System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

”What’s going on in the group?” Chen Song’s tone was particularly puzzled.

”Who is this Dai Linfang?”

Lu Cheng said, ”I don’t know either, Teacher Chen. I just checked and couldn’t figure it out.”

”How did you come across this person?” Chen Song’s tone became difficult and shocked.

How could someone who talks about eight million in funding suddenly find Lu Cheng?

”To be honest, Teacher Chen, he came to find me himself. There’s a bit of a dark twist to this.”

”Originally, some other people from Xiangzhou wanted to use his connections to persuade you and Professor Tong Yuan’an to bring someone else into the group.”

”But Dai Linfang went ahead and took matters into his own hands and brought himself in.”

”A friend of mine said that if it weren’t for someone using his connections, he wouldn’t have discovered our research group at all.”

”Then this big shot came to me; I lack experience. When I heard he had a doctoral degree and was quite sincere, I agreed.”

”Great, we’ve brought a deity in.”

”Teacher Chen, what do we do now?” Lu Cheng humbly asked for guidance.

”It’s probably easier to invite the deity than to send them away.”

Chen Song continued asking, ”What achievements has he had previously?”

Lu Cheng said, ”Same as me, no achievements. His doctoral thesis was watered down. And he extended his studies.”

Chen Song’s voice was trembling, ”You sure know how to pick people—pulling in such talents.”

”I don’t know what to do anymore.”

No previous experience, no papers, a complete blank slate.

Lu Cheng said, ”Teacher Chen, but one thing is, Dai Linfang’s personal practical ability and learning ability are genuinely remarkable.”

”According to him, he previously wasted a lot of funding, so there were no results.”

As Lu Cheng spoke, Chen Song suddenly said, ”Dang? How did you come across him?”

”Do you know him?” Lu Cheng asked back.

Dai Linfang is a doctoral candidate in Xiangya Hospital, and it’s common for Chen Song to have heard of such a big incident during his doctoral studies.

”I’ve heard rumors, but there’s little information, and many matters have been suppressed.”

”Just know he has big ambitions but lacks realistic actions.”

”But haven’t I heard he went to work in another province? Why is he now at State People’s Hospital?” Chen Song became suspicious.

”Went to another province to work? Teacher Chen?”

”Dai Linfang says he’s working in the oncology department of our hospital, right?” Lu Cheng said.

Chen Song’s tone was firm, ”That’s impossible, even if he went to the wrong place, he wouldn’t end up at State People’s Hospital.”

”Unless he has other intentions! You need to question this thoroughly.”

With Chen Song saying this, Lu Cheng didn’t pursue questioning further and only felt that Dai Linfang seemed mysterious all over.

...

If there are mysteries, they can actually be solved.

After hanging up with Professor Chen Song, Lu Cheng called Mu Nanshu to have Xie Yuan’an send a New Year’s greeting.

Xie Yuan’an had returned home and was eating skewers in Rongcheng. Mu Nanshu immediately became interested and asked which skewers were tasty, saying he would try them next time in Rongcheng.

Xie Yuan’an also recommended some other things to Mu Nanshu.

After over a dozen minutes, the topic returned, ”Sister Xie, do you know Dai Linfang?”

Xie Yuan’an replied, ”Yes, but the previous understanding was all misunderstandings, gossip.”

”I really saw his cousin before the New Year, and she’s definitely the one in the photos. Indeed, it’s just rumors online.”

Mu Nanshu said, ”Didn’t you see the messages in the group?”

”I saw them, but Brother Zhang Xibei wanted Lu Cheng to make a choice. I was hanging out with friends, didn’t think much of it.” Xie Yuan’an replied carelessly.

There are two groups in the research group, a large one including Chen Song and Tong Yuan’an, and two professors’ students.

Another small group, just young members like Lu Cheng, Zhang Xibei, Xie Yuan’an, plus Professor Chen Song.

The information Dai Linfang sent was in another small group.

”Just now, Professor Chen Song saw the info and called us, saying that Dai Linfang originally went to work in another province.”

”But he came to State People’s Hospital, and I thought, Sister Xie, since you know him, do you know where his workplace is?”

”I feel he’s full of lies too.” Mu Nanshu said.

Upon hearing this, Xie Yuan’an seemed surprised, ”There’s such a thing? I’ll call and ask him.”

As soon as she finished speaking, she hung up.

Mu Nanshu could only say one word.

Lu Cheng stared wide-eyed, ”We asked Xie Yuan’an to probe Dai Linfang? If Professor Xie finds out, will he scold us?”

”Scold for what? He’s in Xiang Province, and Professor Xie is in E Province. Basically, not related at all...,” Mu Nanshu said.

Mu Nanshu said this and then got up to peel an apple.

Meanwhile, Lu Cheng seriously checked his duty schedule; February 27th is the eighteenth day of the Chinese New Year, and on the 26th, Lu Cheng has an overnight shift, while on the 27th, he has a shift change for 24 hours.

He needs to find someone to take care of it.

While checking the duty, Mu Nanshu returned, and on the phone, Xie Yuan’an’s voice shivered, ”It’s over, Xiao Mumu.”

”What’s up?” Lu Cheng asked.

Mu Nanshu pointed at the phone, meaning let Xie Yuan’an say it herself, and Xie Yuan’an said, ”These people’s strategies are deep; it’s a triangular relationship.”

”Didn’t they previously exchange ’hostages’ between power and tobacco departments? What they’re doing is cross-province exchange of ’hostages.’”

Lu Cheng’s expression turned serious, ”Sister Xie, why not explain more clearly?”

”It’s about moving across systems with equivalent relations. Dai Linfang told me his family isn’t from Xiang Province nor E Province but from Su Province, but he’s familiar with lots of people in Xiang and E Provinces.”

”His current classification is in Han City; he came to State People’s Hospital to collect project data.”

”His father is.”

When Lu Cheng heard the complicated relationships, he quickly interrupted, ”Sister Xie, that’s enough, no need to say more. I don’t care who his father is.”

”Where is his classification in Han City?”

”Zhongnan Hospital! He said he’s a full-time researcher in Professor Lan Hualuo’s project group.”

”Delegated by the project group to State People’s Hospital’s oncology department to collect basic data for subsequent projects.”

Xie Yuan’an said this and continued, ”But Dai Linfang also said that he and the project group are currently at odds, being in a kind of exiled state, considered ninety percent free.”

”Able to advance, able to retreat.”

”And there’s another thing.”

”No, there are two.” Xie Yuan’an hesitated.

When Mu Nanshu heard these things, she sensed something off in them, ”What’s the matter? Sister Xie, tell us.”

Xie Yuan’an said, ”First, Dai Linfang said Professor Lan Hualuo is watching our project group closely, hoping to find an opportunity to intervene to get the same start as Union Hospital.”

”Second thing, the ideas my dad talked to us about previously, some were heard from Dai Linfang...”

”Dai Linfang even said that he and I have met before, and I’ve introduced him to my dad, but I’ve completely forgotten this incident.”

”Forgotten about this person too.” Xie Yuan’an’s tone was a little puzzled.

Lu Cheng thought for a moment and asked, ”Did Professor Xie and Dai Linfang meet before? Why didn’t he cooperate with Dai Linfang back then?”

Xie Yuan’an directly asked, ”Old man, Lu Cheng is asking why you didn’t collaborate with Dai Linfang before.”

Lu Cheng and Mu Nanshu covered their faces directly.

Professor Xie Xiao didn’t pretend to be dead anymore, ”Didn’t it seem unreliable before? Organ function reconstruction, already sounds elusive, with no foundational research.”

”I’ve met him a few years ago, initially during a meeting with you guys wanting to borrow his ideas in the first place. Didn’t expect you met the real deal the next day.”

”The world is indeed small.”

”Of course, this Xiao Dai is truly stubborn; he never listened to advice and clearly paid the price he had to pay.”

After saying this, Xie Xiao cautiously added, ”But currently, he does indeed have the credentials for his stubbornness.”

”Such a person, as long as he succeeds once, can ride smoothly along with success.”
