Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 853: Chapter 852: What is the main storyline of this instance?

When it comes to matters at the divine level, Fang Zheng doesn’t quite understand, but when Little Angel explained using a game, he quickly got her point.

Simply put, someone got a ”Unreal 3” game engine and tried to make a game with it. However, they only created one map, and because it was riddled with bugs, with conflicting character settings and data clashes so severe that it frequently crashed, they ultimately decided to toss it into the recycle bin.

Fang Zheng didn’t think this was the work of the Goddess of Order, and the reason was simple: as a seasoned driver, based on the Sanctuary’s records, Fang Zheng estimated she was the type who could program blindfolded for eighteen hundred hours without making a mistake, a veteran coder. Such rookie mistakes were basically out of her league.

Furthermore, Nymph’s explanation indirectly confirmed this.

”This abandoned space was originally hidden in the crevices of the third dimension, but because it kept running in loops, erroneous data accumulated, eventually overflowing into the real world, causing an impact. That’s why you and Lady Fina were able to enter this abandoned space; theoretically, this space shouldn’t allow entrance from the real world.”

Thus, Fang Zheng could assert that this was definitely not a ”test instance” by the Goddess of Order; such a failure would either be deleted directly or reformatted altogether. Stuffing it away in some deserted place like this was simply... alright, rookie level.

”So, what is the main quest of this instance?”

After listening to Nymph’s explanation, Fang Zheng crossed his arms, pondered for a moment, and asked, while Walnut raised her hand beside him.

”Isn’t it simulating cultists spreading plague, and then heroes come forward to stop them? Didn’t Lady Fina also receive a request for help from that NPC? That’s usually the game’s main quest, right?”

”The streets of this world are full of such things, there’s no need to particularly make an instance for it.”

Upon hearing Walnut’s inquiry, Fang Zheng shook his head; this place wasn’t Earth. In the Main World, a random remote village might have a bunch of cultists stirring trouble. From Fang Zheng’s perspective, instead of going through the trouble to create such an instance, he’d rather find some cultists himself; it’d feel more ”authentic.”

”Nymph, can you find a way to run through the entire main quest of this instance?”

”Of course, please wait a moment.”

Though in combat strength, Nymph might just be on the same level as Walnut, when it comes to information manipulation, the Little Angel is Heavenly Dao Palace’s ace. If she couldn’t manage it, then there was truly no way.

Fortunately, for now, it seemed that it wasn’t difficult for the Little Angel.

Soon, everyone saw Nymph raise her hand, waving in the void, and then tiny points of radiance appeared in front of her. Before long, the surrounding scene began to transform once more. Soon, what was once a pitch-black village now had flickering lights, and the silent world gradually filled with the sounds of hustle and bustle. Villagers walked back and forth on the streets, greeting each other, wearing smiles as they finished a day’s work.

Yet, it seemed these villagers paid no attention to Fang Zheng’s group standing in the middle of the road, mindlessly walking their own paths. Occasionally, when someone was about to bump into them, they would veer off like encountering a tree or a stone.

”What is... this?”

”I used the information manipulation rules from the Hacker World to make a few minor modifications.”

Nymph smiled gently.

”Now we are in ’spectator’ mode; they won’t notice us, and we can’t interfere with them.”

As Nymph spoke, soon, the comical scene unfolded. Those previously joyous villagers began to scream in agony, spouting blood from their mouths and falling to the ground. In an instant, the entire village turned into hell.

This is a very laughable sight.

Yes, laughable.

Though from the content, this scene should only induce fear, but...

”...the creator had poor control over the physical engine of space.”

Seeing this sight before her, Nymph sighed helplessly.

”This is all I could restore.”

In front of everyone, a villager was spewing blood while shaking his head vigorously, moving his body back and forth. It was clear that this portion was originally set as ”the villager spits blood, leans over, and falls,” a simple process.

Yet, in fact, everyone only saw this villager spout blood while bending and straightening in a motion reminiscent of doing calisthenics, and his whole body kept bouncing... looking just like a disco-dancing zombie...

This scene was not only bizarre but could even be described as comical.

There was also a villager who, after falling to the ground, began rolling downhill like a bowling ball, chaotic and unstoppable, knocking everyone in his path into the air. Another villager was not only knocked into the air but literally flew ten meters high...

Some even fell together, and their bodies interlaced directly... Glitched through!

Watching these scenes unfold, Fang Zheng and the others felt caught between laughter and tears; according to content, this was supposed to be a cruel and pitiful scene, but actually witnessing it, Fang Zheng felt... alright, if it weren’t for Fina nearby, he’d have laughed his head off by now.

Then, the next moment, without warning, the whole village was engulfed in flames, and those villagers dropped just like machines suddenly powered down.

”Hmm... I see.”

Watching this scene, Fang Zheng nodded, meaning that the creator of this ”instance” made ”peaceful village,” ”night village,” ”burning village,” three overlapping maps, switching between them by time?

”But what’s the point of this?”

Kurumi furrowed her brows, confused as she focused on the village engulfed in flames before her.

”I haven’t seen anything useful yet?”

”Perhaps the useful parts aren’t found here.”

Watching those villagers’ corpses being ”refreshed” as ghouls crawling back up, Fang Zheng shook his head.

”Let’s check out the cultists’ location.”

Returning to where the cultists once were, soon, Nymph performed another test. This time, everyone saw the cultists performing rituals repeatedly, praying to some evil god at the altar, and receiving a response.

However, the results varied each time.

Consistently granted by the evil god to Uncle Rand each time was a bottle, but Uncle Rand’s reactions to consuming what’s inside differed entirely each time.

Fang Zheng remembers clearly; the first time, Uncle Rand outright exploded.

But now here, with each repetition of ”the ritual,” Uncle Rand’s ”modes of dying” became bizarre and diverse. He dissolved into a puddle, burned to a crisp by flames, or screamed, transforming into a hideous undead creature or some other monster.

”What do you make of what this is trying to accomplish?”

Watching Uncle Rand mutate into a monster yet again and collapse, Fang Zheng furrowed his brow and glanced back at the others. They, too, shook their heads, clearly uncertain of what was happening here.

But at this time...

”Come now, this is your bestowed gift!”

Suddenly, that voice rang out once again, and simultaneously, Fang Zheng noticed a bottle emerging from the flames yet again. Unlike before, this time, a faint golden light flickered within the bottle.

Furthermore, alongside that, Fang Zheng felt an exceptionally faint yet incredibly pure Power of Order!

”This is... the Goddess’s power!!”

Fixating on the bottle that shimmered with dim radiance, Fina shrieked!

”What?”

Hearing Fina’s exclamation, Fang Zheng was startled; he hurriedly looked forward once more, and at this moment, Rand had already lifted the bottle once again, taking a gulp!
