Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 428: Chapter 427: The Girls Progressing Step by Step

”Sigh...”

Fumie Busei took a deep breath, staring at her opponent. Across from her, Mibu Asaka held a taidao that was even longer than she was, her expression serious as she looked at her.

Both girls stood there, motionless.

There was only one chance.

As an opponent who had crossed swords more than once, Fumie Busei was very familiar with Mibu Asaka’s abilities. The petite, serious Cursed Child possessed a warrior-like combat intensity similar to her appearance. Once she launched an attack, she would transform from a silent rock into fierce, blazing flames. Now, reaching into those flames to pluck out a chestnut was not an easy task.

But she was not one to give up easily.

”...”

Perhaps sensing the change in Fumie Busei’s gaze, Mibu Asaka also tightened her grip on the taidao, squinting her eyes fiercely as she stared at the cat-eared girl before her. Fumie Busei still wore the witch-like triangular hat that Fang Zheng had given her, and her expression seemed so pitiable. However, Mibu Asaka was well aware that standing before her was the top-ranked, strongest member of the ”Hall of the Star Dawn,” ”Shadow Blade” Fumie Busei.

She had to be careful of her psionic attacks.

Releasing all her sensory power, Mibu Asaka nearly maximized her combat intent. Unlike Senju Natsuyo, who specialized in psionic attacks, Fumie Busei’s versatility was quite troublesome. Combined with her stealthy movements, one could easily fall victim to her tactics.

”Sigh!”

Suddenly, a cloud of black mist erupted in front of Mibu Asaka, instantly enveloping Fumie Busei’s petite frame.

Now was the moment!

Seeing this, Mibu Asaka quickly stepped back, gripping her taidao and sweeping it fiercely forward. As Mibu Asaka swept, a flash of red sword shadow flew out, completely tearing through the dense fog. However, at this moment, the figure of the cat-eared girl had already vanished without a trace.

Not good!

Looking at the empty space before her, Mibu Asaka was shocked, but before she could defend herself, she saw Fumie Busei silently appear from the void on her left. Then the girl reached out with her right hand, and with a ”swoosh,” faint traces of Radiance briefly appeared across Mibu Asaka’s chest, while Fumie Busei stood behind her, as gently as a cat.

As Mibu Asaka turned around, the badge on her chest also ”cracked” at that moment, completely splitting.

”Haah...”

Looking at her shattered badge on her chest, Mibu Asaka lowered her eyes and sighed softly, then shook her head.

”I lost.”

”Wow...!”

”Both are so amazing...!” freewёbnoνel-com

At that moment, the Cursed Children watching nearby also started clapping their hands and cheering joyously.

”...”

Hearing Mibu Asaka’s concession, Fumie Busei turned around, her long fingernails retracting at that moment. Then, she respectfully bowed her head to Mibu Asaka.

”Indeed, I still can’t beat you, Midori.”

”That’s because your style of attack isn’t quite suited for fighting against me,”

Hearing Mibu Asaka’s sigh, Fumie Busei quickly waved her hands, displaying an uneasy expression.

”Asaka, your taidao attacks need to be larger to be threatening, but that also makes the gaps bigger, and... I could only defeat you because the school rules state that breaking the opponent’s badge counts as a victory. But if we were really fighting, it probably wouldn’t be so easy.”

As Fumie Busei said, besides her strong power, Mibu Asaka’s greatest trump card was her ”armorization” all over her body. If Fumie Busei had targeted her heart or head, it naturally wouldn’t have been so easy. Unfortunately, the badge on the chest was a different matter.

”Didn’t you also refrain from using your psionic power?”

Mibu Asaka shook her head, clearly not accepting Fumie Busei’s statement. She knew very well that the close-combat specialized Fumie Busei, once she applied psionic power, could even punch through a steel plate with her bare hands. Even if Mibu Asaka had activated her armorization, if Fumie Busei were serious, she might easily have pierced through her chest and plucked out her heart.

”But...”

”Ding Ling.”

Just at that moment, a clear bell rang out, and upon hearing this sound, Fumie Busei, Mibu Asaka, and the surrounding Cursed Children all closed their mouths and respectfully gazed toward the source of the sound. Soon, Black Katie came forward, holding the Golden Scepter, and quietly stood before the two of them.

”Your performances were both quite commendable,”

the Grand Priestess’s voice was as usual, flat with no hint of emotional fluctuation, but the Cursed Children had obviously grown accustomed to Black Katie’s style, so there were no particular reactions. Black Katie quietly glanced at the girls before her and then continued.

”Next, I have something to announce to you...”

”......Royal Navy Fleet?”

”Correct.”

Tilia smugly curved her lips into a smile, scrutinizing the Cursed Children dressed in maid outfits standing before her.

”However, it has nothing to do with us. You just need to do your jobs well. Listen carefully, this ritual is the Heavenly Dao Palace’s first public appearance in this world, and you must not fail Elder Brother. You must execute your tasks with utmost precision! Especially you... Hotaru, can’t you smile a bit sweeter?”

”If it’s in front of the Master, then of course there’s no problem,”

upon hearing Tilia’s complaint, Red Dew Firefly responded somewhat awkwardly, and Tilia furrowed her brows.

”In that case, you are just ’a maid exclusive to Elder Brother.’ A true maid ought to treat guests with the same respect and welcoming smile... never mind, but according to Elder Brother, being emotionless also has its charm... Anyway, you all need to put in an effort, remember, this visit is a major event for the Heavenly Dao Palace, and all of you must strive hard, understand?”

”Yes!”

”Very good.”

Upon hearing the girls’ response, Tilia nodded with a smile.

”Now, maintain this position, stand for another hour!”

”What——————?!!”

”......A new modification?”

Natsuse stood at the table, eyes wide in surprise, looking at Nymph.

”But, Sister Nymph, the variable wing system is already in its final stage. According to your suggestions, wouldn’t this mean starting all over again?”

”If we work hard, we should be able to complete it within the scheduled time,”

Nymph answered while looking at the blueprints before her.

”This ritual is very important to the Master, we must do our best in every aspect.”

”But, we’re short on manpower...”

As one of the Cursed Children with the highest intelligence, Senju Natsuyo had become a senior researcher in Synapsus, only second to Nymph, and she also assisted Nymph in research and modifications. However, Natsuyo hadn’t expected that Nymph, after being away for only three days, would return and decide to completely overturn the core design of the variable wing system they had finally settled on?

”Don’t worry about that, the Master has brought us a new assistant,”

”—————!”

Just then, as if to respond to Nymph’s words, a peculiar item ”floated” in from outside the door. It was a sphere made entirely of brass-colored metal; at its front and on both sides below, there were small rings that looked like big eyes. This little device emitted ”beeping” sounds as it moved around Nymph and Natsuyo, appearing almost like a small animal.

”What, what is this?”

”The Master calls it Tanji,”

Nymph quickly explained to Natsuyo.

”It can be a big help to us.”
