System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

After hanging up the phone with Xie Yuan’an, Lu Cheng turned to look at Mu Nanshu: ”Xiao Shu, I might have accidentally gotten into some trouble.”

Mu Nanshu widened her eyes slightly: ”It’s unavoidable if you get into trouble, unless you identify it from the start. Otherwise, this kind of sticky situation is definitely impossible to shake off.”

”Cross-province networking?” Mu Nanshu lifted her chin slightly and sighed softly.

She had never heard of such a thing, yet Xie Yuan’an had just announced it so smoothly.

Ultimately, Lu Cheng’s encounter during the re-examination was nothing more than Huashan Hospital’s cross-department resource exchange, which completely bewildered the two, leaving them helpless.

Nowadays, the two of them still seem to lack a good coping strategy.

”Professor Lan Hualuo… Professor Lan Hualuo.” Lu Cheng mumbled several times.

Mu Nanshu said, ”Aren’t you acquainted with Professor Lan Hualuo? Why don’t you ask him?”

Lu Cheng said, ”When I knew Professor Lan Hualuo, he was the chief resident. Now, he’s a big professor.”

”Besides, last time I turned him down, it caused quite a bit of trouble for Professor Lan.”

After Lu Cheng finished speaking, he suddenly smiled shallowly at Mu Nanshu: ”Xiao Shu, you need to help with this matter.”

Mu Nanshu sat beside Lu Cheng, allowing him to embrace her: ”How can I help?”

”Just like how you came to Long County to find me, you can help gather information for me, right? My wife’s networking is extensive, and every matchmaking event is arranged tightly.” Lu Cheng’s thought process is very agile.

Although Lu Cheng did his residency at Zhongnan Hospital, residency training is less valuable than a dog’s life, and there’s hardly any networking.

Nonetheless, since Mu Nanshu was able to find Professor Lan Hualuo’s former research assistant Han Jingyi in the past, she surely has a way to inquire about other related information from Han Jingyi.

This issue has been lingering for over six months, and Mu Nanshu almost forgot about this person.

She hurriedly got up to grab her phone, then found Han Jingyi’s name through a name search.

”She’s from E Province Feng County. After this help, we’ll have to find an opportunity to invite her for a meal.” Mu Nanshu said.

On the second day of the Chinese New Year, Han Jingyi wasn’t working clinically; she was on vacation back home, so she promptly replied saying she was available.

Mu Nanshu then made a call: ”Jingyi, Happy New Year, it’s been a while since we last contacted.”

”Sister Mu, Happy New Year. I didn’t dare to disturb you, you know.”

”Are you still in Long County or have you returned to Han City?” Han Jingyi replied more proactively, hoping to invite Mu Nanshu together but wasn’t sure if she did it intentionally.

”I’m now in Ji City, and I’ll be here for an extended period, as I’ve suspended my work.” Mu Nanshu said.

Han Jingyi was surprised for a moment: ”Sister Mu, you suspended your work?”

”Didn’t you know? Professor Lan didn’t mention this to you?” Mu Nanshu replied.

Xie Yuan’an just mentioned over the phone that Dai Linfang said Professor Lan Hualuo asked him to join Lu Cheng’s research group.

”Sister Mu, you really don’t pay attention to me. I’m no longer the full-time research assistant for Teacher Lan; I started my master’s in September.”

”I’m studying anesthesiology too. But where I’m studying for my master’s, we have more holidays and weekends.” Han Jingyi replied.

”Oh, congratulations.” Mu Nanshu politely said, then asked, ”Han Jingyi, I’m looking for someone, do you know Dai Linfang?”

Han Jingyi’s phone made a ding or two, followed by a short walk: ”Sister Mu, who did you mention?”

”Dai Linfang.” Mu Nanshu repeated.

”This character, anyone in our research group wouldn’t know? Joined the group for six months and presented eighteen research plans to Professor Lan, all rejected.”

”Then he just gave up, didn’t do anything. Early last year, he was sent off by Professor Lan.”

”I’m not sure where he went temporarily. Sister Mu, why are you asking about him?” Han Jingyi asked.

Mu Nanshu and Lu Cheng shared a look, Mu Nanshu then asked, ”Gave up? What does that mean?”

”He said he was out of sync with Professor Lan’s ideologies, just acting all superior.”

”His individual abilities are exceptional; within the research group, only Professor Lan can surpass him a bit. Even Dr. Hu, Professor Lan’s student, can’t suppress him. Apart from not taking instructions, there seem to be no other issues.”

”Just doesn’t listen.” Han Jingyi concluded, then added:

”Sister Mu, you’re not planning to cooperate with him, are you? I advise you against entertaining such thoughts and ideas, because if your ideas don’t align with his, he’ll find all kinds of fault.”

”Moreover, time and again, he’ll recommend his concepts and suggestions without getting angry, just constantly bothering you until he completely gives up!”

Mu Nanshu specifically asked: ”Does he lose his temper with Professor Lan too?”

”Complains the projects are too small and doesn’t want to exert effort. If he were to work, he’d have to pursue his own agenda.”

”For instance, in his second month here, our research group wanted him to learn animal models, and he went ahead to optimize the creation scheme of animal models and even prepared a separate bid proposal, which was dismissed by Professor Lan.” Han Jingyi said.

”What about other temperament issues? Any conflicts with your research group members?” Mu Nanshu asked.

”Quite a lot. Lost count.

”But there are two positive points: he doesn’t hold grudges, it’s over after vocal disputes.”

”Secondly, apart from Professor Lan, very few individuals surpass him in single operational skill, and those who do, he listens to.”

Han Jingyi continued: ”Sister Mu, such research partners, better not engage.”
