Super Gene Hunting Ground

Chapter 16: Chapter 16 The Worst Sword

Yang Xiao looked confusedly at Gu Bo after hearing this, thinking that he was being mean by giving him the worst sword.

Gu Bo quickly explained:

”Although this sword is the worst one in my store, it still costs 3 Crystal Coins. Moreover, it’s a hundred times stronger than the scrap metal you have in your hands.”

Upon hearing this, Yang Xiao was pleased and asked:

”Does it have any Mana?”

”If the attack power of the watermelon knife in your hand is 1, then the attack power of this sword is 10. We’re even now.”

After explaining this, Gu Bo turned and left.

Suddenly, he stopped, turned back and said:

”In two days, it’ll be the time for biological gene mutation. You should not leave the area within 50 meters of the Genetic Store.”

Having said that, he dashed into the Genetic Store.

Yang Xiao gripped the Black Long Sword, and with a thought, he slashed at a steel pipe next to him. With a sizzle, it cut through as easily as chopping vegetables, and the steel pipe on the ground was halved instantly.

”Holy shit!”

Yang Xiao immediately cursed out loud, and even the girls around him widened their eyes in surprise, looking at the Black Sword in his hand and feeling excited.

With the Black Long Sword, it was like adding wings to a tiger, enhancing their security once more.

The roasted sweet potato was very fragrant.

Taking a bite of the roasted sweet potato and sipping the delicious eel soup was an unprecedented delicacy for Huang Wen and the others.

About 2 meters outside the tent, three girls stood with hungry eyes, incessantly swallowing their saliva.

These three girls had heard that Huang Wen and others had dug up a lot of sweet potatoes, and a young man had stood up for them by killing Hao Lei and his group, so they wanted to come back.

But these girls hadn’t listened to Huang Wen’s advice yesterday and were driven out of the team, so they felt embarrassed to return.

Being extremely hungry, they shamelessly approached Huang Wen’s camp.

Huang Wen and the others had seen them a while ago, and without Yang Xiao, the leader’s command, they wouldn’t casually give food to outsiders. Moreover, everyone felt disgusted by the three girls’ behavior last night and intentionally ignored them.

Huang Wen eventually softened her heart and looked at Yang Xiao.

”These three are also my sisters. They succumbed to Xiao Zhe’s people out of hunger yesterday, and it hurts me too. I don’t know if I should help them or not. You’re the leader, and I’ll listen to you.”

Yang Xiao smiled lightly and said:

”You’re so soft-hearted obviously because you want to help them. There’s plenty of soup in the pot. Give each one a bowl and a sweet potato, but don’t think about letting them return to the team. Otherwise, if everybody starts to betray freely and then thinks about coming back, it will be difficult to lead the team!”

”Yeah, I know what to do now.”

Huang Wen was very grateful for Yang Xiao’s kindness. In this apocalyptic environment where everyone was out for themselves, Yang Xiao stood out by always helping them, which was admirable.

Huang Wen asked someone to bring three bowls of eel soup to the girls outside the camp, and gave each one a small sweet potato.

The three girls were tearfully grateful and knew they had no right to return, so they sat on the ground and quietly drank the soup.

A big pot of soup was finished by the thirty people without a drop left, they also ate roasted sweet potatoes, and finally, they had a satisfying meal today.

Yang Xiao again felt a surge of electricity inside him, stronger than the previous times, and immediately stood up and said to Huang Wen and others:

”Split into two teams, one for guarding and one for resting. Call me immediately if anything happens.”

After finishing talking, he entered a spot inside the tent and sat down cross-legged, embracing the baptism of currents within his body.

This time moving, Huang Wen and the others specifically made a simple separate space for Yang Xiao to rest, since all the others were girls and he was the only man, which was somewhat inconvenient.

Actually, this so-called separate space was only casually blocked off with a few broken boards and torn posters, and Yang Xiao, sitting inside, could clearly hear the voices from the neighboring space.

The other girls all squeezed together to sleep and rest.

Huang Wen also knew about Yang Xiao’s killing of three members of Xiao Zhe’s team and worried about retaliation, immediately arranged for a dozen girls armed with iron pipes and other weapons to stand guard, while the rest quickly cleaned up and rested.

Xiao Zhe returned to his own camp, and the group, recalling how Yang Xiao ruthlessly killed Hao Lei and his two comrades, were still terrified.

These people were college students and considered elite just a few days before; the apocalyptic disaster had changed everyone’s mindset, exposing their selfish, greedy, and lustful nature, yet they were still afraid to kill.

But how could Xiao Zhe’s team, the largest group of survivors from the Kongming Academy, be intimidated by Yang Xiao leading thirty girls?

That would be a laughing stock if word got out.

Even in the apocalypse, saving face mattered.

Xiao Zhe punched a broken table fiercely and said:

”Yang Xiao is simply too arrogant, how dare he kill Hao Lei right in front of me? How can this be tolerated?”

”Yes, boss, if we just submit now, how can we lead this team in the future? We’ve accumulated so much food, who knows how many are jealous of it. If we show weakness, they will think we are easy to bully, no longer fear us, and might even join hands to snatch our food.”

”Yes, boss, no matter how strong Yang Xiao is, he’s only one person. If we all go together, won’t we beat him into a pulp?”

....

Everyone discussed passionately, wanting to defeat Yang Xiao and regain their pride.

Xiao Zhe thought for a bit and said:

”Prepare twenty strong boys. Tonight, when Yang Xiao is asleep, we’ll launch a surprise attack and beat him to death with clubs.”

”Okay, boss.”

Xiao Zhe prepared for the night’s attack and sent two people to keep an eye on the movements of Yang Xiao and his people.

The watchers saw that Yang Xiao and his group had relocated their camp, then came back to report.

”Boss, Yang Xiao’s camp has been moved to about 30 meters near the Genetic Store.”

”No problem, just keep a close watch on Yang Xiao. As long as he’s there, charge over tonight and beat him to death.”

Xiao Zhe sneered. These days he had communicated with Gu Bo and learned that the Genetic Store wouldn’t intervene in anyone’s personal grudges as long as it didn’t affect the Genetic Store; they wouldn’t help.

In the afternoon, the watchers came back to report that Gu Bo from the Genetic Store and Yang Xiao were drinking soup together, appearing to be very close.

Xiao Zhe was quite surprised. How did this kid manage to get involved with Gu Bo?

Xiao Zhe gave it further thought on whether or not to kill Yang Xiao.

Killing Yang Xiao was not really about avenging the three dead men, but about maintaining the prestige of their team, to make others respect and fear them.

Nobody knew how long this chaotic apocalypse would last. Now the entire city was plunged into chaos without government, rescue, laws, rules, or even morals.

Everything depended on oneself, and the ones who survive are surely the powerful ones; the weak will eventually be devoured.

Deep down, Xiao Zhe really wanted to pull Yang Xiao into his team. Unfortunately, Yang Xiao killed his three brothers in front of everyone; if he does not avenge this, his team will likely find it hard to hold together. Internal problems would arise first.

Now, some have already started to question Xiao Zhe’s leadership abilities.
