Super Gene Hunting Ground

Chapter 36: Chapter 36: Rushing Out of the Playground

After this battle, both Xu Hua and Xiao Zhe let go of the grudges they held against Yang Xiao, realizing the importance of unity. In this post-apocalyptic world, who knows what dangers the next second might bring? Yang Xiao’s team now has over a dozen mutants, which is the highest number of mutants in any group aside from Xiao Zhe’s team. In the future, they might need Yang Xiao and his team’s help to deal with a crisis, just like with this wasp hunt.

”Hehe, you guys are loaded, we can’t compare with you all. Chen Fei, you take ten girls and follow them to pick up the roasted wasps.”

Chen Fei immediately called over a dozen girls and started picking up wasp corpses from the ground.

After thinking for a while, Yang Xiao added:

”Pick up half, leave half. Let’s leave some food for others.”

Xiao Zhe and Xu Hua looked at Yang Xiao and commented:

”Yang Xiao, you really are righteous.”

”It’s not about being righteous. We’re in the post-apocalyptical era and there aren’t many of us humans left. If we keep killing each other, humanity will become extinct. In the future, once you’ve grown stronger, and if you have excess mutated creatures from hunting that you can’t finish eating, you might as well share it with others - consider it a good deed.”

Xiao Zhe and the others nodded in agreement with Yang Xiao’s point of view.

Ten minutes later, Huang Wen and the others gathered the Genetic Fragments together, totaling 52. They were split evenly, with each side getting 26.

Xiao Zhe, who had borrowed 5 Crystal Coins from Yang Xiao yesterday to buy Armor for Xu Hua, returned them.

Dai Yun and Yang Xiao, who participated in the perilous task of igniting the fire, each received 5 Crystal Coins. The remaining 16 Crystal Coins were divided among Chen Fei, Chen Lu, and Feifei, who had helped carry the gasoline tanks the night before, each receiving 2 Crystal Coins. The remaining 10 Crystal Coins were distributed by Yang Xiao to those who had helped collect the wasp corpses and Crystal Coins at the scene, one per person.

Yang Xiao always insisted that within a team, the capable must work harder and reap greater rewards to incentivize everyone to do their best.

Xu Hua, who had taken part in the most dangerous task of luring the wasps during the hunt, received a piece of Armor and was delighted.

With the wasp crisis resolved, everyone was overjoyed. Many came out, ready to hunt weaker mutated creatures to fill their stomachs and accelerate their mutation process.

The wasp corpses that Chen Fei and the others had deliberately left on the runway were quickly picked up by the crowd of over a hundred people. Some were so hungry they immediately stuffed the charred wasp corpses into their mouths.

Yang Xiao had Chen Fei, Chen Lu, Dai Yun, and Feifei each eat a few roasted wasp corpses.

”Quickly eat up, rest for a moment, and we’ll set off immediately. There’s an urgent mission.”

Chen Fei and the others looked at Yang Xiao in confusion.

”Boss, what’s so urgent?”

Yang Xiao glanced around and lowered his voice to say:

”Didn’t you notice something’s missing?”

Chen Fei and the others became even more puzzled.

What’s missing?

”Blockheads, isn’t there supposed to be a Bee Queen in a wasp nest?”

Ah!

Chen Fei and the others immediately opened their mouths in surprise and pressed for answers from Yang Xiao.

Yang Xiao made a ”shushing” motion and whispered:

”Most of the wasps have been burnt to death by us. If we can find the Bee Queen now, we should have the strength to kill it. Since it’s a Bee Queen, the Genetic Fragments it drops should be somewhat special, right? And what about the ants from yesterday? We killed most of them, but where is the Empress? We didn’t see her either.”

After Yang Xiao’s reminder, Feifei and the others couldn’t help but get excited. They quickly ate a few roasted wasps, and once the electric current in their bodies subsided, Yang Xiao took the four girls out again.

Before departing, Yang Xiao borrowed 5 Crystal Coins from everyone, adding to his own 5, to purchase an Armor at the Genetic Store.

The Primary Level Armor was like a simple piece of cloth, except the material was quite exceptional, neither cotton nor silk, and it felt quite comfortable to wear.

This Armor adds +2 to Defense.

Yang Xiao also had Dai Yun borrow 3 Crystal Coins, and together with her own 7, she was instructed to purchase Armor from the Genetic Store.

Dai Yun’s Werewolf was already an expert at close combat and physical brawls, so increasing her Defense would enhance her resistance.

With Yang Xiao and Dai Yun as shields upfront, Chen Fei, Chen Lu, and Feifei could relentlessly launch attacks from behind.

Inside the tent, as more people consumed the mutated wasps, an increasing number began to undergo accelerated mutations.

Yang Xiao and the others first conducted a search around the playground and did not find any traces of the Bee Queen or the Ant Empress, nor did they see any ants or wasps.

At this moment, the playground was crowded with people; someone discovered a mutated dung beetle. Dozens of people attacked it together, and eventually, they managed to kill the fist-sized dung beetle.

”Boss, the Bee Queen has probably flown away. Right next to the playground is Biyun Mountain, and it’s possible that it has flown into the forests of Biyun Mountain.”

Chen Fei said.

”Also, those mutated ants are very likely to have come down from Biyun Mountain. We’ve seen many mutated ants on the mountain before. Actually, if we want to hunt these Mutated Creatures, we simply have to go up Biyun Mountain, where they probably are everywhere.”

Chen Lu added.

Everyone looked at Yang Xiao, waiting for him to make a decision.

The dense fog on the playground had already been driven back by the crowd. Now, to hunt Mutated Creatures and obtain Genetic Fragments, one must step out of the playground and enter the fog.

”Go up the mountain?”

Yang Xiao hesitated a bit. Biyun Mountain was undoubtedly a death zone now, filled with all kinds of Mutated Creatures: small-scale ants, spiders, mosquitoes, and larger lizards, snakes, yellow weasels, rabbits, and even mightier wild beasts like wild boars weren’t ruled out.

If they carelessly fell into an encirclement of Mutated Creatures, it would definitely be a life-or-death situation, even being surrounded by a swarm of ants would be dangerous.

Yet, in terms of acquiring Genetic Fragments, obtaining food, and enhancing one’s genetic energy, Biyun Mountain was indeed a treasure trove, as the sprawling Mutated Creatures were sources of Genetic Fragments.

Yang Xiao was caught in a dilemma.

”Ha, Yang Xiao, what are you all standing around for?”

A voice came from behind.

Yang Xiao turned around and saw Xiao Zhe and Xu Hua, followed by about twenty companions, walking over.

Xu Hua looked at Yang Xiao and said:

”Are you considering climbing the mountain but don’t dare?”

Xiao Zhe and Xu Hua had also discussed that to quickly obtain Genetic Fragments and boost their potential, the only option was to go up the mountain. Therefore, they had organized over twenty team members with Mutant Abilities, ready to ascend the mountain together to hunt Mutated Creatures.

Yang Xiao nodded and replied:

”There are only a few people with me; I dare not climb the mountain.”

”Ha, that’s easy. We’re about to go up, so why don’t you simply join us? However, when it comes to hunting Mutated Creatures, it’s each to their own skills; no splitting evenly.”

Xiao Zhe was quite confident about his team.

Xiao Zhe had also purchased a piece of Armor, and his Werewolf Transformation had already completed the mutation of both arms and legs, not far from the final breakthrough, greatly increasing his strength.

With Xu Hua, who possessed high defense Copper Skin, as his partner, and over twenty Mutants, he was confident enough to hunt on the mountain.

Chen Fei and the other girls looked at Yang Xiao. Deep down, they disliked Xiao Zhe and didn’t want to team up with him.

”Alright then, I’ll just follow behind and pick up the leftovers.”

Yang Xiao shrugged.
