Super Gene Hunting Ground

Chapter 33: Chapter 33 The Terrifying Bees

”Boss, these mutated bees are much more formidable than the ants. They’re fast flyers and their numbers are so great that fighting them is simply a death sentence,” Chen Fei glanced at the bees swarming the sky and said.

Yang Xiao thought about it and agreed. He might be able to deal with one or two wasps but was completely outgunned by such a vast number.

Dozens of people who had been stung by the mutated wasps lay writhing in pain on the playground’s ground, far away. These were people whose bodies hadn’t mutated and thus couldn’t resist the venom of the mutated wasps.

The swarm of wasps, realizing they couldn’t breach the 50-meter protection radius of the Genetic Store to attack humans, hovered in the air for a while before turning their attention to those injured on the ground.

So, a horrific scene unfolded before the eyes of a thousand students.

Dozens of wasps descended upon each victim, opening their mouths to start sucking the blood and flesh. In moments, only a skeleton remained.

Then, the wasps immediately flew towards another victim.

Witnessing this terrifying scene, chills ran down the spines of the more than a thousand students on the playground, with timid girls already turning their heads away, unable to bear the sight.

In little more than ten minutes, the dozens of victims lying on the ground had all been devoured without exception.

Initially, it was assumed that the wasps would leave after feeding, but unexpectedly, some of the mutated wasps settled on the playground ground to rest, while others continued to hover in the air, eyeing those protected by the Genetic Store as if they were prey.

This behavior of the mutated wasps struck even more fear into everyone.

”Boss, are we going to become the next meal for these mutated wasps?” Huang Wen looked at Yang Xiao.

For a moment, Yang Xiao had no good ideas. If it were just one or two wasps, he might dash out and fight desperately, but how could he fight against hundreds?

Fortunately, they were temporarily protected by the Genetic Store, so there was no need to worry about the wasps breaking in.

Yang Xiao said to Chen Lu and the other girls:

”Give me all your Crystal Coins.”

Chen Fei and the others each took out two Crystal Coins and gave them to Yang Xiao, who then headed to the Genetic Store with the coins.

Gu Bo saw Yang Xiao entering the store and joked:

”So, trapped by the wasps, huh?”

”Yeah, these wasps are such a nuisance. The key issue is that they can fly; if they were like ants on the ground, I wouldn’t be afraid.”

”Did you come to find me because you’re seeking help?”

”Of course, do you have any long-range weapons, like bows and arrows, here?”

”Sure, Primary Bows, with a range of 20 metres, +1 Agility, cost 5 Crystal Coins each, standard arrows cost 1 Crystal Coin for 10.”

Upon hearing this, Yang Xiao immediately asked:

”Are there Magic Arrows available?”

”Yes, there are, but Primary Bows can’t fire Magic Arrows; only Intermediate Bows can shoot Magic Arrows.”

”How many Crystal Coins are needed for an Intermediate Bow?”

”10 Crystal Coins, and Magic Arrows are 1 Crystal Coin each.”

Hearing this, Yang Xiao opened his palm, which only had 8 Crystal Coins - not enough even to buy an Intermediate Bow, let alone purchase arrows.

Gu Bo smiled faintly and said:

”Even if you had so many Crystal Coins right now, you wouldn’t be able to use an Intermediate Bow.”

”Huh, why’s that?”

Yang Xiao looked at Gu Bo, puzzled.

”You haven’t completed the Primordial Gene Mutation yet. Only after you’ve completed it and continued to enhance your Genetic Potential, breaking through to an Enhanced Gene, will you qualify to use an Intermediate Bow and Magic Arrows.”

Yang Xiao was taken aback and then asked:

”Can the Primary Bow kill the mutated wasps?”

”With your current Strength, it’s barely possible, but it’s probably not going to be easy. The Primary Bow can attack from a distance, but its lethality is far less than that of the Black Sword in your hand.”

Yang Xiao pondered for a moment, discarded the thought of purchasing a bow and arrow, and returned to the tent.

Because deadly mutated wasps surrounded the playground, no one dared to recklessly go out, causing those with insufficient food to complain incessantly.

With nothing else to do, Yang Xiao and others like Huang Wen sat in the tent roasting ants to eat. The meat from these mutated ants provided more energy than eels and Black Dog did in the past; virtually all thirty-plus girls felt electricity generating within their bodies.

Individuals like Yang Xiao, Huang Wen, and Chen Fei, who had already undergone genetic mutations, felt their mutation processes accelerating even more at this moment.

For two consecutive days, the wasps on the playground did not fly away, which made everyone very irritable.

Xiao Zhe and Xu Hua came to Yang Xiao’s tent.

”Yang Xiao, is there a way to drive away these wasps? If it continues like this, we will all end up trapped in here. Moreover, the longer it takes, the worse it gets for everyone, and even your food supplies must be nearly exhausted, right?”

Yang Xiao nodded,

”Our food can last a few more days, but in a few days, I reckon half of the people on this playground will have starved to death.”

”Exactly, it’s no good for anyone if everyone starves to death. Let’s think of a way to drive away these annoying wasps.”

Xu Hua spoke.

Yang Xiao glanced at Xu Hua and said:

”How’s the evolution of your Copper Skin going?”

Xu Hua had eaten the meat of mutated Black Dogs and some mutated ants in the past few days, and his Copper Skin was evolving to be even stronger.

”I’ve naturally become more powerful. What’s up, do you need something?”

”I do have a method we could try, but it requires the assistance of your Copper Skin to succeed.” Yang Xiao looked at Xu Hua.

Xu Hua patted his chest,

”Tell me, as long as it will drive away those wasps, I’m willing to exert effort.”

Yang Xiao nodded and said:

”I have one more condition. I propose the idea, and if it succeeds, I demand half of the Genetic Fragments dropped by the mutated wasps. How about it?”

Xiao Zhe and Xu Hua looked at each other and said:

”As long as the method works, it’s no problem, better than all of us being trapped here to death.”

”Alright, then. You send out 20 genetically mutated boys tonight, and I will take you to implement my strategy.”

”Agreed, it’s a deal.”

Xiao Zhe and Xu Hua turned and left.

Huang Wen looked at Yang Xiao with some concern,

”Boss, be careful when you cooperate with them not to get tricked.”

”That’s right,” Feifei by the side also said.

”Ha, don’t worry. It would be good enough if I don’t trick them. Alright, Chen Fei, Chen Lu, Feifei, Dai Yun, you four prepare to head out with me tonight.”

Xiao Zhe and the others didn’t know what kind of good methods Yang Xiao had and were eagerly awaiting the arrival of the night.

Due to the dense fog, the daytime was shrouded in grey, and the night came 2 hours earlier than usual.

Xiao Zhe and Xu Hua brought twenty young and robust students who had begun to undergo preliminary genetic mutations to Yang Xiao’s tent.

”Yang Xiao, we’re all prepared, what should we do now?”

Yang Xiao said:

”Let me first tell you my plan. What do you think wasps are most afraid of?”

The crowd was taken aback, someone said:

”That goes without saying, wasps are most afraid of fire and smoke. Back in the countryside, we always used fire to burn wasp nests.”

”Hmm, correct answer. I plan to use Fire Attack to deal with these wasps.”
