Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 970: Chapter 969: Breaking Through

The multicolored Arrows of Light descended from the sky like rockets, exploding instantly and enveloping everyone within.

”Boom! Boom! Boom!!”

A series of explosions echoed, occasionally blasting someone away. Fortunately, while the power of these Arrows of Light wasn’t weak, everyone qualified to enter this final raid battle was a top elite, and needless to say, their health points were definitely maxed out.

As the bombing ended, Fang Zheng raised his head to see the BOSS retreating. Immediately afterward, a lush tree appeared behind the BOSS, and a drop of dew fell from the tree leaves into the gemstone on the BOSS’s forehead. Then, the crimson gemstones on the BOSS suddenly turned blue, and incredibly, the health points that had been reduced by the group were restored!

”This is.......”

”It’s normal, everyone heal up. Gabriel, keep an eye on the gemstone on its forehead, break the shield and attack.”

Compared to the others’ shock, Fang Zheng remained calm. Come on, this is the final BOSS, having three phases is standard procedure, so what’s the big deal about regenerating some health?

”Raid Group, activate Three-Dimensional Maneuver Gear! Attack again! Everyone else, spread out. Don’t go to the front line if your health isn’t full, and always be ready to dodge and defend! Yuna, start singing, apply BUFF!”

Fang Zheng gave the command, and then he reached out to tap his waist. In the next moment, the Three-Dimensional Maneuver Gear equipped on his legs activated, propelling Fang Zheng into the sky. At the same time, the other girls leapt up, lunging toward the BOSS.

Watching the scene before them, Black Snow Princess and Ang displayed envious expressions. They had attempted to use the Three-Dimensional Maneuver Gear before, but either ended up disoriented afterward or nearly got themselves killed – it seemed that without innate talent, all they could do was watch with envy.

The battle commenced once more, with the Raid Group observing the final BOSS’s actions while constantly defending and switching up their attacks. Since the final BOSS had two layers of defense unlike ordinary bosses, this significantly increased its difficulty.

First, they had to divide a portion of people to block the BOSS’s attacks, while the others needed to swiftly break the shield, before finally being able to deal damage.

The final BOSS truly lived up to its reputation, not only having a wide attack range but also employing many Magic Department attack methods, such as unleashing multicolored Arrows of Light and emitting red Light Beams from its eyes to sweep through the crowd. One careless mistake could make many fall victim.

Although individual attack damage was manageable, if hit by consecutive wide-range AOE attacks, many players would find themselves in a very dangerous state in terms of health points.

”Clang!!”

With a shattering sound, the shield around the BOSS was penetrated again. Meanwhile, Black Snow Princess and Ang quickly retreated, and then Fang Zheng and Yuki descended from the sky, wielding their Greatsword and Dual Blade, and struck at the BOSS with force.

”Cross Slash!”

”Starburst Stream Slash!”

The Greatsword exploded like a Red Dragon, and the dazzling, frenzied sword light intertwined, striking the BOSS’s massive body like a heavy hammer. With a pained scream, the BOSS staggered back a few steps, roaring and swinging its weapon again. Concurrently, several tendrils shot up from the ground, shooting in all directions.

”Scatter!!”

After the preceding round of attacks, Fang Zheng had mostly figured out the BOSS’s behavior pattern. After suffering heavy damage and losing health points, it would perform this move to drive players away, then Summon that tree to heal. For average players, this was indeed a fatal situation.

However, the problem was that while the final BOSS was formidable, Fang Zheng’s side was essentially cheating.

”Swish, swish, swish!!”

Following Fang Zheng’s command, the girls of the Dark Moon Sword immediately activated their Three-Dimensional Maneuver Gear, flying into the air like fairies, dodging the tendril attacks erupting from the ground. As expected, Fang Zheng saw the final BOSS retreat, and the green tree reappeared behind it.

”Gabriel, now!”

”I know.......”

Even though Gabriel’s voice was still in her usual half-dead tone as if she was caught sleeping in class and hadn’t fully awakened, in contrast, her eyes were now sharp like an eagle’s.

At the same time, Gabriel drew three arrows, seamlessly nocked them on the bowstring, and shot them!

”Whoosh!”

Three arrows flew out simultaneously, hitting the gemstone atop the BOSS’s head in the blink of an eye, causing the BOSS to flinch backward. As a result, the BOSS didn’t receive any healing, and the drop of dew that fell from the leaf grazed the BOSS’s body, landing on the ground and disappearing.

The BOSS staggered, and the tree behind it vanished as well.

”Keep attacking!!”

Seeing this, Fang Zheng let out a sigh of relief. Although Gabriel was lazy and reclusive, her skill was still reliable. With her around, things on his side got a lot easier!

Time ticked by.

Overall, the battle against the final BOSS was progressing smoothly. Fang Zheng was in charge of full command and offense, Aoba and Seven Seas handled defense, Gabriel focused on interrupting the BOSS’s healing, and the remaining team members either broke the shield or switched to outputting damage. They fought persistently with the BOSS.

Of course, there were still casualties during the battle. As the final BOSS, it was only natural for its attack range to be vast, its damage high, and its attack frequency rapid. Under such circumstances, unlucky players or those reacting too slowly would inevitably die.

Fang Zheng couldn’t do anything about this. The battle was so intense that he couldn’t oversee the entire field, especially as the BOSS’s health points decreased, its attack frequency increased, and its released Skills became less predictable, making it even harder to deal with. Often, it relied on the team’s on-the-spot reactions to barely fend it off.

But, after all, they managed to hold on!

”—————!!”

Finally, after another round of attacks, the BOSS’s health dropped into the red zone. At the same time, the BOSS let out a furious roar.

It’s going berserk!

”Everyone, attention!”

Upon seeing this, Fang Zheng felt a jolt in his heart. However, the BOSS reacted more swiftly this time than ever before. It raised its weapon and started a wild spin, scaring the girls into quickly flying in different directions to avoid the attack. However, at that moment, Fang Zheng noticed the BOSS’s eyes suddenly emitted a dazzling red radiance......

”Not good, quickly scatter!”

Yet, before Fang Zheng’s words had even finished, a bright red light beam shot straight out from the BOSS’s eyes, aiming towards Yuki not far away!

”Whoosh———!”

Yuki’s response was quick. The moment she realized she was being targeted by the BOSS, she flipped over and leaped, then activated her Three-Dimensional Maneuver Gear to swiftly drift to the left. However, the beam relentlessly pursued Yuki, showing no signs of stopping.

Yet at this moment, Yuki found herself with nowhere to retreat. If she continued moving in that direction, she would lead the BOSS’s beam into the crowd!

Thinking of this, Yuki seemed to make a decision. She suddenly stepped on the wall, then dodged to the other side!

That idiot!

As Yuki made her move, Fang Zheng immediately sensed her intention. Obviously, Yuki intended to sacrifice herself to protect the others. But......did you ask me if you wanted to die?

”Eiriri, Black Cat, move! Gabriel, attack the BOSS’s eyes, block it for me!”

At that moment, Yuki landed steadily after a flip, her dual swords crossed, glaring at the red beam that trailed behind her. She couldn’t help but take a breath———although Yuki was prepared to sacrifice herself, in the face of death, she ultimately still......

”Get out of the way———!!”

However, just at that moment, a sharp scream suddenly echoed in Yuki’s ears. Yuki was surprised to see Eiriri carrying Black Cat, maneuvering the Three-Dimensional Gear, flying over from the air. Eiriri then aimed Black Cat at Yuki and hurled her forcefully!

”Bang!!”

Black Cat, descending like a cannonball, collided directly into Yuki, knocking her away. Black Cat then rolled to a stop, stood up, and lifted the black umbrella in her hands, opening it abruptly.

”Boom!!”

The red light beam struck Black Cat’s umbrella, and Black Cat gritted her teeth, standing in front of Yuki to defend against the BOSS’s attack.

”Ugh... what a joke, just a mere BOSS, daring to act fierce in front of me, the Nightmare Queen... let me show you the power of my Dark Power......”

While resisting the attack of the red light beam, Black Cat still remembered to recite her chuunibyou lines, but at the same time, her health points were rapidly decreasing.

”Black Cat...!”

”Don’t worry, there’s still someone else!”

”Boom!!”

As if to validate Black Cat’s words, at that moment, the BOSS’s shield was shattered again. At the same time, an arrow from Gabriel seemed to be guided automatically, piercing through the BOSS’s eye.

”—————!!”

The scream sounded again, and the BOSS, in pain, lifted its head, letting out a furious roar.

In the next second, a pitch-black sword light fell from the sky.

”Boom!!”

Fang Zheng’s greatsword slashed straight into the BOSS’s forehead, and then all the way down, from the forehead to the chin, to the chest and abdomen, before landing heavily.

At the same time, the BOSS’s health points hit zero.

”Boom!!!”

Dazzling radiance exploded and scattered, and then the BOSS’s massive body vanished without a trace.

”......”

For a moment, no one in the room spoke. Everyone stared blankly at the scene in front of them, as if they didn’t know what had just happened.

Then, an emotionless electronic voice quietly emerged.

”Emergency notification to all players: The game is now in forced management mode, all creatures and item transactions are suspended, all NPCs have been withdrawn, and all players’ health is locked at maximum—Aincrad standard time, March 5th, game strategy completed.”

”We will log you out of the game one by one, please stay where you are and wait. I repeat once more......”

Hearing the electronic voice in his ear, Fang Zheng closed his eyes and let out a long breath.

He didn’t bother to see what the final BOSS dropped; at this point, there was no need.

The game... was over.
