Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 899: Chapter 898: Do It Yourself for Abundance

”Clang... clang... clang...”

In the narrow little shop, the crisp sounds of hammering rang out from time to time. Fang Zheng sat at a nearby table, watching Liz swing the hammer in her hand repeatedly.

Although it was called a blueprint, in fact, it was entirely different from a real-world blueprint. This was only natural; players come to play the game, and if it were so hardcore, it would be unappealing. For most people, professional design blueprints are completely incomprehensible, akin to a mouse trying to pull a turtle with no way to handle it.

However, there’s no need for such sophistication in the game. In fact, the entire forging process is quite simple: first, refine the materials, then activate the blueprint—not so much a blueprint as a mold. For example, a blueprint of a sword unfolds into a 3D groove in the shape of a sword. The player’s task is to place the materials into the groove and gradually hammer them in. Once the groove is entirely filled, a sword is crafted.

As for the attribute value, it depends on luck and the materials’ bonuses.

Fang Zheng drew blueprints in the same way. First, he made a 3D sketch in the system, then ”transferred” it onto the parchment to give it form.

”Done!”

As Lisbeth spoke, she placed a greatsword on the table with a ”snap.”

”The attribute value is quite decent, but... why does this sword look so strange?”

Looking at the greatsword on the counter, Lisbeth’s expression was puzzled because this sword was entirely different from the weapon she had imagined.

Rather than a sword, it looked more like a massive cleaver, as long as a person’s arm. From the side, it resembled a curved spine, with tightly packed, sharp and tough serrated edges that were like beast teeth. Furthermore, unlike ordinary weapons, even the handle of this cleaver was somewhat curved... In short, Lisbeth didn’t like this sword because it looked too brutal, somewhat like something out of a horror movie.

”Hmm... it really is quite good.”

Fang Zheng didn’t mind. He reached out for the cleaver, swung it a few times, and then nodded in satisfaction. However, upon seeing Fang Zheng’s expression, Liz felt compelled to say something.

”Isn’t the weight of this thing... a bit too much? And what exactly is the use of such a weapon?”

In response to Liz’s inquiry, Fang Zheng turned to her and smiled slightly.

”Let me show you a bit of magecraft.”

”Magecraft?”

Hearing Fang Zheng’s words, Liz was a bit puzzled. Fang Zheng then turned away, focused on the floor before him, and raised the cleaver in his hand, swinging it forward with force!

”Crack!!”

Just as Fang Zheng swung the cleaver, Liz suddenly heard a faint sound. To her astonishment, she watched as the cleaver in Fang Zheng’s hand suddenly split into layers, extending swiftly and hitting the ground like a long whip, then retracting with a ”clatter.”

Fang Zheng swung casually again, and with his motion, the cleaver once more split and extended, sweeping across the floor before retracting just as quickly—though this wasn’t entirely accurate, to Liz, it seemed like a yo-yo being pulled by a string.

However, the sides of this yo-yo wouldn’t have such ferocious and terrifying blades.

”Hold on, does this thing... shapeshift?”

Lisbeth’s eyes widened almost to the point of popping out. Although this cleaver looked incredibly terrifying, she had never seen a weapon that could shapeshift!

”That’s right.”

Fang Zheng nodded, then lifted the cleaver in his hand and slammed it heavily on the ground. Soon, the cleaver, which had extended and transformed, returned to its original form.

This was precisely the weapon Fang Zheng crafted using the principles of the monster cleaver in Anan World. Anan World primarily used cold weapons, and Fang Zheng had a particular fondness for these extendable, transforming weapons, so he spent some time studying their structure.

In this world, with Ester and Restia taking human form, Fang Zheng had been seeking a handy weapon. Initially, he figured he could just grab a greatsword and get by. But when the system wouldn’t give him a Two-Handed Sword, he had no choice but to take matters into his own hands.

Although this monster cleaver was made with ordinary materials by Lisbeth and lacked special attributes, its attack power and damage matched that of the current top equipment. While it lacked attribute bonus damage, Fang Zheng was confident he could make up for it with his skills. As for the rest...

”Could you help me with the other one too?”

”Sure.”

After watching Fang Zheng’s demonstration, Lisbeth became interested. She hadn’t considered that it was possible to make such a shapeshifting weapon and was now eager to start work again.

This time, however, Liz’s workload was far from simple.

Although Fang Zheng’s monster cleaver was odd, it was still a weapon blueprint. The blueprints Fang Zheng gave next were mostly components, varying in size, which made Lisbeth completely baffled. She initially tried to understand what these parts were for, but gave up halfway through... She decided to wait for Fang Zheng to give a conclusion.

This time Liz took longer than before, but the task was simpler because each blueprint had just one component, making the process straightforward. With a series of ”clang, clang, clang,” she finished forging a bunch of parts.

”Alright, I’ll leave the rest to you.”

Liz pushed the pile of parts toward Fang Zheng and curiously leaned on the counter, watching as he began assembling them piece by piece. Her curiosity was piqued, wondering what Fang Zheng would finally create.

Fang Zheng did not mind. He simply sat at the table, inspecting the components as he assembled them one by one.

At first, Liz was merely curious, but as she watched, her expression began to shift.

”Hey, I mean...”

But Fang Zheng didn’t respond and continued assembling the parts, while Liz’s face turned nearly pale.

”That’s not what I think it is... right?”

”Which one?”

”The thing in your hand...”

Seeing the object forming in Fang Zheng’s hands, Lisbeth was so shocked she could barely speak, her face turning white as her teeth chattered.

It was just too familiar!

A long tube, a wooden grip, and a trigger...

Isn’t that a gun?!

However, Fang Zheng said nothing, quickly assembling the weapon in his hands. He tested its weight and then placed a bullet inside—a bullet that Lisbeth had made earlier while wondering what could possibly need gunpowder!

”Bang!!!”

The deafening gunshot made Liz cover her ears. Fang Zheng looked at the smoking barrel of the gun and nodded in satisfaction.

”The range is a bit short, but the power is quite good.”

”Quite good... do you know what that is?!”

Lisbeth, rubbing her ringing ears, finally came to her senses and shouted at the counter.

”That’s a gun!!”

”Yes, I wanted to make a gun. Any problem with that?”

Faced with Fang Zheng’s question, Liz was momentarily stunned.

”But... but that’s illegal!!”

”...Illegal?”

Hearing Liz’s response, Fang Zheng paused.

”Illegal where?”

”Uh...”

It was then that Liz realized they were indeed in a game world, and manufacturing guns in a game... didn’t technically break any laws?
