Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 961: Chapter 960: The Quintessential Quintuplets (IV)

When Asuna returned to the base, it was already late at night.

Most people were already asleep, only Sophie was still wandering around in the courtyard... Asuna greeted Sophie and quietly entered the house specifically for them to rest, and then...

”Welcome back!”

”Whoa!!”

Seeing Eiriri suddenly jump out, Asuna almost cried out.

”Eiriri, what are you doing?”

”Waiting for you, everyone is waiting for you, come, come, come, quickly come.”

Eiriri didn’t answer Asuna’s question, instead she grabbed her wrist and pulled her into her room. It was only then that Asuna noticed that Eiriri’s room was filled with people, not just Black Cat and Aoba. Even Shinong, who usually didn’t show up much, was there... Seeing these people, Asuna pretty much guessed what Eiriri brought her over for.

”Come on, tell us, Asuna.”

Eiriri pressed Asuna’s shoulders, sitting her down in a chair, then placed a cup of tea and some snacks in front of her, and happily sat down opposite Asuna.

”You went on a mission with Mr. Fang Zheng, tell us what it’s about, what task did Rosalie give you?”

That’s right, this is the reason everyone gathered here waiting for Asuna to return. Although the content is random, knowing some details... doesn’t it make one more mentally prepared?

”Ugh... how did you find out?”

”I initially intended to gather everyone to discuss this task, but I couldn’t find you, so I went outside and asked Sophie. She said you went on a mission with Mr. Fang Zheng...”

Ah...

Upon hearing Eiriri’s answer, Asuna remembered she had indeed run into Sophie earlier when she went to the Flower Field with Fang Zheng. At this time, it would be normal for anyone else to have gone to sleep, but Sophie, the night owl, defied expectations...

Since she’d been caught red-handed, Asuna didn’t plan to keep it secret; after all, it wasn’t anything shameful.

”Hmm... Rosalie’s first task was to have Fang Zheng and me go to the Flower Field.”

”Uh-huh, and then?”

”That field of flowers was so beautiful, especially at night... the sea of white flowers under the moonlight, with a gentle breeze carrying a shimmer...”

”Wow...”

Upon hearing Asuna’s description, Yuki and Leafa exclaimed in amazement, clearly finding the imagery romantic just by listening.

”And then, and then?”

”Then... the first task was completed.”

Asuna was of course not going to delve into her conversation with Fang Zheng, so she dodged the details. However, the group didn’t seem to mind; at least hearing Asuna’s story made many relieved. From her description, this task seemed to be quite ordinary and straightforward, just like the other online game tasks they had done before.

”What about the second task then?”

”The second task...”

Saying this, Asuna’s face suddenly turned red, she lowered her head and hesitated for a while before almost whispering through gritted teeth.

”It-it-it was to have Fang Zheng and me... k-k-kiss...”

”Eh———!!”

Upon hearing this, the other girls instantly exclaimed, and Yuki even curiously pounced in front of Asuna, staring at her with wide eyes.

”Did you kiss Fang Zheng, Asuna sister?”

”No, no, no!!”

This time Asuna shook her hands hurriedly.

”Mr. Fang Zheng just kissed my cheek, and the task was completed, I mean it! There was no real kissing!!”

”Eh......”

”Phew.........”

Upon hearing Asuna’s answer, half of the girls sighed with disappointment while the other half breathed a sigh of relief. Despite most of them having agreed to marry him initially, indicating they had feelings for Fang Zheng, none wanted their first kiss to be given away so casually. Now it seemed Mr. Fang Zheng was indeed gentlemanly and gave a sense of safety, which reassured them.

At least they didn’t have to worry about Fang Zheng trying to take advantage of them during tasks.

Of course, there was also a portion led by Eiriri who showed disappointment.

”And what about the third task?”

But Eiriri clearly wasn’t giving up and continued to ask, but this time Asuna showed a somewhat troubled expression.

”.........There wasn’t one.”

”There wasn’t one? What do you mean?”

”After completing the second task, there was no prompt for the third task......”

”Eh......?”

Upon hearing Asuna’s response, everyone was surprised.

Is this even possible?

”Could it be that your previous task wasn’t completed, and you failed?”

This time Shinong curiously asked, after all, by Asuna’s earlier account, it seemed entirely possible the second task hadn’t been properly completed.

However, Asuna shook her head vigorously.

”No, it definitely was completed, I can confirm it, and it’s recorded here. But somehow, the third condition’s task didn’t appear......”

At this point, Asuna herself was confused; she had considered the same issue Shinong suggested, thinking maybe she hadn’t completed the second task. But the second task was indeed completed, the system record won’t lie, so why didn’t the third task appear?

After that, Fang Zheng took Asuna to a church and wandered around but still couldn’t trigger the third task, and they had to return without it.

”What about the DEBUFF?”

”It was gone too.”

”Is it possible that it was originally meant to be two tasks, and there was a system error?”

This time Aoba shared her opinion.

”After all, according to many game processes, it’s usually finished at this stage, isn’t it?”

”But it’s clearly written as three requirements....”

”Hehehehehe......”

However, as the girls discussed, suddenly a strange laugh echoed, and everyone saw the previously silent Black Cat stand up and wave her hand at them enthusiastically.

”No need to discuss, I’ve already seen the ending, the truth is only one!”

”.........???”

Looking at Black Cat like this, the girls all had question marks on their faces, but since they’d been with Black Cat for so long, they knew when Black Cat got like this, she certainly had discovered something interesting.

And Black Cat proudly puffed her chest, pressing her hand against it, and spoke.

”Just now, I received instructions from the Undead of the Dark Abyss, that tomorrow, I will fulfill her sorrowful wish! Ending this pitiful chain, severing this dark cycle, I, the Fallen Angel Black Cat, will guide this lost soul to where it belongs!”
