Super Gene Hunting Ground

Chapter 21: Chapter 21 Mutation of the Black Dog

Yang Xiao and Huang Wen individually interviewed thirty girls, and found out that last night, after eating eel, a total of nine girls felt electric currents in their bodies.

The emergence of nine mutants among the thirty girls was an unusually high proportion, and the mutations had all occurred simultaneously overnight.

Yang Xiao pondered that this must be related to last night’s eel soup; the energy of the mutated eel was strong, capable of triggering bodily mutations.

If they could get another mutated eel, perhaps more people could undergo mutations, or it could accelerate everyone’s mutation process.

Despite thinking this, Gu Bo’s warning from yesterday was still ringing in his ears. If the eel had completed its mutation, ten Yang Xiaos wouldn’t be a match for it.

Today was the fifth day. He estimated that those mutated creatures were continuously changing every day; the ants he saw yesterday on the mountain were already the size of chicken eggs, which was quite terrifying.

The thought of being attacked by a swarm of such ants was frightening.

Chen Fei and Chen Lu were preparing breakfast with a few girls. In fact, breakfast was quite simple, mainly boiling water in a pot and continuing to roast taro.

The hundred or so pounds of taro they dug up yesterday would average about three pounds per person, and eating about half a pound each day could barely last them five or six days.

Although it was still not enough, it was much better compared to the days before when they had no rice to eat.

These girls were quite content.

Yang Xiao ate two roasted taros and drank a bowl of boiled water. He wanted to take a chicken leg from his backpack but held back, feeling embarrassed to be treated specially.

”Boss, do you think we can still go up the mountain to dig for taro? There was still a lot around the pond yesterday.”

Huang Wen asked.

”No, today is the fifth day of the great calamity. The creatures on the mountain are mutating more and more fiercely; apart from Feifei, none of you have any special abilities. Should you encounter creatures that have completed their mutation prematurely, it would be difficult to resist.”

Feifei was now a mutant, a special protection subject, and Huang Wen specially gave her two more roasted taros.

Feifei, chewing on a roasted taro, said:

”Boss, I’ll go up with you, shall we go to the pond and get some more eels to eat?”

”No, it’s too dangerous. The situation in the mountains is getting more complicated. We were only lucky yesterday.”

Just then, dozens of people ran into the playground screaming,

”Bad news, the monster has killed people...”

The people on the playground were panicked and all stood up to look around.

”Huang Wen, you take Feifei and find out what exactly happened, and be careful.”

Yang Xiao instructed, eager to know what changes had occurred outside.

”Okay.”

Huang Wen took Feifei to gather information, and after a moment, they returned.

”It was a small team from the Management College. They went up the mountain early this morning to fetch water from the pond. They did manage to get a few buckets of water, but on their way back, just after descending the mountain and entering the school, they encountered a black dog the size of a calf. That black dog was starving, attacking anyone it saw, and killed two of their companions. They ran straight back here.”

”A mutated rabid dog?”

Yang Xiao’s heart sank.

At this moment, several roars echoed as a two-meter-tall black monster entered the playground. After the black dog reached the edge of the playground, it cautiously stopped and glanced at the central orange Genetic Store.

Everyone was terrified and unsure of what to do.

Huang Wen and the others looked at Yang Xiao.

”Boss?”

”Don’t panic. We are close to the Genetic Store; that mutated dog shouldn’t be able to enter here. However, the outskirts of the playground might be risky. In any case, you must not run outside. If that black dog charges, head towards the two Samurai standing outside the Genetic Store.”

Huang Wen and the others nodded, each holding iron pipes and other weapons.

”You stay here and don’t move, hide the food well, don’t let anyone take advantage.”

After saying this, Yang Xiao picked up the Black Long Sword and walked out of the camp.

”Boss, where are you going?”

Huang Wen shouted.

”I’m going to the Genetic Store to look for Gu Bo, see if he can help drive away that Black Dog.”

Yang Xiao entered the Genetic Store, where Gu Bo was behind the counter holding a crystal cup filled with green liquid, he looked at it, smelled it, and drank it in one gulp.

”Little child, do you need something?”

”Old man, there’s a Black Dog that’s entered our area, can you help drive it away?”

”Heh, I can’t help you with that, you’ll have to figure out something yourselves. That Black Dog hasn’t completed its Mutation yet, it’s still a day away, I guess it’s too hungry. But don’t worry, Mutated Creatures don’t dare to come within fifty meters of the Genetic Store, you and your girl are safe, alas, yesterday’s eel was delicious, pity there’s none today.”

Gu Bo finished speaking, smacking his lips.

Yang Xiao had an idea, and said:

”Have you ever tried roasted dog meat? It tastes even more delicious and fragrant.”

Gu Bo listened, hesitated for a moment, involuntarily swallowed his saliva, but still spread his hands and said:

”Unless Mutated Creatures enter the Genetic Store and attack us, we will not take action, those are the rules.”

Seeing he couldn’t persuade Gu Bo, Yang Xiao had to leave the store.

At this moment, the large Mutated Black Dog was wandering outside the playground, continuously gazing at the Genetic Store, seemingly wary, not daring to enter.

Seeing this situation, the students inside the playground started thinking about tactics to resist the Black Dog.

Although this dog was 2 meters tall, weighing about 200 pounds, with over a thousand people here, all armed with steel pipes, wooden sticks, and other tools, they figured they had a chance to fight the Black Dog.

Many people had the same idea as Yang Xiao, which was about roasted dog meat.

These people hadn’t eaten meat in several days, and the thought of dog meat made them desperate.

Even the people from Xiao Zhe’s camp were tempted.

Xiao Zhe, Xu Hua, and two other Mutants, along with a dozen boys, stepped out of the camp, gearing up to hunt the large Mutated Black Dog.

After a night, Xiao Zhe’s Wolf Claws had become even stronger, Xu Hua’s Copper Skin also had increased resistance, amongst the other two Mutants, one had legs that had mutated, strong and powerful, able to leap over ten meters high in one bound; another’s palms could actually shoot out a ball of fire.

The four of them led the charge, followed by a dozen strong young men, each holding a steel pipe, slowly approaching the Black Dog.

The others, seeing Xiao Zhe and the rest come out to hunt the Mutated Black Dog, were both curious and anxious.

When Xiao Zhe and the others were tens of meters away from the Black Dog, the Mutated Black Dog sensed their Killing Aura and became furiously enraged, roaring as it charged towards Xiao Zhe and the others.

The Mutant with the mutated legs leaped up, soaring at least ten meters, then kicked down towards the Black Dog.

The crowd witnessing this Mutant’s skills immediately erupted in a wave of gasps and applause.

Yang Xiao thought, this Mutant kicking down from high above, if an ordinary person were struck, wouldn’t they die instantly?

Xiao Zhe spread his hands, his dark Wolf Claws emerging, and he rushed towards the Black Dog.

Xu Hua, with his Copper Skin, gripped a three-meter long steel pipe and threw himself forward.

Then there was that boy whose palms could Fire Spray, carrying a ball of fire the size of a soccer ball, following right behind Xiao Zhe.

The other dozen or so boys, each holding a steel pipe, also yelled and charged forward.

At this moment, the crowd witnessed the strength of Xiao Zhe’s team, each of them full of admiration.
