Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 447: Chapter 446 Reactions from All Sides (Part 2)

```
”How interesting...”
Watching the projection mirror image before him, the White-Robed Mage stroked his chin and revealed a sinister smile. A woman clad in a red wizard robe rolled her eyes helplessly at his side.
”Douglas, you have watched this clip ten times, aren’t you tired of it?”
”Of course, my dear Mary.”
In response to his colleague’s question, Douglas lifted his head with a smile and once again channeled magic power into the crystal ball in his hands.
”You must realize, this is a rare opportunity to see those barbarians from Fanriel embarrass themselves in front of a crowd. I think I could take it back as a family heirloom. Happy or not, I’ll pull it out for a look. No no no, as the saying goes, shared joy is double joy. Perhaps I should hand this footage over to the White Tower’s academic institutions...”
”They only publish inventions and formulas related to magic. Under what pretext would you release this?”
”Hmm...”
Hearing this, Douglas pondered for a moment, then extended his hand and uttered a spell text. Soon, the projected image from the crystal began to transform, and a small ”DG” logo appeared in the upper right corner of the image, flickering as if it were flames dancing.
”How about ’Douglas’s Improvements to Projection Effects’ as the topic for publication?”
”.........As long as you’re happy.”
Faced with Douglas’s shameless behavior, Mary had nothing left to say. She could foresee that the clip would spread rapidly throughout the Magitech Nation. Of course, by all accounts, such a clip shouldn’t meet the standard. But mages of the Magitech Nation were not nerds preoccupied only with their books—they knew their own means of amusement.
While contemplating whether she should also make a copy to take back, Mary sat down next to Douglas and fixed her gaze once more on the projection before them.
”Still... it’s hard to believe...”
”Yes, a group of children under the age of ten possessing such power.”
Douglas also sighed deeply, then narrowed his eyes and looked at the female mage beside him with interest.
”By the way, Mary, who do you think is the strongest among these children?”
”Isn’t it that girl with the twin tails?”
Upon Douglas’s inquiry, Mary was taken aback for a moment before she provided an answer.
”Since she dared to confront Alfred alone, she must be the strongest one here.”
”My foolish student...”
However, Douglas shook his head in response to Mary’s answer.
”As a mage, you are far from perceptive. I truly worry about whether you can inherit my knowledge...”
”I became your student only because the other instructors were too busy. Honestly, it was the worst choice.”
Mary looked at Douglas indifferently, her expression lacking any respect that one might show towards a mentor.
”If you didn’t use Magic Eye to peek at girls bathing and changing, and consistently sent familiars to steal my underwear, perhaps I might have some respect for you, teacher. But now... unless you shoo away the familiar hiding under the chair, I can’t guarantee what I’ll do to it.”
”Uh......”
Upon hearing this, Douglas’s smile stiffened for a moment, then he whistled. Almost immediately, a hamster scurried out from under Mary’s chair, looked at her fearfully, squeaked twice, and then quickly climbed up along Douglas’s long robe to his hand.
”Ah, my poor Selena...”
Softly stroking the hamster, Douglas heaved a sigh.
”Sorry, I had no idea you ran off there... I’ve been looking for you for so long...”
”Please stop the act!”
”Cough, cough, alright then.”
Perhaps to cover up the embarrassment of using his familiar to spy on his students, Douglas coughed a few times. He then rewound the projection and paused it, then pointed at one of the girls.
”See her?”
”Are you referring to that blonde girl?”
Upon hearing this, Mary also squinted and observed the girl carefully, then shook her head.
”I don’t see anything special about her.”
”That’s why I say you’re not mature enough as a mage.”
Douglas swayed his finger lightly in the air.
```

”As a mage, you should never give up observing your surroundings... Didn’t you notice? When that child and Alfred began to fight, the blonde girl stood in front of the others, and they did not resist at all. Moreover... at that time I felt a very mysterious and powerful force protecting these children, and the source was...”

As he spoke, Douglas pointed towards the image in front of him.

”That’s not strange, is it?”

Mary didn’t seem particularly concerned about this. After all, as a mage, she had seen all sorts of odd things, so it wouldn’t make sense for her to make a fuss over such a small matter.

”If her body contained some kind of bloodline, then it would be normal for her to awaken some special abilities, wouldn’t it?”

”What if I told you that all these children possess this power, only in varying degrees of strength?”

”Ai?”

At this point, Mary finally showed a look of surprise.

”Really?”

”That’s right. It was only after I felt the energy field released by that girl that I became curious enough to probe, and hmm... the results were quite intriguing. The energy feedback showed that those girls all had an above-average level of energy intensity, although it seems they usually do not use this power. Just like us mages, they simply store this power in their bodies, waiting for the necessary moment to...”

As he said this, Douglas opened his right hand and made an explosive gesture.

”You see, it’s rather interesting, isn’t it? Not only that, but I also felt that these energy fields are interconnected... They are very similar to the Heart Snatcher’s psychic network, but I’ve never seen such a system before...”

”Snooping on others’ secrets is never a good habit, teacher. When will you be able to get rid of this habit?”

”It’s a common flaw among mages.”

Douglas showed no sign of repentance for his actions.

”Our lifelong wish as mages is to lift the skirt of the Goddess of Truth and peep at the truth and secrets hidden beneath. So you see, Mary, the Goddess of Truth is so charming that we even resort to such means...”

”If the Speaker of Parliament heard that comment, I think you’d be hung out to dry at the top of the White Tower upon your return.”

”Heh, he doesn’t have the guts. Otherwise, I would bring up his dark history from the past, and it wouldn’t be a bad thing to enjoy the view from the White Tower with someone by my side.”

”I am very curious about what that dark history is, but I think I’m better off not knowing... So, teacher, what do you plan to do?”

Mary decisively gave up on this seemingly perilous topic and returned to the matter at hand.

”Do we need to make contact with this newly emerged power?”

”Of course, Mary. Do you think we could pass up such an opportunity?”

At this, Douglas suddenly became excited, stood up, walked over to the window, and pointed outside at the huge warship.

”Look at that! That is our target! Perfect, ingenious, the ultimate in imagination and creativity! Isn’t this precisely the future that our Magitech Nation hopes for? Faced with such a miracle, how could we possibly pass it by? We need to learn; we want to obtain these technologies!”

Saying this, Douglas took a deep breath, forcing himself to calm down.

”Fortunately... the one leading the team does have some connections with the White Tower... That’s right, Mary.”

”Hmm? What is it?”

Mary immediately became alert when Douglas called her name, and Douglas approached her with a smile.

”You’ve always complained that I’m not a good teacher, right? Well, I can introduce you to a new teacher... His Excellency Fang Zheng. He just passed the assessment last month and became an Official Mage of the White Tower. I think with your charm, he certainly won’t refuse some minor, reasonable requests... Pfft!” frёeωebɳovel.com

But before Douglas could finish speaking, he saw Mary suddenly leap up, followed by a beautiful right hook that hit him in the face.

”You want me to sell my charms?!”

”A mage can sell their soul for knowledge!”

While rubbing his cheek, Douglas looked back at his student.

”Besides, His Excellency is handsome and young... Aren’t you tempted? If not, then I’ll just have to ask Mystra to go...”

”Wait a second.”

At this, Mary raised her eyebrows.

”Why does her name come up here?”

”Because the Sanctuary also wants to build a relationship with him, and if you want to build a relationship, it’s better to use someone familiar, right?”

As he spoke, Douglas looked at Mary with a smile.

”What do you think? Your sister is very eager to meet with His Excellency Fang Zheng, isn’t she?”
