Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 857: Chapter 856 This Nonsense Isn’t Just Spouted Thoughtlessly

Knocking her out and taking her back was just a fleeting thought in Fang Zheng’s mind. Of course, he couldn’t really do that to Fina, otherwise he would look guilty, wouldn’t he?

But how to solve this problem...

”Sigh...”

Looking at Fina, Fang Zheng let out a sigh.

It’s like a motherless child, it’s a long story...

”In fact, it all starts with this sword of mine.”

As he spoke, Fang Zheng took out his pitch-black greatsword, and Fina curiously laid her eyes on the sword.

”This sword... what’s the deal with it?”

”Actually, Lady Fina, this sword is a magic weapon I stumbled upon during one of my adventures. The story goes that I, just like you, accidentally ended up in a small town called Anan, and there...”

While speaking, Fang Zheng slightly modified his story about his experience in the Anan World and told it to Fina. Of course, as for Ancient Gods and such, he completely changed those, and as for the cultists... Fang Zheng didn’t need to change a thing, as their methods were pretty much the same as those cultists in the Main World.

According to Fang Zheng’s description, there was basically a group of cultists in Anan trying to unleash a Chaos Monster that had been sealed. Fang Zheng, passing by, saw injustice and drew his sword to assist, wiping out the cultists. Then he and some locals went to the cultists’ location to try to stop their plan.

However, plans couldn’t keep up with the unexpected changes. Although Fang Zheng and his party managed to kill the cultist leader after much effort, the seal was still broken by them before they died. In fact, this sword is the symbol of the Chaos Monster’s seal.

At this critical moment, one of their companions stepped up, sacrificed herself, and merged her spirit with the sword. Then Fang Zheng used this sword to vanquish the Chaos Monster and seal its remaining power once again...

Fang Zheng had written such stories countless times in game storylines, so it came naturally to him. Listening to it, Fina was completely dumbfounded, and even Kurumi and Walnut looked bewildered. As for Restia, residing in the greatsword, she was simply speechless with only ”...” as a response.

”Come out, Restia.”

To add to his credibility, Fang Zheng called to the greatsword, and faced with Fang Zheng’s summon, Restia let out a resigned sigh. Then everyone saw a flicker of light and shadow, and in the next moment, a figure appeared behind Fang Zheng.

”So now, you should understand... Lady Fina?”

Looking at the astonished Fina in front of him, Fang Zheng smiled, trying to convince her, but quickly realized that Fina’s eyes were wide open, her cheeks bright red, and Walnut beside her let out a yelp and covered her eyes. As for Kurumi, she stood there with a cheerful grin, looking thoughtfully behind herself.

What’s going on? He was just using Restia to impress people, did something go wrong?

Suddenly, he saw a pair of snow-white arms extend from behind him and gently embrace him.

”At your summons, Master...”

”Restia, you... What the heck!”

Fang Zheng turned his head and almost cursed when he saw Restia floating behind him. He finally realized why Fina and Walnut had those expressions!

Usually, Restia wore a black lace dress, but unlike Ester, she didn’t wear knee-high socks and didn’t have a particular obsession with them—well, Fang Zheng originally thought it was some weird habit of sword sprites, but it seems it’s probably just Ester’s own peculiarity.

But now, Restia, who appeared behind him, was stark naked!

Damn, Restia, are you messing with me!

Especially with Restia’s current expression, looking lovelorn like a ghost infatuated with a scholar; combined with the story Fang Zheng just told, anyone with a bit of common sense could easily imagine a melodramatic tale of half a million words, where during their adventure, the two fell for each other. In the end, Restia sacrificed herself to help her beloved, and then bound to the weapon to forever stay with Fang Zheng...

”Mr. Fang Zheng...”

Alright, without needing to say more, seeing Fina’s teary-eyed look, it was clear she had over-imagined.

”...In short, that’s it.”

Fang Zheng wasn’t a fool; he realized that Restia did this probably to express her dissatisfaction with him randomly making up her backstory and ”killing” her off. So she decided to joke around with him a bit. But what else could Fang Zheng do? He had to accept the consequences of his own actions...

”I understand!”

This time, before Fang Zheng could say anything, Fina nodded vigorously.

”I won’t inquire any further, Mr. Fang Zheng, I hope you two will be happy!”

”No, this is not quite what I meant...”

It really wasn’t my intention...

Although the outcome was rather speechless, Fang Zheng managed to muddle through it, achieving his goal in a way. As for what to do next... Fina said she would return to the Sanctuary to report the occurrences here to the higher-ups. The ability to ”steal” the Goddess’s Power was a very serious matter, and the Sanctuary had to investigate. Although according to Nymph, this was just a failure, who knows if someone successfully constructed a similar ritual elsewhere?

If they created a group of demigod cultists, that would be catastrophic!

After thinking it over, what if they aimed to artificially create an Evil God?

Hmm... Considering the crazies in Anan all wanted to artificially create Ancient Gods, Fang Zheng thought there was a significant risk...

During this time, Fina also invited Fang Zheng to join her on her journey, but Fang Zheng politely refused. His relationship with the Sanctuary was a bit awkward. Honestly, Fang Zheng felt like he was cursed with the Sanctuary; he attended two Sanctuary banquets, and both times, something happened. What if he visited them again and they held another banquet for him...

Better to skip it.

After that, Fang Zheng and his party bid farewell to Fina. Initially, Fang Zheng also planned to leave with Kurumi and the others directly, but unexpectedly, Walnut grabbed him and, after a moment of hesitation, made a small yet surprising request.

”...You want to start a Mercenary Group here?”

”Yeah.”

Upon hearing Fang Zheng’s question, Walnut excitedly nodded her head.

”Going out with you, Big Brother Fang Zheng, made me realize how thrilling this world is! I want to stay here a bit longer! Build a Mercenary Group, just like in anime and games...”

Looking at the excited Walnut, Fang Zheng also patted his head; he had forgotten Walnut was somewhat of a gaming enthusiast, so to her, this was almost like a time-travel to another world. In Japanese light novels, games, and anime, there were all sorts of mercenary groups, and it was clear Walnut was itching to follow those protagonists and try it out.

”But, this...”

”I also think Walnut’s suggestion is good.”

Just as Fang Zheng hesitated, Kurumi also spoke up from the side.

”Mr. Fang Zheng, you mentioned that the Heavenly Dao Palace has a deep connection with the Main World, yet we don’t have a smooth information channel there. I believe establishing a Mercenary Group could allow us to utilize another identity to better gather intelligence from this world and use it as our information channel.”

”You have a point.”

Upon hearing Kurumi’s statement, Fang Zheng nodded. Though he could use ”Ratziel” for investigation, there must be a target because, in such a vast world, how do you know which information is useful?

Though communication with the Sanctuary was currently smooth, Fang Zheng couldn’t assure they wouldn’t hide some information due to certain considerations. Furthermore, the two parties were ultimately different organizations, relying on another organization for intelligence was indeed foolish.

”Then, it’s decided this way.”

In the end, Fang Zheng agreed to Walnut’s request.
