Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 962: Chapter 961: The Quintessential Bride (V)

I came to this world carrying destiny.

The pitch-black soul foretold my fate. As a member of the Dark Clan, the body I reincarnated into is so fragile and ordinary, with no ability to exert my past life’s power and knowledge.

But now, I have regained my strength.

That is the true power belonging to me, revered as the ”Black Beast.”

In this imaginary world, my power has awakened...

The Dark Clan is the messenger of death, the guide of souls. Because of this, I am responsible for guiding those lost souls back to their place of rest.

This is my destiny...

”Hehehehehe...”

”...Black Cat?”

Looking at the Black Cat in front of him, dressed in a pitch-black gothic lolita outfit, exuding a sinister laugh, Fang Zheng wiped a cold sweat from his brow. Hearing Fang Zheng’s voice, Black Cat snapped out of her delusions, looked at Fang Zheng, and courteously bowed to him, lifting her skirt with both hands.

”You have arrived, my King.”

”Ah... uhm...”

Hearing Black Cat’s greeting, Fang Zheng nodded with a complex expression. He couldn’t say when it started, but Black Cat seemed to have assigned him the identity of a ”Dark Emperor” to match her own ”Dark Clan” setting. According to Black Cat’s imagination, he was the ruler from the Pitch Black World, the supreme emperor who controlled all dark things.

While she was merely a small, unnoticed black beast curled up in the shadowy corner of the throne...

Honestly, Fang Zheng couldn’t tell whether Black Cat was being arrogant or humble with her middle school syndrome...

But come to think of it, what the heck is a Dark Emperor? Are you worried I don’t have enough Villain’s Soulstones? I... Fang. Paladin. Time Dragon. White Tower Mage. Swarm Overlord. King of the Crimson Realm. Mage. Zheng... have so many titles. Can’t you come up with something better?

If I draw another Villain’s Soulstone when I go back this time, it’s your fault!

Even Gabriel would say to me, ”Treat me well, and I’ll send you to Heaven later”...

Well, that’s not much better either.

Fang Zheng was speechless regarding the unreliability of his group of girls under his command.

”So, where are we going today?”

”Everything is guided by destiny!”

Facing Fang Zheng’s question, Black Cat suddenly raised her right hand and pointed to the bell tower outside the town.

”Oh King, sorrowful souls are awaiting your salvation. We shall proceed to the Clock Tower of Souls, where we will complete the ceremonial rite of destiny!”

So basically, this time we’re going with Black Cat to the Clock Tower outside the town, right?

Fang Zheng automatically translated Black Cat’s words in his mind; anyway, they’re all the same. The so-called MMORPG missions, no matter how moving, ultimately boil down to ”where to go,” ”who to kill,” and ”how many to kill” loops. That’s why online gaming is declining today.

Just like the Love and Family quest, while indeed moving... well, before moving, killing maggots almost made one want to throw up.

Whether it’s moving or not is actually irrelevant.

Compared to Asuna’s missions, Black Cat’s missions were obviously not as easy. In fact, when Fang Zheng pushed open the Clock Tower’s door, he saw several seemingly undead creatures emerging from the darkness, howling, with sharp claws, cold weapons, and glaring intently at the two in front of them.

If it were Asuna, this scene would have been enough to make her scream and tremble, but for Black Cat, the appearance of these creatures only made her more excited!

”Bring it on, The Fallen!!”

Black Cat suddenly raised her right hand, eyeing the monsters before her with a provocative smile.

”To dare stand in my King’s way takes great courage. Since you’ve decided to use your souls as obstacles on my King’s path, then let you witness the true Power of the Night! Oh King, show your strength, and let these undead submit once more under the wings of our Dark Clan!!”

What else could Fang Zheng say to this?

He just had to cut them down.

A mere mob of NPC monsters certainly couldn’t be Fang Zheng’s opponents. Although Black Cat couldn’t fight due to her sealed skills, she dutifully followed Fang Zheng, cheering from behind during the entire journey.

The lines Black Cat used while cheering...

Well, let’s just say it’s fortunate she came out with just Fang Zheng, because otherwise, one might not feel shy, but others would die of embarrassment hearing it.

”Phew...”

After mowing down enemies to the top of the lighthouse, Black Cat looked out at the scenery below through the window and gave a proud hum.

”Hmph... mere undead dare to be arrogant in the presence of the Dark Clan. Tremble, shiver, scream! This is the power of my King! This is the power of the Dark Emperor! Oh hohohoho...!”

”......”

Watching Black Cat laughing loudly at the window, Fang Zheng silently covered his face.

To be honest, he really began to worry whether Black Cat could integrate into normal society after leaving this world.

”...Black Cat.”

Thinking of this, Fang Zheng looked at Black Cat with interest.

”What is it, my King?”

”If... angels and a Demon King were really fighting in your city, would you be interested?”

”Ugh...”

Hearing Fang Zheng’s inquiry, Black Cat furrowed her brow in distress.

”Our Dark Clan and the Holy Angels are mortal enemies. If my King requires my strength, I would shatter into pieces, walk through fire and water without hesitation! Even if my body is destroyed, my reincarnated self will still serve beside you as Dark Follower Black Cat!”

”............”

That’s not what I meant...

Looking at Black Cat in front of him, Fang Zheng sighed silently, realizing that dealing with this middle school syndrome could really be a headache; their communication seemed completely off track.

But... when I clear this game and return to reality, should I take Black Cat to the Heavenly Dao Palace? Since the little girl likes this kind of thing so much, maybe letting her see the real deal wouldn’t be bad. Then again, Fang Zheng was curious what reaction Black Cat would have then.

After all, the story of the man who loved dragons was read so many times in elementary school textbooks, but he’d never seen a live version.

”Black Cat, let’s do this.”

Thinking about this, Fang Zheng brightened up.

”Once we clear the game and return to the real world, I’ll invite you all to visit my home; I’m sure you’ll be satisfied then.”

”To the King’s City of the Dark Clan?”

Hearing Fang Zheng’s suggestion, Black Cat showed an excited expression.

”I never thought I’d have the day to return to the King’s City... Obeying your order, my King. At that time, I will be at your side!”

... Whatever you want to call it.

Watching Black Cat’s excited manner, Fang Zheng sighed silently again, returning the conversation to topic.

”So, how is it? Is the mission completed?”

”The sorrowful soul has been liberated.”

Facing Fang Zheng’s inquiry, Black Cat nodded, her hands behind her back, and bounded cat-like, taking a few light steps to stand before Fang Zheng, looking up at him.

”All this glory belongs to you, my King. Your power protected her soul, fulfilling her wish, and this...”

As Fang Zheng waited to hear what Black Cat would say next, a shadow flashed before his eyes, and in the next moment, he felt Black Cat’s soft lips press against his cheek, then quickly pull away.

”...this is the gratitude gift from the sorrowful spirit, I hope you accept it.”

By the time Fang Zheng came to his senses, Black Cat had already retreated a few steps, her face flushed red as she finished speaking, then hurriedly turned and quickly descended the stairs.

”......”

Watching Black Cat’s retreating back, Fang Zheng touched his cheek, then shook his head.

He really couldn’t keep up with this middle school syndrome rhythm after all...
