Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 882: Chapter 881: Caught 1 Elite Player

No time to waste. Since Fang Zheng learned from Argo that there are sufficiently skilled members, he immediately got up and asked Argo to take him to find the person.

”This person is pretty easy to find.”

Argo led Fang Zheng towards the Starting Town while speaking.

”Not only is their skill strong, but their level is also high. To be honest, many guilds have tried to recruit them. However, their requirements are quite strict: they must win against them in a duel to join.”

”Oh? A high level? How high?”

”Slightly lower than you, Level 19.”

”Nineteen...”

Hearing Argo’s answer, Fang Zheng was momentarily stunned, then frowned. In Fang Zheng’s view, this leveling speed was somewhat surprising. Although the girls he led had mostly reached this level too, they achieved it primarily through nearly endless leveling up.

However, according to Argo, this person spends three hours a day dueling in the central square, indicating that they are not the type to obsessively level up by monster hunting. If they can still reach Level 19 in this situation, unless it’s a system bug, then there’s only one possibility.

Fighting against higher-level monsters.

Interesting.

Fang Zheng could also fight higher-level monsters, but he didn’t intend to because merely increasing his level held little meaning. Moreover, the maximum level limit for the first floor is Level 25. In fact, by now, the experience Fang Zheng received had dwindled, and farming monsters in the wild brought almost no benefits.

If it was just fighting higher-level monsters, Fang Zheng might suspect whether the person intended to seek death—just like Asuna before: appearing fierce but essentially giving up everything, like a flame trying to burn until fully extinguished.

However, the person not only fights higher-level monsters but also initiates duel challenges in the central square. This makes it interesting. This indicates that this person is not just seeking death; they have a clear purpose.

As they spoke, the two had already reached the central square. Looking around, they saw groups of people gathering everywhere, from where sword glints and the activation sound of skills were heard, along with the cheering of spectators. Clearly, many people were dueling here.

”Looks like the situation is pretty good.”

Watching the scene before him, Fang Zheng nodded in satisfaction. He carefully studied the duel system; when dueling is initiated in safety zones, both parties can fight until one person’s HP drops to 1, thus losing and ending the duel. After the duel, HP restores, so there’s no worry someone will die in such a duel.

Fang Zheng had also written in the ”Survival Manual” that you could practice skills by using duels to train and familiarize with your combat techniques and style. It appeared many players were adopting this method.

Whether that player is among them, Fang Zheng couldn’t tell.

”Ah, indeed, over there.”

Argo glanced at the square and pointed to a certain place. Fang Zheng followed Argo’s direction and indeed saw a crowd gathered, cheering and encouraging. However, the crowd gathered there was far larger than elsewhere.

”Many guilds want her support, so daily, you can see leaders from large guilds coming here to challenge. But so far, no one has succeeded.”

As Argo spoke, he patted Fang Zheng’s shoulder.

”Hope you can succeed.”

Hearing Argo’s encouragement, Fang Zheng shrugged, then stepped into the crowd. When he reached the center, the duel had just ended.

”I lost.”

A black-haired girl in a black lightweight swordsman attire stood there, holding a sharp blade. She looked at her longsword and then bitterly smiled and shook her head.

”I didn’t expect you to be more formidable than rumored.”

”Hahaha, don’t say that. Actually, big sister, you’re already quite impressive.”

Responding to the black-haired girl’s words, the girl opposite her with long purple hair laughed cheerily and gestured a V sign for victory.

”But, I’m stronger!”

”Indeed...”

Faced with the purple-haired girl’s words, the black-haired girl nodded.

”But I won’t give up. Next time, I’ll challenge again.”

”Always welcome, big sister!”

The purple-haired girl waved goodbye to the black-haired girl, who smiled slightly and left the battleground. Seeing this scene, the surrounding spectators began to discuss.

”Even Her Royal Highness the Princess isn’t her match...”

”No way, she doesn’t even join big guilds like Dark Nebula?”

”This is trouble; who can possibly beat her now?”

”Hey, want to give it a try?”

”You’re joking. I don’t have that skill. Why don’t you try? You kept talking about participating before.”

”Well, I said that, but losing is really embarrassing...”

No wonder the spectators felt embarrassed. After all, the girl looked about twelve or thirteen years old but consecutively defeated so many top players with such high skill. If anyone fought her and lost under the gaze of a crowd, they would probably feel ashamed. Even winning... didn’t seem that rewarding.

”Anyone else want to try?”

The girl’s voice was innocent and cute, giving a feeling of pure innocence. However, after the previous duel, it seemed others weren’t planning to step forward and face defeat.

But that didn’t mean Fang Zheng would just stand by.

”I’d like to give it a try.”

Saying this, Fang Zheng stepped boldly forward. The purple-haired girl looked at him with surprise and scanned him curiously.

”Big brother, you want to challenge me?”

”That’s right.”

”Are you from a guild or something?”

”Something like that.”

Fang Zheng spread his hands and shrugged.

”Actually, I’m planning to form a guild. It’s just that I lack members, so I’m looking for people with skills. I heard about you, so I’m here to try. How about accepting the invitation?”

”Of course.”

Fang Zheng’s response left the purple-haired girl somewhat surprised, but she quickly smiled brightly and raised her longsword.

”I’ve said it before, as long as big brother can defeat me, I’ll join.”

”Great.”

Fang Zheng nodded and then took out his greatsword from behind.

”Let’s begin.”

”...A greatsword...”

Looking at Fang Zheng’s greatsword, the purple-haired girl hesitated for a moment, then smiled excitedly.

”Interesting, big brother, this is my first time facing a greatsword opponent. Hope you won’t disappoint me!”

Saying this, the purple-haired girl opened the system and swiftly issued an invitation.

Quickly, a system prompt appeared in front of Fang Zheng.

[Yuki invites you to a duel]

Yuki... is that the child’s name?

Seeing the prompt, Fang Zheng reached out to click confirm. As he did, a countdown appeared before him.

[5, 4, 3, 2, 1...]

[Duel Start!]
