Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 959: Chapter 958: The Quintessential Septuplets (II)

After Fang Zheng organized things, it was finally confirmed that a total of seven people had accepted the so-called ”marriage application.”

They were Asuna, Eiriri, Aoba, Black Cat, Shinong, Leafa, and Yuki.

Fang Zheng could understand Eiriri, but what about the others? What on earth?

Generally speaking, receiving a sudden marriage application, a reaction like Yuna’s should be normal, right? And some girls didn’t click it immediately; instead, they planned to ask me face-to-face. How come this feels like the normal approach?

But going ahead and confirming it without a word, what kind of situation is this???

Anyway, all we can do now is wait and see what kind of tasks the system will randomly issue. At least this is a network game; theoretically, it shouldn’t issue tasks that violate social mores...

However, it wasn’t long before Fang Zheng received contact from Asuna.

”Mr. Fang Zheng, my first task... has already appeared.”

”Oh?”

Upon hearing Asuna speak, Fang Zheng immediately glanced at her task bar. Sure enough, the task [Rosalie’s Wish] appeared in Asuna’s task bar.

[Task: Rosalie’s Wish]

[Rosalie can never forget the beautiful sea of flowers she once admired with her boyfriend. Now she wants to relive those beautiful memories.]

In other words, this is a task that requires two people to travel to a certain destination to complete, right?

Seeing this, Fang Zheng couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief. Although he also thought that the game wouldn’t randomly issue indescribable tasks, he was at least somewhat worried. But now it seems the task design is still quite orthodox, just a matter of two people going somewhere, defeating enemies, obtaining items... these are the most common requirements in online games.

Thus, Fang Zheng quickly organized himself and then left the base, using the Teleportation Crystal to reach the ghost town on the sixty-fifth floor.

When Fang Zheng arrived, Asuna was already there waiting for him. Seeing Fang Zheng appear, Asuna also relaxed.

”Mr. Fang Zheng, you finally came.”

”Sorry, it took a bit of time...”

Nodding to Asuna, Fang Zheng glanced around.

”So, where’s the task destination?”

”It’s said to be in the flower field northeast of town, but... I haven’t checked it out...”

”......”

Indeed, given Asuna’s fear of ghosts, just standing here might have nearly killed her. And it’s deep into the night, with eerie winds gusting through the ghost town, leaving not a single player visible, almost turning Asuna’s legs to jelly.

”Then, let’s go.”

Fang Zheng nodded to Asuna, then confirmed the direction and started walking toward the northeast of town. Asuna hurriedly took a few quick steps to follow beside Fang Zheng, uneasily glancing around as she quickened her pace.

Clearly, the sixty-fifth floor is entirely themed around ghosts and supernatural creatures. Not only does the town itself look like it’s straight out of a horror movie, but even the surrounding scenery is similar. Overhead, dense clouds cover the sky, and a piercing cold wind occasionally sweeps past, carrying an eerie, almost wailing sound. Not to mention the gnarled tree trunks, dried yellow leaves, and the desolate fields around...

”Mr. Fang Zheng, aren’t you scared?”

The further they went, the more anxious Asuna became. After all, although the town looked terrifying, it was at least a safe zone. Asuna knew that even if there was something scary inside, it wouldn’t really harm her, just give her a fright.

But now, outside the safe zone, they’re in a combat area... what if a creature suddenly appeared...

”Nothing to be afraid of; the atmosphere is quite nice, though.”

Facing Asuna’s query, Fang Zheng remained calm; he was joking, having traveled through numerous worlds and seen all sorts of things. Who would be scared by something purely designed to frighten?

”Ugh... Why can Mr. Fang Zheng be so calm?”

Seeing Fang Zheng’s calmness, Asuna pouted in dissatisfaction. She’s fought alongside Fang Zheng for so long and has almost never seen him afraid of anything, which irked Asuna. After all, it always ended up making her look foolish in front of him.

Is there really nothing that Fang Zheng is afraid of?

”Because I’ve seen a lot.”

”Seen... a lot?”

”That’s right.”

While answering Asuna’s question, Fang Zheng glanced at the girl beside him.

”Perhaps what you see as fearsome, I’ve actually seen a true hell...”

”......???”

Listening to Fang Zheng’s response, Asuna was puzzled, unaware of what Fang Zheng meant. But she could sense from Fang Zheng’s tone that he wasn’t lying or being boastful, just calmly stating a fact... But seriously, what kind of person is Mr. Fang Zheng?

”Mr. Fang Zheng...”

”Hmm?”

”I... no, never mind...”

For a moment, Asuna wanted to ask Fang Zheng something, but she promptly swallowed her question. Just then, Asuna suddenly saw a dark figure silently drifting past beside her...

”A ghost! Mr. Fang Zheng, there’s a ghost!!”

Seeing this scene, Asuna immediately screamed in fright, clutching Fang Zheng’s arm tightly and hiding behind him. Fang Zheng quickly turned toward where the shadow had appeared, and then...

”Ah, Fang Zheng, Asuna...”

”Sophie?”

Seeing the white-haired girl emerging from the trees, Fang Zheng was taken aback.

”What are you doing here?”

”I’m taking a walk.”

In response to Fang Zheng’s inquiry, Sophie replied calmly.

”Leafa mentioned the environment here is nice, so I came to check it out... and it is quite nice... What are you and Asuna up to?”

”We are headed to the northeast flower field to complete a task.”

”A task, I see... about the flower field, if you follow the path here, you’ll reach it.”

Gesturing toward the path near her, Sophie continued.

”The flower field is beautiful; you’ll surely like it. Well then, I’ll wander around the other way.”

”Be careful, although it’s close to the safety zone, there could still be creatures lurking.”

Fang Zheng advised Sophie, though he wasn’t worried about her safety. This ”ordinary vampire” girl, despite only staying in dimly lit places where she couldn’t see people, possessed decent strength. Had Sophie not insisted on avoiding sunlight, Fang Zheng would have already recruited her into the raid group.

”Don’t worry, I’ll be heading back to town for a stroll.”

Sophie departed with a wave, meandering back toward the town. Only when Sophie left did Asuna realize she was holding onto Fang Zheng’s arm without knowing when it happened, and she could even feel the...

”Following Sophie’s directions, it’s this way—let’s go.”

Fang Zheng didn’t seem to notice, casually pointed to the path, then turned toward it. Asuna closely followed Fang Zheng, glancing at the arm she was holding, she hesitated.

Ultimately, she decided not to let go...
