Chapter 445: Chapter 444 Are These Children the Chosen Ones?

”Move aside!”

Seeing the incoming sword light, Aohara Enju also shouted loudly before she pushed her companions aside and suddenly kicked forward. A red Psionic Sphere shot out from the tip of the girl’s foot, meeting the sword light head-on, and the two forces collided heavily.

”Boom!!!”

Accompanied by the sound of an explosion, the Psionic Sphere and the sword light burst upon impact, sending shockwaves and dust flying in all directions.

”Hmm?”

At that moment, suddenly, an unexpected voice sounded, and then a blurry figure appeared in front of Enju.

”Little girl, you’re quite strong...”

As the dust settled, a young man in leather armor, holding a longsword, stood there. He looked like the kind of despondent adventurer one might see anywhere in a tavern, not only appearing out of sorts in his posture but also unkempt and slack in his appearance. Nonetheless, his eyes carried a playful gleam.

”Hmph, of course, you haven’t seen who I am.”

Enju proudly puffed up her chest, thumping her still-flat chest. Watching her reaction, Natsuse nearby silently reached up to press his forehead and sighed. If it were Natsuse, he would have considered leaving by now, but it seemed Enju had no intention of letting things go.

”Interesting.”

Hearing Enju’s talk, the man also smiled slightly.

”Honestly, you are a very interesting little girl, but unfortunately, you shouldn’t have attacked Master Steven.”

”He bumped into our people first, not only did he not apologize, he even tried to hit us! How is it our fault?”

Enju was determined not to take the blame, while the man just shook his head.

”That’s different, little girl. Master Steven is nobility, and you... well, your attire clearly marks you as a servant. Unfortunately, although some noble lords are indeed both ugly and stupid, they can forgive anything done to someone like you as long as it’s not too egregious. However, any disrespect from you towards nobility is unacceptable.”

”...I don’t like this at all.”

Hearing this, not just Aohara Enju, but also the other Cursed Children’s expressions changed slightly, clearly reminding them of the days in their own world.

”Just because of different statuses, we should be treated differently?”

”It may sound ridiculous, but that’s just the way it is.”

As he spoke, the man spread his hands.

”Alright, I’m sure you don’t want to cause trouble for your master, right? Just come over and apologize to Master Steven, and this matter can be considered resolved... What do you say?”

”Hmph! I’m not going to apologize to that guy!”

Hearing this, Aohara Enju suddenly jumped up like a cat whose fur had been ruffled.

”Rather, that guy should be apologizing to us! He clearly did something wrong, but just because of his status, he wants to avoid responsibility and point the blame elsewhere? Dream on!”

Faced with Aohara Enju’s reply, the man slowly dropped his smile and nodded.

”While I admit this is indeed absurd, unfortunately, duty calls... If you refuse, then I have no choice but to give you a little taste of hardship.”

”That’s what I should be saying! If that man doesn’t apologize to us, don’t blame me for beating him till he can’t get up!”

”Well, there’s nothing to be done then...”

Hearing this, the man bowed his head, sighed lightly, and then he raised his longsword...

”Swoosh!!”

A figure flashed past, and the next moment, the man gripped his longsword, striking towards Enju!

”Hmph!!”

As she faced the man’s attack, Enju also snorted lightly, and then she bent down, shooting forward like a cannonball towards the man. At the moment Enju reached the man, his longsword suddenly erupted, transforming into streams of silvery light that crisscrossed and slashed toward Enju.

”Haahhh!!”

Enju’s reaction was just as quick; at the moment of the sword light’s eruption, she yelled furiously, suddenly spinning around and kicking one of the sword lights. With the help of the momentum, she flipped and then swiftly kicked out again. Accompanied by a series of clashing sounds, the two exchanged more than a dozen moves in the blink of an eye.

”This.......”

The surrounding crowd was dumbfounded.

They of course knew who that man was—he was Alfred, a genius swordsman of the Kingdom of Flame’s younger generation, who had entered the Grandmaster Realm at only twenty-five years old. His creation, the Brilliant Sword, was renowned for its speed. Rumors said his thrusts were relentless, as fast as streaks of light. Today, seeing him in action, his reputation was indeed well-deserved.

But of course, what surprised everyone wasn’t Alfred, but the small girl fighting against him!

Whenever Alfred struck, everyone thought the little girl would be in trouble immediately. But to their surprise, instead of retreating in face of Alfred’s Brilliant Sword, she was capable of fiercely confronting him head-on!

It’s known that each progression in a Professional’s realm boosts their physical attributes. This meant that the girl before them not only matched Alfred in speed but even possessed the strength to combat him directly! Otherwise, even if she could keep up with Alfred, she would have been sent flying in an instant during the clash, instead of fighting him for so long!

”Ha———!”

In the midst of the sequence of attack and defense, Aohara Enju had also launched countless kicks. With a loud shout, she suddenly kicked out again, striking directly at Alfred’s sword blade. Accompanied by a light ”clang,” Alfred’s form wavered, and he was forced to step back several meters before he could stop. Aohara Enju, using the force of her kick, flipped in the air and then landed steadily on the ground.

At first glance, it seemed neither side had sustained much damage, but the black smoke rising from the girl’s boots and the slightly pale expression on Alfred’s face both proved how fierce the flurry of blows had been.

How could this be?

This time, everyone’s view of Aohara Enju changed. Alfred was known as a genius because he had entered the Grandmaster Realm at the age of twenty-five. Of course, geniuses weren’t necessarily common, but they weren’t exactly rare either. However, the issue was... the girl fighting against Alfred looked to be no older than ten!

I really didn’t expect this...

Looking at his trembling sword blade, Alfred had a bitter smile on his face. He shook his head and then put down his longsword as he looked towards Aohara Enju.

You are truly impressive, Miss.”

Of course I am.”

At hearing Alfred’s praise, Aohara Enju was so thrilled her nose might have touched the sky.

But I’m not the strongest one here, hmph, if only Midori were here, she could probably knock you down with just one move!

What?

At this, everyone was inwardly shocked. This girl already seemed monstrously strong to them; could there really be someone even stronger?

This is really something...

Confronted with Aohara Enju’s response, Alfred shook his head, his face showing he didn’t know quite what to say, then he sighed and sheathed his longsword.

All right, Miss, I am very sorry, it seems we have been rude...

You know now, uncle.”

Aohara Enju was not the type to hold grudges, and since she felt quite comfortable around the uncle,” she did not pursue the matter further. However, Alfred could only show a wry smile at her use of ”uncle.”

Uncle... I’m not that old yet...

You’re scruffy-looking, what else would you be if not an uncle?”

At that, Aohara Enju also waved her hand at Alfred.

So long, then, uncle. Natsuse, let’s head back.”

Wait a minute!

Watching Aohara Enju preparing to leave, Alfred hurriedly called out to her. Hearing his voice, Aohara Enju turned her head around, albeit reluctantly.

What is it now, uncle?”

”I’ve already said I’m not an uncle... Never mind, that’s not important. What I want to ask is...”

Here, Alfred’s expression turned serious.

Miss... would you be interested in coming to Fanriel?”

What does that mean? Are you inviting me to your country for a vacation?”

No.”

In response to Aohara Enju’s curious inquiry, Alfred shook his head.

What I mean is, I hope you can join our country... Miss, you have great potential, and I am certain that you will become a Legendary Powerhouse one day! If you agree to come to Fanriel, I can get you into the Claw of the Red Dragon! Not only would you be given nobility and status, but we would also provide you with ample resources! You could become a Lord!”

This guy, trying to poach in broad daylight?

At this, the way everyone looked at Alfred changed.

Do you think we’re invisible?

Lord? Nobility? I’m not interested, I’m doing just fine here with big brother, why would I bother going to your Red Dragon Claw.”

Although Aohara Enju clearly had no interest, Alfred clearly wasn’t ready to give up.

Don’t you feel even a little bit tempted? If you became a Lord, you would obtain the status of nobility!

Not interested!”

Aohara Enju waved her hand dismissively again.

Besides, what’s a Lord, anyway? Sister Tilia once told us we’re Chosen Ones!

What?!
