Chapter 417: Chapter 416: The Sword of Destruction that Breaks Through the Skies

Fang Zheng had to admit that this Sea Mist Fleet indeed came prepared, and the timing they seized was also quite good.

Takao had her Shield broken due to concentrated fire and was repairing her armor, while Vampire and Iona had been heavily wounded by two sniper shots from the enemy. Then, this horde of Sea Mist Warships started raining missiles on them like mad, creating a fire net to prevent them from gaining altitude, all the while using their warship main guns to strike at their targets. This series of combination moves was like a perfect combo in a fighting game that left one struggling to defend.

Although Fang Zheng had considered that the enemy must have set traps, he would never have guessed that this Sea Mist Fleet would do something like this!

Would you believe that one Battleship and two Heavy Cruisers were lying on the seafloor, playing dead like submarines? With the Sea Mist being this formidable, who would need bicycles anymore!

However, fortunately, Fang Zheng had already planned for this.

”Everyone, reduce altitude, prepare to dive!”

”Dive?”

Upon hearing Fang Zheng’s command, Vampire and Takao were both startled. Although as Cosmic Warships they were equipped with Energy Shields and Klein Fields, diving wasn’t an issue. But why dive here?

Though puzzled in their hearts, they quickly started to reduce altitude as per Fang Zheng’s request, keeping level with Iona. But as they descended, those Sea Mist Warships behind them became even more jubilant. Previously, while in the air, only the warship main guns and missiles could reach them, but now, those Sea Mist Warships, mad with battle frenzy, even unleashed their secondary guns. Not to mention what was mounted behind them, with two long, thick, black...

”Master, we’ve been targeted!”

”Now, everyone, emergency dive!”

”Full speed diving...”

Upon hearing Fang Zheng’s command, Iona, sitting beside him on the table, also blankly repeated, then leaned forward. As she did, the Purification Level dived headfirst into the water, followed closely by Vampire. Only Takao was unlucky; because of her anti-scientific ”7” shaped design, she nosedived upon entering the water due to resistance, crashing onto the surface before sinking with a ”glug glug” sound.

”Takao, heavily damaged.”

Feigning damage and yet actually being heavily damaged.

Hearing Iona’s report, Fang Zheng rolled his eyes helplessly and then issued a command.

”Rodney, engage the attack.”

Meanwhile, as Iona and the other warships submerged into the water, Hiei also huffed coldly.

”How foolish, but this works too...”

In Hiei’s view, her tactics had achieved perfect effect; 401 and her group were clearly in disarray. Things might have been a bit troublesome had they remained in the air, but now that they had retreated into the water, the situation was no longer theirs to command. Just a wave of missile torpedoes and depth charges, and she was confident enough to blast these traitors to smithereens. Not to mention...

”Myoko!”

”Received.”

Upon hearing Hiei’s command, Myoko silently raised her head, her eye-patch embedded in her left eye, began to emit a faint Radiance. Simultaneously, the long, thick sniper cannon on the side of the Myoko warship began to spin rapidly, Accelerating... With the help of radar scanning, Myoko easily spotted the targets diving toward the seafloor and successfully locked on. Next, as soon as she fired...

”—————!!”

But before Myoko could take action, suddenly, a dazzling white light flashed before her eyes.

A light beam nearly a hundred kilometers long swept across the sea surface as if the Sword of Light had shaved off a layer of the sea itself with its high temperature and intense energy, and the light cruisers in front, tasked with the encirclement, were sliced in half by the beam as easily as cutting through butter. The Sea Mist’s prized Klein Field didn’t even have a chance to activate, as the warships themselves were cut open from the bottom and then exploded.

The Sword of Light, which had annihilated an entire Light Cruiser Fleet, did not stop there but continued forward, soon hitting Myoko at Hiei’s flank.

”Boom———!!”

In this moment, even Hiei at the rear could feel the scorching heat rushing towards her face, burning everything in its way, accompanied by a deafening roar as a giant mushroom cloud rolled up over the sea surface, with seawater rising to the sky, falling back down like rain droplets. Not only that...

”Myoko!!!”

The Myoko ship, which had been not far from Hiei’s side, was now belching thick black smoke, blown apart into two sections and slowly sinking.

”How could this happen...”

Seeing this scene, not only were Myoko and her two sister heavy cruisers dumbfounded, but even Hiei herself did not know what to say for a moment. The combat capability of the Myoko-class heavy cruisers was not the strongest in the Sea Mist, but they were still quite formidable, which was why Hiei had chosen them as her subordinates. As far as the defensive power of the Sea Mist heavy cruisers was concerned, unless it was a battleship’s supergravity cannon, it was nearly impossible to penetrate their Klein Fields. At this moment, Hiei had not detected any reaction from supergravity cannons. Could it be that the enemy was not using supergravity cannons?

Moreover... judging by the distance, was this an attack launched from 100 kilometers away?

”The Sea Mist light cruiser fleet, annihilated. Heavy cruiser Myoko, sunk.”

At this moment, high above in the distant sky, Rodney quietly watched her target, while softly reporting.

”Very well, continue the attack!”

”Yes, Commander.”

As she spoke, Rodney raised her right hand. Accompanying her move, the turrets on either side of Paladin once again glowed with a dazzling radiance.

”Because it’s crystalline ammunition, there’s no need to worry about wasting bullets, so... when dealing with the enemy, there’s no need to hold back now, is there...”

At this point, Rodney quietly watched ahead, and then she swung her right hand downward.

”———!!!!!”

The next moment, several light beams that combined to form the Sword of Light roared out of the barrel again, soaring across the sky towards their target.

”Boom!!”

Explosions rose again.

”Ugh...”

Looking at the situation on the sea, both Takao and Vampire gasped. In the face of Rodney’s bombardment, Hiei and Ashigara barely had any power to fight back. Every time Rodney fired a shot, a heavy cruiser was directly blasted into fragments. To them, the power of this main gun seemed to even surpass the supergravity cannon by not much. The problem was, for the Sea Mist, a supergravity cannon was a trump card, but for Rodney, this was just a regular salvo of the main guns!

”Habakuro, retreat immediately!!”

At this moment, Hiei’s face was ashen. She had not expected the enemy to possess such a formidable warship. Even she herself could not withstand such an attack!

”Hiei!”

Hearing Hiei’s order, Habakuro in front immediately attempted an abrupt stop to turn around and leave. But as she was shifting her ship’s body, another light beam shot from afar and struck right in the middle of Habakuro’s vessel.

”Boom!”

”Habakuro!!”

Looking at Habakuro, now snapped in half by the explosion, Hiei had no idea what to say anymore. The plan had been perfect; the enemy had surely fallen for her strategy. But why did this happen? She couldn’t believe that this was a reinforcement that had just arrived. If they had such powerful firepower, they could have sunk Ashigara and the others from the start, couldn’t they? Why wait until now... Ah.

At this thought, Hiei seemed to finally understand something, her eyes widening in realization.

So that’s it... The enemy was waiting for us to appear...

”Boom!!!!”

The ship’s body began to shake violently, and alarms went off. Hiei steadied herself, coming back to her senses. As a battleship, her defenses were naturally higher than those of a heavy cruiser. But even so, the enemy had managed to breach her engines with their bombardment. And she naturally would not be able to withstand the attacks that followed.

”I’m sorry... Sister Dear Kongo...”

Watching the light beam descending from the sky, Hiei closed her eyes and murmured to herself.

Then, fire and shattered debris soared into the sky, scattering in all directions.
