Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 416: Chapter 415: Even a Straight Hook Can Catch Fish

Finding the Sea Mist fleet led by Ashigara and Nachi wasn’t difficult at all, one could say... that the other side was blatantly wandering outside, looking totally unafraid of you not taking the bait.

”This really is quite a blatant hook and salty bait.”

Looking at the forthright appearance of the target emerging on the screen, Fang Zheng also let out a helpless sigh. He didn’t know where this group of Sea Mist’s confidence came from, so certain they could devour his own forces. But considering the amount of time that had elapsed, the enemy must have some understanding of his fleet. Under these circumstances, their decision to take the initiative to strike meant there definitely was a problem.

However... the matter of Grand Duke Jiang fishing was always about the willing taking the bait.

”Vampire, any discoveries?”

”No discoveries, Commander, the surrounding maritime area is normal.”

Upon hearing Fang Zheng’s inquiry, Vampire the petite girl unusually gave a swift reply this time, which somewhat surprised Fang Zheng. Normally, the little one would take the opportunity to tease him a bit. What was the situation today? Could it be she was feeling tense too?

”Nymph?”

”No discoveries at the current stage.”

Little Angel also shook her head.

”Alright...”

Hearing the responses from Vampire and Nymph, Fang Zheng stretched out his hand to tap the table, then narrowed his eyes in thought. According to what Takao had said, the Sea Mist fleet wasn’t particularly adept at utilizing schemes, and the conspiracy undertones of this patrolling fleet were too strong, looking all too eager for a confrontation. Hmm... that meant the Sea Mist side definitely had traps laid out, but they remained unconfirmed for now.

But if neither Vampire nor Nymph could detect the enemy within their search range, and if the enemy was hiding too far away, weren’t they afraid they wouldn’t make it to the battlefield in time? Or could it be...

”Rodney, how are things?”

”Already in position, Commander.”

Suddenly, Rodney’s gentle voice came through to Fang Zheng’s ear, as calm as if she were having tea in a serene afternoon garden, regardless of the impending battle.

”Fortress Mode can be deployed at any moment.”

”Good.”

After hearing Rodney’s response, Fang Zheng nodded, and he promptly issued orders.

”Takao, prepare to sortie! Follow our usual tactics!”

”Alright.”

Although Takao was quite dissatisfied with Fang Zheng’s command, as a Mind Model, she obviously knew what she should do. So Takao reluctantly responded and then maneuvered her warship towards the distant Sea Mist fleet.

”Lock on the target, begin the attack!”

Following Takao’s order, soon a barrage of missiles erupted, bombarding the distant Warships of Sea Mist.

”Boom boom boom boom boom!!”

Hundreds of missiles descended from the sky, swiftly shrouding the entire Sea Mist fleet, but as the dark red Klein Field activated, those furious impacts and explosions were all isolated outside. Meanwhile, Ashigara and Nachi quickly led the other Light Cruisers to mount an attack on Takao.

”Iona, prepare to cloak and enter the fray, Vampire, as usual, provide cover on the side.”

”Master, is this really alright?”

Upon hearing this, Iona, who was sitting next to Fang Zheng, also asked with some concern. This was the tactic Fang Zheng and his forces had always used: Takao drawing aggro as the MT, Iona cloaking and entering the fray, following which Nymph would launch the Hacker Realm to infiltrate, and Vampire standing by ready to follow up with strikes and add DEBUFFs.

Originally, since Rodney had joined, everyone thought there might be new tactics, but unexpectedly, Fang Zheng still adhered to this set.

”It’s fine this way for now.”

In response to Iona’s question, Fang Zheng shook his head. Iona didn’t say anything more, just leaning slightly forward.

”Entering the fray, cloaked.”

Under the cover of Takao’s artillery fire, Iona swiftly maneuvered past the Warship of Sea Mist’s gunfire and then positioned herself in her usual spot, capable of covering all of the Sea Mist Fleet, while Nymph quickly expanded her Hacker Realm. Soon after, the Light Cruisers were rapidly invaded, their weapons going offline. Meanwhile, Ashigara and Nachi began to resist desperately, unwilling to surrender without a fight.

”Vampire, come over and give them a DEBUFF... Watch your surroundings,” Fang Zheng instructed.

”Roger, Commander.”

Upon hearing Fang Zheng’s command, Vampire hurried to the battlefield from a distance, a task she carried out each time. As long as she could drain the energy of those two Heavy Cruisers, they would be able to do as they pleased.

Let the Commander witness my skills this time!

With this thought in mind, Vampire rushed to the battlefield at top speed and targeted the two Heavy Cruisers without hesitation. Soon, two bright red Light Beams shot out from her, connecting her to the two Heavy Cruisers. Perhaps sensing their power waning, the Heavy Cruisers quickly turned to counterattack Vampire. Even so, their attacks grew weaker, a clear sign to Vampire that their energy was being drained.

”Hmph, do these Heavy Cruisers really think they can defeat me? Such foolish...”

Just as Vampire was about to say something, Nymph’s warning abruptly rang in her ears.

”There’s a high-energy reaction from below the sea! Evade immediately!”

”What?”

Vampire was taken aback, but before she could respond, a deep purple Light Beam suddenly burst from beneath her, striking her hull unerringly!

”Doo— Doo—”

At that moment, alarms blared, and Vampire’s face turned pale. freёNovelFire.com

”Klein Field entering critical state! Is this... a main cannon-level attack? How is that possible?”

Before Vampire could say more, another Light Beam shot up from the seabed, grazing her and hitting Iona’s hull. Maybe it was because of the attack, but Nymph’s Hacker Realm disappeared at that moment, and Iona immediately began to Acceleration, preparing to retreat. Fang Zheng’s voice also sounded at this time.

”Immediate withdrawal! Vampire, Takao, Iona, everyone withdraw southeast!”

As the Hacker Realm dissipated, the Light Cruisers, which had been forced offline by Nymph’s hacking, came back online and began bombarding Fang Zheng and his group. Amidst countless missiles and artillery barrages, Iona, Vampire, and Takao frantically fled in disarray.

However, at that moment, three massive shadows suddenly surfaced from the sea.

”Don’t think you can escape. This time, we’ll defeat you!”

”Habakuro, Myoko, Hiei!”

Seeing the three warships rising from the sea, Takao was shocked.

”So you did come!”

”That’s right, today is your doom. Prepare for Death’s Embrace!”

With glasses on and standing at the bow, Hiei swept a cold glance over the warships in the air, then with a fierce wave of her hand, the three Warships opened fire. Scores of missiles screamed into the sky, along with anti-aircraft guns aiming at the aerial targets. Numerous cluster warheads exploded overhead, forming a blockade line and stopping their attempts to ascend and escape.

”5 o’clock direction, 10 Nagara-class Light Cruisers approaching!”

Nymph’s warning resounded once again, and this time, they were nearly sandwiched by the Sea Mist from both sides!

”Damn it, how did it come to this?”

Vampire struggled to maintain her Klein Field while rapidly retreating. The situation for Iona and Takao was also grim, but Fang Zheng’s expression remained remarkably calm. Facing this tense battle situation, he did not panic like the others but quietly watched a target in the distance.

”I never thought that Battleships would be capable of diving these days. What’s the use of submarines then?”

While shaking his head in resignation and sighing, Fang Zheng issued an order.

”Rodney, activate Fortress Mode.”

Then, he gave the command.
