System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

”I just demonstrated the exercises you need to watch out for and avoid.”

”If there are no other questions, you can go now.”

Lin Daomeng felt relieved and quickly approached Lu Cheng: ”Dr. Lu, can I add you on WeChat?”

Han Pingxiao knew this would definitely happen, but there wasn’t anything he could say; few people in a city-level hospital have that kind of celebrity and expert effect.

Lu Cheng refused: ”We don’t add patients on WeChat, it’s against the rules.”

”Dr. Lu, please do me a favor. I may still have some questions to consult you about.”

”How is adding WeChat against the rules? I’ve seen many doctors do it,” Lin Daomeng said with a smile.

”This is the leadership’s rule, I don’t understand it either, so I just have to comply. So, for sure, I can’t add on WeChat.”

”Dr. Han has already explained everything thoroughly, just follow the doctor’s orders and there will be no problem.”

”Go home, I wish you a lively New Year...” Lu Cheng stood up to send the patient off.

After the patient couple left, Han Pingxiao stood up and said: ”Brother Lu, sorry, I initially asked you to come to chat for a while and even made you work overtime.”

”I’ll transfer you the overtime pay later.”

”Alright, Brother Han. It’s settled then, if we have dinner together later tonight, I’ll cover it.” Lu Cheng started climbing up the staircase.

Han Pingxiao was momentarily speechless, and immediately said: ”Brother Lu, you’re not treating me like a human being.”

”As the saying goes, ’Clear accounts between brothers,’ Brother Han, why don’t we calculate the money for this coffee first?”

After Lu Cheng spoke, he saw Han Pingxiao’s expression change slightly, and added: ”But I prefer to play rogue, let’s not calculate.”

Han Pingxiao was on duty at the orthopedics department, but it wasn’t an ordinary shift in the ward; it was an ”emergency shift!”

According to Han Pingxiao, the orthopedics emergency shift is essentially just a time-off; there’s basically no emergency for joints.

This includes today’s case of Lin Daomeng, who experienced something similar. The first choice is to go to the Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital.

However, Lin Daomeng couldn’t resolve the issue over there, so he thought of coming over to solve it.

Therefore, Han Pingxiao doesn’t need to return, and Deng Duanniu was jealous: ”Orthopedics really is an aristocratic department, typical of little work and more money.”

”It’s a pity none of us have that fortune...”

Just as Deng Duanniu spoke, a nurse’s shout came from the emergency surgery consultation room: ”Dr. Deng, an emergency case came in, they’re asking you to go to the debridement room for debridement.”

Deng Duanniu turned his hand: ”Alright, I’m off to move bricks.”

Debridement and stitching are one of the few ’brick-moving achievements’ left for emergency surgery doctors by the hospital. Although the pay per case isn’t much, it can make performance look less meager by winning on quantity.

Han Pingxiao and Lu Cheng entered the doctor’s lounge, ”taking over the magpie’s nest.”

After entering, Han Pingxiao sighed: ”Brother Lu, you’re still incredible, you passed the selection exam on your first try.”

Lu Cheng replied with a smile: ”Brother Han, I was just lucky.”

Han Pingxiao said: ”Luck is needed, I have a friend, he took the selection exam three times and didn’t succeed. He had high hopes for the third time, but encountered a psycho.”

”I heard they scored first in the surgical group’s written test and still chose the emergency department, don’t you think they’re out of their mind...”

Han Pingxiao paused in his speech, looking at Lu Cheng with slightly open mouth: ”Alright, Brother Lu, it seems the psycho my friend talked about is actually you.”

Lu Cheng directly replied: ”When I was in the county, I wasn’t too happy in orthopedics. So I chose the emergency department.”

Han Pingxiao seemed not to hear Lu Cheng’s words, his face filled with hesitation.

He even scratched his head, his expression conflicted for a while before he finally said: ”Brother Lu, I might need your help with something.”

”Go ahead,” Lu Cheng responded naturally, sitting opposite Han Pingxiao.

”Brother Lu, my friend is named Tian Chusheng, he?”

”During the selection exam, he took a wrong turn, and the backlash was quite severe.”

Han Pingxiao said: ”Just let me say it directly, he wanted to report you and submitted some evidence he got from who knows where. Now he’s uncomfortable staying at his original unit.”

”Brother Lu, could you show some leniency and give him a break?”

Lu Cheng’s gaze flickered, his tone calm: ”I didn’t even know about these things? I haven’t done anything.”

Han Pingxiao awkwardly smiled for a while but ultimately didn’t have the courage to persuade Lu Cheng to make the unreasonable call to Tian Chusheng’s unit advising leniency: ”Forget it, he made those shady moves, and can only bear the consequences himself.”

”Brother Lu, just pretend I didn’t say anything just now.”

”I have a good relationship with him, but I didn’t expect the person he unreasonably reported would be you. Had I known earlier, I’d have certainly scolded him a few times.”

If the reported materials are invalid, responsibility must be borne.

Lu Cheng truly didn’t know the details about this incident, but during the reexamination of the selection exam, his two competing brothers gave up and didn’t show up.

Lu Cheng only knew one person gave up voluntarily and heard the other was forced to.

It was unexpected how small the world is, going in circles and ending up back with Han Pingxiao, Lu Cheng’s tone was stern: ”Brother Han, in matters like these once you choose, there’s no turning back.”

”If the report was valid, I’d be the one acted upon.”

”So even if I had the ability to deal with his problem, it wouldn’t be possible for me to help.”

”The essence of the selection exam indeed depends on personal skills, but encountering troubles during the process, one must be responsible for handling them.”

Han Pingxiao said: ”Mainly, Tian Chusheng’s girlfriend said if he can’t make it to Ji City this year, they will break up. So he went to extremes.”

Lu Cheng replied: ”That’s not a valid reason for targeting me, he and I are competitors, each with our own ideas and beliefs.”

Han Pingxiao said: ”Yes, yes, Brother Lu, you don’t need to understand this. I was just casually mentioning it, I’m sorry, I misspoke.”

Truthfully, Han Pingxiao knew more of the ’truth’!

According to Tian Chusheng, the reason he’s facing hardship is that Lu Cheng made great achievements in the State, his personal ability is very strong, and someone wants to support him fiercely.

And in the process of supporting him, all unfavorable factors including the ’report’ in the selection exam must be thoroughly investigated.

Anyway, the background of the reporter isn’t deep, and it’s a malicious accusation under real name, getting caught means he’s skinned off layer by layer?

Luckily, it didn’t cause a huge public opinion uproar; otherwise, his establishment might be revoked, leaving him with a stigma.

Real-name reporting is serious.

Han Pingxiao had arranged to have dinner with Lu Cheng, but he had some other business, so he left the emergency department first.

Gazing at Han Pingxiao’s back, Lu Cheng could roughly guess he went to contact friends.

Nevertheless, Lu Cheng didn’t care; contacting friends is only natural!

Before Lu Cheng could think further, the loud conversation of Director Xiao Zhaoxi and Deputy Dean Yao Xin walking into the emergency department doctor’s lounge pierced into Lu Cheng’s ears.

”Director Xiao, you have to give me an explanation, right?”

”Our department can’t even manage to get a consultation, how should this be handled? Hmm?”

”Doesn’t this affect the development of the Hepatobiliary Surgery, impacting the health rights of millions of Xiangzhou citizens?” Yao Xin always goes straight to the flattery.

Director Xiao Zhaoxi pushed open the doctor’s office door and said: ”Why are you telling me? Dean Yao, you couldn’t invite anyone yourself.”

”They’re also afraid of making fools of themselves in front of Xiao Lu, aren’t they.”

”Oh, Xiao Lu?” Director Xiao Zhaoxi stopped halfway, having seen Lu Cheng.

”Aren’t you supposed to be on duty tonight?” Director Xiao Zhaoxi intended to leave but had no time.

Once Yao Xin saw Lu Cheng, he immediately pushed the door open, striding into the room while grabbing Lu Cheng: ”Perfect timing, meeting the main character!”

”Director Xiao, let’s discuss this properly in your office?”

”This responsibility, whether Lu Cheng carries it or not, is on him.”

”The people weren’t scared by me; grievances have their origin and debts their owner. How will our department handle those few patients? We need an explanation today.” Yao Xin’s grip on Lu Cheng’s elbow wasn’t strong, but his voice was stern and severe, as if he were about to eat Lu Cheng alive.

He’s quite the sly old fox.
