Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 977: Chapter 976: The Unremarkable Male Lead (Part 1)

”I’ve already said, I’m fine, no need to worry about me.”

Eiriri stretched lazily, smiling playfully at everyone in front of her.

”See, I’m out here perfectly well, right? Plus, my dad and mom have had doctors check me out, and aside from needing to boost my nutrition and exercise, I have no other issues.”

”But... it was a Death Game...”

Hearing Eiriri’s response, a boy with glasses and a normal appearance standing by the bedside spoke up worriedly.

”And you didn’t wake up for a full two years... we don’t know what happened in that game...”

”Hmm... I was really scared at first, and encountered some terrifying things, but I also met many kind people, you know? And I was part of the Raid Group! My companions and I personally fought through 100 levels and beat the final Boss to get out. Facing a victorious hero, shouldn’t you be praising me as amazing? I’m one of the heroes who saved thousands of players!”

”This bullheaded style really suits you, Zemura.”

Hearing this, a black-haired, long-straight-haired girl standing on the other side sighed, and Eiriri gave her a cheeky V-sign.

”Of course, how about it? Want to turn my story into a novel? I can allow you to artistically embellish me, you know? Though I’m not the top, at least I’m in the top three... no wait, excluding Asuna and Yuki, those weirdos... I could at least be in the top ten!”

”But seeing you lying in the hospital bed now really isn’t convincing.”

”That’s rich coming from you, Shiyu of Misty Hill! Once I recover, I’ll definitely show you my real skills... ah, why isn’t there Three-Dimensional Maneuver Gear in the real world!”

Eiriri has really changed a lot...

Listening to their familiar bickering, Megumi Kato, quietly slicing an apple in the corner, watched the scene in front, remaining silent.

It’s been two years since Eiriri entered the Death Game. But...

Thinking of this, Megumi Kato glanced at Aki Tomoya with glasses standing at the bedside. She still remembered how anxious Aki was when he learned about Eiriri’s condition, even recklessly wanting to enter the game himself.

And after that... the relationship between the three began to change gradually.

Megumi Kato likes Aki Tomoya, but Aki never openly responded to her feelings; Megumi understands this well. In Aki’s heart, there’s still a place for Eiriri. He’s just that indecisive kind of guy. Megumi doesn’t dislike Aki for this, but... even she has her limits of patience.

Since then, it’s been two years.

Even though the three often came to visit Eiriri in the hospital bed during these two years, Aki never confessed to Megumi. Of course, Megumi could understand Aki’s thoughts; she felt the same way. Eiriri’s feelings for Aki were not unnoticed by Megumi, and it could be said that Eiriri being caught up in the Death Game was partly their fault.

Maybe because of this, Aki kept his distance from her afterward.

But what is Aki really thinking?

Does he intend to restore the ambiguous relationship between the four?

”Knock, knock, knock.”

Suddenly, there was a knock on the door outside the patient room. Hearing the knock, Megumi stood up.

”I’ll go open the door.”

After saying this, Megumi walked to the door, somewhat curious about who would visit Eiriri at this time. Eiriri’s parents came daily but not at this hour; perhaps it was one of Eiriri’s classmates.

Thinking this, Megumi opened the door but was surprised to find a stranger standing outside.

”Who are you...?”

Looking at the handsome, charming young man with black hair and black eyes, Megumi couldn’t help but pause, while the man upon seeing Megumi also paused briefly, then smiled.

”Hello, is this Eiriri’s room?”

”Ah, yes...”

The man’s voice was gentle, full of magnetism; paired with his looks, even the usually calm Megumi felt a blush creep onto her face, quickly nodding.

”May I ask who you are?”

”My name is Fang Zheng, here to see Eiriri. Are you... her classmate?”

”Yes, I’m Megumi Kato, nice to meet you.”

Under Fang Zheng’s gaze, Megumi felt her heart skipping a few beats, which was rare for her. So, for a moment, she was flustered, quickly stepping aside to let Fang Zheng into the room.

”Megumi, who came... Mr. Fang Zheng!”

At this moment, Eiriri curiously looked towards the door, and upon seeing Fang Zheng follow Megumi in, she excitedly called out, then jumped off the bed in her pajamas, throwing herself into Fang Zheng’s arms.

”It’s really Mr. Fang Zheng! How did you know I was here? Am I dreaming?”

”You seem quite spirited.”

Watching Eiriri in his arms, Fang Zheng chuckled and stroked her hair. Eiriri looked up and giggled at Fang Zheng.

”Of course, I’m recovering well. Oh, my parents are also coming later, how about we all go out for dinner?”

Seeing this scene, Megumi Kato, Shiyu of Misty Hill, and Aki Tomoya were all stunned. They had known Eiriri for so long, yet it was the first time seeing her act so warmly with another man, especially Aki, whose confusion was apparent. He had grown up with Eiriri, yet he never knew she had any distant relatives like that, and moreover...

”Zemura? Who is this?”

Then, it was Shiyu of Misty Hill who first curiously asked, and upon hearing her query, Eiriri left Fang Zheng’s embrace, then cheekily smiled and stared back provocatively at Shiyu before answering word by word.

”Oh right, I haven’t introduced him to everyone yet. His name is Fang Zheng; he’s the leader of the Dark Moon Sword Guild I joined in the game. He led us to clear the game and helped us return to this world so quickly, you know?”

Upon hearing this, the three people breathed a sigh of relief, especially Aki Tomoya, who felt a mixture of emotions seeing Eiriri in Fang Zheng’s arms. But now, it seems Eiriri sees Fang Zheng as a savior...

However, just then, Aki noticed Eiriri glance at him with a knowing smile before speaking again.

”And... Mr. Fang Zheng is also my boyfriend!”

”What...?”

The three were stunned upon hearing this.
