Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 957: Chapter 956: A Mission’s Unexpected Consequences...

”This is the sixty-fifth floor.”

Fang Zheng took a deep breath as he gazed at the dilapidated town in front of him, and then spoke.

”We’re getting faster and faster now.”

Leafa clenched her fists in excitement, waving them continuously.

”In just a few months, we’ve gone from the fortieth to the sixty-fifth floor. At this rate, we’ll clear the game before the end of the year! Maybe we can all go for the New Year’s shrine visit together!”

”That’s unlikely......”

Yuki shook her head.

”Even though we’re always fighting in the game, in reality, our bodies have been lying in hospital beds without movement. We might need some rehabilitation time before we can act......”

”But it’s always a good thing when everything goes smoothly.”

Aoba raised her small fist to cheer everyone up.

”With the Three-Dimensional Maneuver Gear Mr. Fang Zheng made, it’s easier for us to dodge enemy attacks, and combat becomes easier too, doesn’t it? Especially the boss on the fiftieth floor, honestly, I thought we wouldn’t make it, but with the gear, it was surprisingly simple!”

”Yeah, yeah.”

Hearing this, Eiriri also nodded.

The fiftieth floor’s boss was much harder to deal with than the twenty-fifth floor, but fortunately, back on the forty-fifth floor, Fang Zheng decided to have the rest of the raid group learn to use the Three-Dimensional Maneuver Gear, so after that, the boss on the fiftieth floor was quickly defeated by the girls flying all around.

However, not everyone was happy about it.

”Don’t you think...... this floor feels a bit scary?”

Asuna timidly hid behind Gabriel, carefully observing the surroundings and uneasily spoke.

”This place...... seems a little off.”

Hearing Asuna’s words, everyone shifted their attention from chatting to the town in front of them. Generally, the passage cleared after defeating a boss would lead to the main city of the next floor. And as it stood, this was apparently the ”main city” of the sixty-fifth floor.

However, as Asuna mentioned, this main city indeed felt off.

It looked like an abandoned town, with ruined walls covered in ivy and houses that seemed uninhabited for a long time, even the gardens once cared for were overgrown with weeds.

But more importantly, there were tombstones of all kinds everywhere.

In fact, the moment she saw the tombstones, Asuna was already in a state of extreme fear.

”It looks like a scene straight out of a ghost movie.”

Gabriel silently commented, while Black Cat raised a hand to cover her left face.

”Hehehe... I can sense the whisper of death in the wind, that’s the wailing of the Undead, longing to fall into Hell...”

”Sophie would definitely love this place.”

Ririri mused, commenting that Sophie hated sunny places, so she preferred subterranean cities or dark levels. A place like this, where it seemed dark as pitch, would definitely be her favorite.

”Alright, as usual, disperse and explore. Meet back here in half an hour.”

Fang Zheng waved his hand, and everyone scattered in a rush—each main city had main quests, and by understanding the requirements and emerging quests, they could discern the attribute level of the floor’s lord. So Dark Moon Sword would always first seek the main quest upon reaching a new floor, though occasionally someone might tackle a side quest for relaxation.

Watching everyone leave, Fang Zheng clasped his hands behind his back and strolled around as if he were on a leisurely walk.

The entire street was empty, with only the dark yellow light from the street lamps casting a dim glow, and occasional gusts of wind swirling fallen leaves around before Fang Zheng’s eyes.

”Wu-wu-wu...”

Asuna clung tightly behind Fang Zheng, almost in tears.

”Mr. Fang Zheng, let’s go back......”

”Did you forget what you said back on the sixth floor?”

Fang Zheng glanced at Asuna, who had said that as long as she didn’t have to face bugs, she’d never run from any floor again.

”Wu-wu-wu......”

Hearing Fang Zheng’s retort, Asuna was nearly in tears, unsure if it was due to the fear, remorse for her reckless promise, or a bit of both...

However, Fang Zheng was not one to change his mind from a girl’s tears, something the members of Dark Moon Sword understood, so aside from some sniffles, Asuna continued to hide behind Fang Zheng, clutching his clothes with a resolve to drag someone down with her.

Thus, Fang Zheng led Asuna as they wandered toward a church near the square. Like elsewhere, it looked long-abandoned, with tattered red carpets and brittle blackened petals scattered on the ground.

Fang Zheng entered the church to find it deserted. He stepped forward and glanced around.

”This place... seems like it was originally for a wedding.”

Asuna clung to Fang Zheng, peeking around as she spoke.

”Indeed, it seems like a quest scene.”

Fang Zheng took another look, realizing it resembled a Western wedding chapel. He approached the center, noticing a Holy Scripture on a podium, but nothing else. Reaching out to pick up the Holy Scripture, hoping to trigger a quest, he was suddenly interrupted by a low, continuous bell tolling behind him.

”Dong... Dong... Dong...”

The sudden sound startled Asuna, making her jump behind Fang Zheng. But before she could say anything, a system prompt appeared before her.

[Player Fang Zheng is proposing marriage to you, do you accept?]

”.....What?”

Seeing the system message, Asuna’s mind went blank, unsure how to react.

And she wasn’t the only one stunned.

”What... What’s happening?”

Aoba, standing dumbfounded at the entrance, was stunned at the marriage proposal appearing before her...

Mr. Fang Zheng is proposing to her??

Why now? Does he like her?

No, the real question is...

Aoba lifted her hand, her face turning crimson.

Should I... accept?!

Is Mr. Fang Zheng proposing?

Upon seeing the message, Eiriri’s eyes lit up.

Even if it is in a game, I never thought Mr. Fang Zheng would have such an idea, hehe, this works for me, I can marry before Shiyu from Misty Hill! She might fight to the end and only become a mistress, while I have a formal marriage, haha, I’ll rub it in her face later!

With that in mind, Eiriri extended her hand without hesitation.

Accept!

Mr. Fang Zheng proposing to me?

Shinong pondered the menu in front of her, bewilderment on her face.

Doesn’t seem like she and Mr. Fang Zheng are that close?

Though true, they’ve fought together and she thinks he’s a good man, but... for marriage, isn’t there a more suitable person?

Though it makes her shy, she should decline.

With that, Shinong sighed and reached out to tap... but suddenly hesitated with surprise.

”Ah...”

Confounded by what happened, Shinong froze.

Oops, pressed the wrong one...

Fang Zheng is proposing to me?

Upon seeing the system prompt, Black Cat looked puzzled.

Why didn’t he confess to her directly but use this method? Sigh... Wait, isn’t it a bit fast to get married without dating? Better refuse...

With that thought, Black Cat raised her hand.

But... would refusing be too harsh since Mr. Fang Zheng was technically proposing...

Lost in thought, Black Cat found herself trapped in a loop of confusion.
