Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 433: Chapter 432 What Kind of Ghost Development Is This?

Mr. Fang Zheng, of course, couldn’t possibly have taken a vampire on a date; he had so many things to handle at the Heavenly Dao Palace and with the arrival of the Royal Fleet, he had even more tasks to attend to.

For instance...

”Ah, Mr. Fang Zheng!”

As Fang Zheng walked through the door, Nanali waved at him excitedly and he nodded back at her before looking around.

”How are things? Any results from the nutrient solution research?”

”We’re almost successful!”

At Fang Zheng’s question, Nanali’s excitement was palpable. Since entering the Heavenly Dao Palace, she had done almost nothing but focus on the nutrient solution research for soilless cultivation, with Kuliya mainly assisting her and also acting as her external liaison—if it weren’t for her childhood friend, Nanali probably wouldn’t leave the lab for a month.

However, one had to admit, this reclusive alchemist did indeed have the air of a great scientist, at least... her current ”demeanor” was very close to the image of scientists Fang Zheng had seen in various history textbooks.

”Ah...! Nanali, how did you manage to get yourself in such a state again!”

Just then, Kuliya, who was yawning, also came out of the bedroom, and upon seeing Nanali, who looked like a mess, the girl suddenly screamed.

”You’re way too casual in front of Lord Fang Zheng, and there are guests too! Hurry and take a bath; what is that smell on you!”

”Eh? But...I still have to explain to Mr. Fang Zheng...”

”No buts! A young girl like you, how can you meet people looking like this? Hurry up and take a bath, I’ll handle things on Master Fang Zheng’s side!”

As she spoke, Kuliya pushed the disgruntled Nanali into the bathroom, then closed the door with a ’bang,’ sighed in relief, and then turned around to bow respectfully to Fang Zheng.

”I apologize, Master Fang Zheng, for such a spectacle...”

”It’s nothing.” fɾēewebnσveℓ.com

Fang Zheng certainly didn’t mind such trivial matters, as he was well aware of Nanali’s temperament; hence, he didn’t really care about it. On the contrary, he was quite interested in what the alchemist had mentioned earlier.

”Speaking of which, did she say the experiment was almost complete?”

”Yes, right this way, please.”

Kuliya, having once worked in reception at the Alchemists’ Association, was quite orderly in her presentation. She led Fang Zheng, the vampire, and Tina to a nearby lab table. Several wooden boxes used for soilless cultivation experiments were already placed there, marked with numbers, and the planting conditions were quite clear to see.

”Nanali had previously prepared fifteen batches of nutrient solutions, but after screening, only five batches met the criteria for further experimentation... What you see now are the last three batches left... Each has its own pros and cons.”

”Oh?”

Upon hearing this, Fang Zheng became interested.

”How so?”

”The first batch is currently performing the best; it fully meets the standards you require, Master Fang Zheng. The crops grow quickly, and the fruits mature without any abnormalities. However, the requirements for the precision of the nutrient solution formula are high, and it requires some expensive raw materials... Simply put, only a formal alchemist can prepare it, a mere apprentice wouldn’t manage the task. The second batch...although it’s less demanding to prepare and costs less, it requires very specific temperature conditions and might fail in extremely cold or hot climates. The third batch can perfectly achieve the desired effects, but one of its ingredients is hard to find...”

”Hmm...indeed, that’s a challenge, but it’s not our problem.”

Fang Zheng certainly understood Kuliya’s explanation; the fertilizer they had sold to the Northern Trading Company was easy and convenient to manufacture, even by alchemy apprentices. Thus, it could be mass-produced. However, these nutrient solutions demanded the expertise of a formal alchemist, which was rather demanding. After all, the number of formal alchemists was quite limited, and it was not feasible to expect them all to engage in such tasks.

However, for Fang Zheng, this was no problem at all, just as he had said. The nutrient solution was primarily intended for sale to the Kingdom of the Holy Church to change the current situation. If the Kingdom of the Holy Church could see the immense value it contained, they would naturally make great efforts to improve and develop it.

For Fang Zheng, this thing was mainly a stepping stone to bring him closer to the Kingdom of the Holy Church... Of course, mutual benefit was still very important.

”Can all the crops grown be eaten?”

”No problem, Miss Nymph has also checked. According to her, the crops grown using this nutrient solution seem to have higher nutritional value than those grown simply from the soil.”

”Bring out the cost comparison table for the three groups and let me see it.”

”Okay.”

Kuliya was clearly prepared. Hearing Fang Zheng’s order, she immediately took out a record book from the side. Fang Zheng took it and quickly flipped through it—well, good, this time Nanali hadn’t come up with something like ’Blood of the Black Dragon’ as an ingredient formula. However...

”What is this purple unidentified substance?”

Fang Zheng pointed to that strange recorded name in the record book. According to his observation, this item seemed to be an important part of the third group’s nutrient solution, and although the other ingredients were noted by Nanali as to where they could be found, only this thing...

”This...”

”You mean this, Mr. Fang Zheng?”

As she spoke, Kuliya’s expression was somewhat strange, and just then, Nanali emerged from the bathroom—by now this alchemist had cleaned herself up quite nicely, finally looking presentable.

”I was just about to ask you about this. Where exactly did you get this thing from?”

”Ask me?”

Faced with Nanali’s sudden question, Fang Zheng was also startled.

”Ask me what?”

”Well, that purple thing I found unintentionally while walking outside near the southern teleportation gate. I thought it was a mushroom or something, but after testing, I realized it was very suitable for use in the nutrient solution formula! But...I don’t know where it can be found...”

”What purple mushroom?”

Faced with Nanali’s wild gestures, Fang Zheng was even more baffled. Nanali hurriedly grabbed a box from a nearby laboratory bench and opened it.

”This one!”

”This is...”

Fang Zheng curiously leaned over to take a look, and upon seeing the true identity of the ”purple mushroom,” he was completely speechless.

Isn’t this a fungal carpet?

This must be something a Zerg accidentally left behind when they passed through the teleportation gate.

Thinking this, Fang Zheng couldn’t help but look at the girl in front of him with a strange expression.

You actually used a Zerg’s fungal carpet as an ingredient in the nutrient solution?
