Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 889: Chapter 888: Carve out Mirai with the sword in our hands (Part 1)

”Quick, they’ve left, let’s follow them!!”

Watching as Fang Zheng and his group continued deeper into the maze, the girl hastily emerged from the corner of the wall, quickly running forward with the Heavy Axe Warrior.

But when they rounded the corner, they were surprised to find no one in sight.

”Huh? Where did they go?”

Staring at the empty passage, the girl was stunned. However, before she could say anything, suddenly a dagger was pressed against her throat.

”Don’t move!”

”Careful!”

At this moment, the Heavy Axe Warrior also seemed to sense the danger. He hurriedly reached out, trying to grab the axe on his back, but quickly, two sharp longswords crisscrossed against his throat, preventing any further action.

”Ah... So someone really was tailing us. I thought he was just talking nonsense...”

With this lethargic voice, the girl and the Heavy Axe Warrior soon saw a petite girl with messy blonde hair emerge from the shadow, continuously swinging a one-handed hammer in her hand.

”I asked if you were okay, there was someone following you and you didn’t even know.”

”What could I do?! Just scouting ahead is tiring enough, I don’t have the energy to worry about the back!”

Upon hearing Gabriel’s reprimand, Eiriri, who held a dagger against the girl’s throat from behind, also shouted.

”Mr. Fang Zheng, it seems there are only these two, no others.”

As this voice echoed, Asuna and Yuki came from the path where the two had appeared earlier. Soon, others hidden nearby also emerged, surrounding the two completely.

”Who are they?”

”Could they be here to exploit the situation?”

”Just two people trying to take the Lord?”

”Maybe they’re scouts?”

”I—We’re not here to oppose you!!”

Hearing the discussions around them, the girl quickly raised her hands, waving them to explain. Previously unnoticed from afar, she now saw these people appeared to be about her age—or even slightly younger—girls, which made her breathe a sigh of relief. At least these girls didn’t look like bad people.

”We are from the Dark Nebula Guild, we’re here on a scouting mission...”

”Scouting?”

At this moment, Fang Zheng stepped out, and others immediately made way. He approached the pair with a greatsword on his back, carefully assessing the duo in front of him.

”...Yes, yes.”

Being stared at by Fang Zheng’s sharp eyes made the girl instinctively uneasy, but she mustered the courage to nod.

”I’m Yuna from the Dark Nebula Guild’s frontline team, and this is Agil... We’re here because the guild leader wants to strategize an assault on the first-floor Lord, and we’re here as scouts for reconnaissance.”

Dark Nebula... Ah...

Hearing this name, Fang Zheng recalled the black-haired straight-laced person who exchanged friend contacts with him before. He remembered the onlookers mentioning she was the president of the Dark Nebula Guild, referred to as Her Royal Highness...

Thinking of this, Fang Zheng waved his hand.

”Eiriri, Ester, Leafa, release them.”

Hearing Fang Zheng’s orders, the three also lowered their weapons, putting Yuna and Agil somewhat at ease.

”Eiriri, check the situation behind.”

”Alright.”

In response to Fang Zheng’s words, the blonde twin-tailed girl nodded, sighed helplessly, and quickly vanished into the corridor again. Meanwhile, Fang Zheng reached out and opened the system, finding the friend name ”Black Snow Princess” and opened communication.

Before long, Black Snow Princess’s voice came through.

”Mr. Fang Zheng? I didn’t expect you to contact me. Are you planning to join the Dark Nebula?”

”Not really, I just have a question for you... Do you have players named Yuna and Agil in your guild?”

”Eh? Did you meet Yuna?”

Hearing Fang Zheng’s inquiry, Black Snow Princess’s voice was noticeably surprised.

”I sent them to the Core Zone for reconnaissance, in preparation to attack the Lord... They’re not in trouble, are they?”

”No, just a small issue.”

After receiving the answer, Fang Zheng decisively ended the call, then looked at the two again. Meanwhile, Eiriri’s figure reappeared.

”The kobolds behind have respawned.”

”What now, Mr. Fang Zheng?”

At this moment, Aoba also held onto her longsword, watching Fang Zheng nervously. This wasn’t their first time exploring the ruined castle; they had entered three times before, each time resulting in Fang Zheng deciding to retreat due to various reasons.

But this time...

”I—I won’t get in your way!”

As Fang Zheng pondered, Yuna suddenly spoke up.

”I also want to defeat the Lord. I can be of assistance to you!”

”You?”

Upon hearing this, Fang Zheng scrutinized Yuna once more. Judging by her equipment, she wasn’t even Level 20 yet, and her gear was quite shabby. Besides Fang Zheng himself who wielded a forged two-handed sword, everyone else used weapons dropped by forest and swamp elite monsters (truly a tragedy).

But the weapon at the girl’s waist was a dagger, and the armor was just the most ordinary leather armor... It didn’t seem capable of much combat strength.

While Fang Zheng didn’t say it outright, he could only think—girl, you’re overestimating yourself wanting to take on the Lord with that gear...

Perhaps sensing the meaning in Fang Zheng’s gaze, the girl hesitated, then looked up at Fang Zheng and spoke.

”I have a special skill!”

”Yuna!”

Hearing Yuna’s words, Agil beside her widened his eyes in shock. He reached out to grab Yuna, attempting to stop her from revealing more, but she deftly dodged Agil, stood in front of Fang Zheng, and clasped her fists, gazing at him.

”...Special skill?”

”Yes!”

Yuna nodded firmly and continued speaking.

”My special skill, ’Chant,’... can add BUFFs to players!!”

”What?!”

Hearing this, not just Fang Zheng, but everyone else was taken aback.

A special skill was an extremely rare skill type. Even Fang Zheng hadn’t figured out the conditions for its occurrence, and each seemed to have specific conditions. At least, he hadn’t acquired any special skills thus far. A special skill that could add BUFFs to players was unheard of...

”Does your guild know about your special skill?”

Fang Zheng scrutinized the girl again and asked. He felt that Dark Nebula might not know about Yuna’s special skill. If they knew it had such capability, they’d treat her as a treasure, not send her as a scout.

After all, at this early game stage, skills, gear, and potions that add BUFFs to players were nearly nonexistent!

A player who could add BUFFs was far more valuable than an ordinary combat player!

”No.”

Yuna nodded firmly.

”I only acquired this skill two days ago, and it’s not fully developed yet...”

”So why are you telling us? Aren’t you afraid we might kidnap you... well, it’s impossible in the game, but if we wanted to kill you, it wouldn’t be that hard. Aren’t you afraid of the danger?”

Fang Zheng found it quite strange. Why was the other party so open with him? Could it be she fell in love at first sight because of his looks?

Oh, well, if that’s the case, I’m really sorry. Being handsome is something I can’t help with, even though I don’t want it. However... society’s eyes are sharp.

”Because I think you can defeat the Lord.”

Yuna looked at Fang Zheng again.

”Therefore, I wish to contribute my strength. I also want to complete this game as soon as possible, leave this world, and return to my family... And I see that possibility in all of you.”

”Hmm...”

This time, Fang Zheng didn’t immediately respond. After contemplating for a while, he looked at Yuna again.

”You do realize that if we fail, you will die too.”

”Yes, I’m very aware.”

”You also have to know that the fight against the Lord will be dangerous. We won’t go out of our way to protect you, and even if we win, you won’t be given any spoils of war.”

”I understand.”

”Alright.”

Since the other party had said so much, Fang Zheng had no reason to say more.

”Then, welcome to the team, Miss Yuna.”
