Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 449: Chapter 448: Nodding Off and Someone Offers a Pillow

”You were truly reckless, Your Excellency Fang Zheng!!”

Upon returning to his room, before Fang Zheng had even settled into his chair, Ogrande burst in, the door flung open in a fit of rage, glaring at him with dissatisfaction.

”Didn’t you realize that those people did it on purpose?”

”Of course, I did, but what they said made sense, didn’t it?”

In response to Ogrande’s questioning, Fang Zheng appeared calm. Not only that, but he even casually took a cup of tea from Midori’s hand beside him, sipped it gently, and then cast a smile that was not quite a smile towards the fuming young lady.

”Or are you suggesting you have another way?”

”Of course, we have other ways! We could put aside this matter for now and then send someone to negotiate with the higher-ups on their side...”

”But I have no interest in wasting time on such silly nonsense.”

Fang Zheng interrupted Ogrande, shrugging his shoulders as he did so.

”Such bickering offers me no benefits. In fact, I should even thank them... mmm, if it weren’t for those guys popping up at the last minute, I really wouldn’t know what to do...”

”Do you even understand what you’re saying?”

Hearing Fang Zheng’s reply, Ogrande could only helplessly roll her eyes.

”You’re about to engage in the Judgement Ceremony with them!!”

”I’m well aware of that, don’t treat me as if I were illiterate.”

Fang Zheng had been in this world for quite some time and was naturally aware of the existence of the Judgement Ceremony. It was, at its core, akin to the judicial duels of the Middle Ages. When both parties disagreed and each claimed to be in the right, this method was used to carry out judgment before the Goddess of Order. Of course, as time had passed, the Judgement Ceremony had evolved more into a way for two powers to resolve disputes, since in this world, the one with the bigger fist still calls the shots...

The Judgement Ceremony itself consisted of team battles and individual battles.

The team battle required each side to present five participants, limiting it to those whose strength was below the Legendary Realm, while individuals battles had no such restrictions and were open to anyone. The combatants would fight matches with the outcome of two victories determining the winner. If there was a draw, each party would proverbially ’take a spanking’ and go home, but if one side claimed both victories, that side would be declared the victor of the Judgement Ceremony.

Most importantly, the winning side could make a demand of the losers that neither violated justice and public order nor the accepted norms.

Thus, the Judgement Ceremony was a rather significant formal duel for both sides. For instance, if the victor demanded the loser to crawl on the ground barking like a dog, the other side had to do it. Failure to comply would result in a loss of credibility on the continent.

But compliance would also turn them into a laughing stock...

Not to mention, not everyone had the right to initiate the Judgement Ceremony; only the leaders of a faction or organization could make such a demand, while regular nobility or commoners had no such privilege.

As the Commander of the Seventh Fleet, General John had this right, and Fang Zheng, as the leader of the Heavenly Dao Palace, had it as well.

However, this was precisely why Ogrande was worried!

Although the Judgement Ceremony needed to be officiated and was conducted in front of a large crowd, ensuring the Kingdom of Flame and the Land of Wealth wouldn’t dare to play any tricks, they had brought many mighty individuals this time. Finding five participants would be all too easy for them.

But on Fang Zheng’s side... it seemed, aside from girls, there were only girls!

Ogrande surely knew Black Katie was formidable, but the other side’s power undoubtedly surpassed the Legendary Realm. However, she was somewhat puzzled that Tilia, who had been following Fang Zheng before, did not attend this time. And the others... well, it wasn’t that Ogrande looked down on those girls, but in her view, children under ten, regardless of their prodigious talents, could not match the seasoned veterans...

Even if there was no concern for the individual battles, what about the team battles?

There was no concept of pulling punches in the Judgement Ceremony, meaning if anyone was injured or killed during the clash, they would just have to suffer in silence.

”So, judging by your expression, it seems you are worried about my children?”

”Isn’t that obvious?”

Ogrande crossed her arms and glared at Fang Zheng, full of discontent.

”They are still children after all, can’t you find someone more reliable? If you don’t have enough people to participate in the group battle, then let our Platinum Family step in!”

”I appreciate your concern, but that won’t be necessary.”

In response to Ogrande’s suggestion, Fang Zheng shook his head. Seeing Fang Zheng’s reply made Ogrande stamp his foot in frustration.

”Really... Hmph, no appreciation for goodwill! You’d better win, otherwise our reputation will be ruined because of you!”

Having said that, Ogrande huffily turned and stormed out of the room, slamming the door behind him with a ”bang.”

”Really...”

Watching the closed door, Fang Zheng helplessly shook his head. At that moment, Fumie Busei, standing to the side, timidly raised her hand.

”Big, Big Brother, I want to participate!”

”Good, then that’s one for Midori. Who else?”

”I also want to participate, Brother Fang Zheng.”

With that voice, Tina silently hopped in through the window with her gun on her back, and beside her was Aohara Enju. She grinned, waving her hands, then flashed a victory sign.

”Of course, this young lady wouldn’t miss this opportunity!” frёewebnoѵēl.com

”Me too, Brother Zheng.”

Natsuse stood up from the side, raising her little hand.

”Brother Zheng saved our lives. It’s time for us to fight for Brother Zheng. Even if it means sacrificing our lives, we will not hesitate.”

”I didn’t bring you here just to let you die for nothing.”

Looking at the young girls in front of him, Fang Zheng smiled and reached out his hand, touching their little heads.

”However... You do need to experience the power of the strong in this world firsthand... Hmm... This is a good opportunity. But indeed, we need some insurance...”

Thinking this, Fang Zheng closed his eyes and used concept transmission to contact the Sea Mist mind models who were wandering about outside.

”You’ve seen what happened today. I need a hand, who will it be from among you?”

”I, I’m willing to help Big Brother...”

What Fang Zheng didn’t expect was that the first to respond was the soft-spoken Unicorn. However, after some consideration, he decided against it. After all, her appearance... wasn’t exactly conducive to battle.

Before long, another person stepped forward.

”Clearing the obstacles for the master is the duty of a maid.”

Belfast, huh?

Looking at the girl who appeared before him in a maid outfit, Fang Zheng pondered. Indeed, if it was Belfast... Hmm, it still seemed a bit lacking. If possible, he would have preferred Rodney or Musashi, but their way of fighting was too extravagant; Fang Zheng was genuinely worried they might accidentally blow up Golden Bay, and that would be a real problem.

But just as Fang Zheng was about to make a decision, suddenly, a light voice floated from the side.

”Commander, I heed your call and have come from a faraway place...”

This is...

Hearing this voice, Fang Zheng paused, then looked at the quietly appearing girl and his eyes brightened immediately.

”Then, it’s you!”
