

However, before Fang Zheng could finish speaking, suddenly, the Crystal Ball in Black Cat’s hand flared up, and the next moment, a symbol appeared out of nowhere on the Crystal Ball!

”Hahaha, I did it!!”

Seeing this scene, Black Cat immediately jumped up in excitement.

”How about that, Mr. Fang Zheng? I did succeed, right!”

”Ah... um...”

Fang Zheng looked dumbfoundedly at Black Cat in front of him. His mouth opened, but he couldn’t manage to say a word.

At this moment, he had only one thought in his mind.

Could chunibyo really not be a disease?
