Chapter 892: Chapter 891: Players on the Verge of Explosion

As the news of the first-level boss being defeated spread, the players in the entire Starting Town exploded completely.

The notification for the boss’s defeat to open the path appeared as a global prompt, as all players received the alert at the first moment. Their initial reaction was disbelief, causing many to sit dumbfounded in their chairs, and after a few seconds, they erupted into wild cheers, shouting and running around waving their arms.

For a moment, players could be seen screaming, jumping, and hugging each other all over the streets. Fortunately, the NPCs in this Starting Town hadn’t evolved to human-level intelligence, otherwise seeing this scene, they might have called an ambulance to send these laughing and crying, shouting and fussing players to a mental hospital.

Just as Fang Zheng predicted, after being trapped in this game for nearly a month, most players’ spirits were at their limits. No one having defeated the boss made them uneasy, leading to all sorts of wild speculations.

Could the boss be too difficult to defeat? Or did everyone refrain from fighting out of concern for their lives? Or maybe someone tried but was completely wiped out?

In such a scenario, the mindset of lower-level players would become increasingly unstable, leading to restlessness among the whole player group. For this reason, several guilds like the Dark Nebula and the Red Knight Order decided to venture into the Core Zone to challenge the boss. If nothing was done to resolve the issue, the situation would worsen.

However, what they didn’t expect was while they were still preparing for the boss challenge, a guild had already defeated the first-level boss!?

What kind of guild is the Dark Moon Sword? How many members do they have, and why were they able to defeat the boss?

These were everyone’s questions, but no one could answer them. The guild formed by Fang Zheng consisted of members he personally recruited, and the guild’s name was decided only after reaching full membership. Since they were always leveling up on the front lines, no one but Argo knew about the details of Fang Zheng and his group.

Well... the issue is, Argo knows quite well about Fang Zheng and his group.

Moreover... she is an information broker.

Soon, leaders of the major guilds paid for and received detailed information about the Dark Moon Sword Guild from Argo. When they found out the Dark Moon Sword Guild had only ten members, everyone was stunned.

Only ten people to overthrow the first-level boss? And it was a zero-casualty battle?!

This isn’t a joke, is it?

Upon regaining their senses, the major guilds immediately tried to contact the Dark Moon Sword Guild, hoping to either establish good relations, absorb its members at great cost, or obtain some boss-fighting experience from them.

However, just as the major guilds were eagerly preparing to take action, the publication of the second issue of the Survival Manual threw even more fuel onto the already fiery player community!

Because the second issue of the Survival Manual included not only a detailed description of the types, distribution, numbers, and respawn rules of the Core Zone creatures but also a complete boss battle process!!

Now, unless a player was extremely foolish, they quickly realized that this Survival Manual was obviously connected to the Dark Moon Sword Guild!

In the second issue of the Survival Manual, Fang Zheng not only detailed the boss battle process but also provided, according to his calculations, safety requirements for challenging bosses on each floor—In order to safely challenge a boss, it was recommended that players’ levels be at least ten levels higher than the floor level they wish to challenge.

In other words, to challenge the bosses from layers 1 to 10, players needed to be at least Level 20. To face the bosses from layers 10 to 20, players needed to bring their levels up to Level 30.

This information was significant for major guilds because while a boss fight was a single occurrence, finishing them doesn’t mean an end to content. Based on logic, a main quest instance would be the most difficult, but side instances could also offer considerable rewards.

Previously, these guilds didn’t dare to open new instances due to concerns about their danger level. With the Survival Manual now giving them descriptions, they were somewhat relieved. If being Level 20 was sufficient to face the first-level boss instance, then that level should also be safe to challenge other side instances.

For players aspiring to tackle instances, improve themselves, and leave this world soon, this was welcome news. Before this, they didn’t know what level they should be to explore which areas or how to coordinate battles. But now, they had enough information; it was just a matter of whether they were willing to take that step.

Yet, just as major guilds were planning with great enthusiasm, they realized... they needed to resolve a rather serious internal issue beforehand!!

”...Have you decided, Yuna?”

Looking at the chestnut-haired girl in front of her, Black Snow Princess was visibly reluctant, while Yuna nodded.

”Yes, Princess, I want to join the Dark Moon Sword.”

”............”

Hearing Yuna’s response, Black Snow Princess sighed helplessly. The Yuna before her was not just an exception; the truth was, upon learning that the majority of the Dark Moon Sword’s members were female players, many female gamers from various guilds wanted to join the Dark Moon Sword as well.

The reason was simple; although female gamers were indeed a minority in the game and by the logic of rarity deserve better treatment, this was applicable only in general online games. In this death game, their identity was not a good talisman.

Many female players were new to fully immersive games and some were new to games entirely, struggling even with controls. Even if they got familiar, they often lacked the courage or skill to fight. Those willing to fight were few, and those both capable and willing to fight were even rarer.

Furthermore, Black Snow Princess knew there was another reason these female players wanted to join the Dark Moon Sword—harassment.

Due to the disadvantages faced by female players, survival was difficult without relying on male players, who would often harass them or make excessive demands.

This caused great distress for many female players, but there was little they could do. Unable to survive independently, even if they tried, male players would harass and obstruct them. But in a guild predominantly composed of female players, the situation would be much better.

However...

”I’ve heard that the entry requirements for the Dark Moon Sword are extremely strict. Can you really handle it?”

After the defeat of the first-level boss, many sought to join the Dark Moon Sword, and the guild indeed started to accept new members, but their requirements were outrageously high. To join, prospective members had to pass three trials. Failing the first trial meant immediate departure. Failing the second allowed them to join as support staff, but only those passing all three trials could become official members of the Dark Moon Sword.

Based on the information Black Snow Princess gathered, most were eliminated at the first trial, with a few passing the second trial joining as support staff, and only a scant few made it past the third trial.

In all honesty, Black Snow Princess truly envied the Dark Moon Sword’s approach. She knew a carefully selected team would have combat capability and cohesion, but she couldn’t match it... The Dark Nebula was initially established to recruit and gather crafting players, with two-thirds being from the production line, and the remaining third were mostly hangers-on.

This gave Black Snow Princess a headache, but she couldn’t afford to be as decisive as the Dark Moon Sword. They had substantial achievements, having defeated the first-level boss without any casualties, which was enough to command players’ obedience.

Not to mention the Survival Manual’s influence. Written by ”F,” it was almost every player’s lifeline. Combined, unless the Dark Moon Sword asked them to die, players would likely agree to any demands.

Truth to be told, if the Dark Nebula wasn’t the guild Black Snow Princess created, she herself would be tempted. After all, it was more appealing than dealing with the tedious politics in her guild!

”Here’s what we’ll do, Yuna.”

Finally, Black Snow Princess made a decision.

”I’ll hold your position here temporarily. Once you pass the Dark Moon Sword’s trials, we’ll decide what more for you, otherwise...”

”Oh, no need for that, Princess.”

Yuna seemed a bit troubled by Black Snow Princess’s words. She hesitated a moment before speaking softly.

”Well... the guild leader of the Dark Moon Sword personally invited me... I’ll be heading directly to the front lines as part of the raid group...”

”............”

Upon hearing this, Black Snow Princess went silent.
