Super Gene Hunting Ground

Chapter 28: Chapter 28: Fighting for Survival

”Everyone, have breakfast first. After eating, I’ll come and arrange today’s activities in an hour.”

Yang Xiao said and walked out of the tent towards the Genetic Store.

Gu Bo stood behind the counter, holding a crystal glass filled with a red liquid, and drank it in one gulp.

”What are you drinking, old man?”

”Genetic Potion.”

”Genetic Potion?”

”Heh heh, don’t ask about that now, you’ll understand what Genetic Potion is soon enough. What do you need from me?”

Yang Xiao paused, then asked:

”With my current strength, can I enter the thick fog and kill mutated creatures?”

Gu Bo slightly smiled and said:

”Draw your sword and strike at me with all your might.”

”What?!”

Yang Xiao stared at Gu Bo in confusion.

”Heh heh, don’t worry, your current strength isn’t nearly enough to harm me, go ahead and strike with confidence.”

”Really?”

Yang Xiao felt his heart race and his throat go dry.

With his current strength plus the black longsword, even a huge rock could be split in one stroke, right? And now this old man Gu Bo is asking him to strike at him?

”So, are you going to dodge?”

Gu Bo’s eyes widened,

”Why would I dodge, kiddo? Even if a hundred of you came at me, I wouldn’t need to dodge.”

”Alright, those are your words.”

After saying that, Yang Xiao drew his black longsword, shouted loudly, and struck Gu Bo.

Yang Xiao felt that his immensely powerful strike met trouble the next second.

Gu Bo slightly lifted his right hand, pinching the black longsword with two fingers.

Yang Xiao felt as if his strike hit nothing at all, all the power seemed to have disappeared.

Trying to pull his sword back, but it didn’t budge, his heart was filled with shock. Although he had guessed that old man Gu Bo must have high cultivation, he never imagined it to be so profound; it completely surpassed his understanding and imagination.

It seems, Gu Bo indeed comes from some mysterious fantasy civilization world, possessing mystical cultivation techniques that Earthlings cannot surpass.

Yang Xiao sighed and stopped trying to pull his sword.

Gu Bo released his fingers, smiled slightly, and said:

”Your strength isn’t small, exceeding my expectations. What is your mutated Beast Soul?”

Hearing this, Yang Xiao was a bit stunned and said:

”My strength is nothing in front of you, right? What is a Beast Soul? I don’t have one.”

Gu Bo appeared thoughtful, fell silent for a moment, then said:

”You still haven’t awakened any Beast Soul but already possess such great strength, which is quite unexpected. A Beast Soul, like Xiao Zhe’s, is a wolf. Once fully awakened, it can mutate into a Wolverine, possessing extremely strong combat power, or like Xu Hua’s Turtle whose Beast Soul upon full awakening can mutate into a Ninja Turtle, having extremely strong defense power,

Of course, not everyone will awaken a Beast Soul, some just undergo a genetic mutation resulting in a Genetic Data System with Strength, Agility, Defense, and Wisdom attributes. Have you noticed this Genetic Data System in your body?”

”No.”

Yang Xiao answered surprisingly, wondering if his body had undergone a genetic data transformation, wouldn’t that be similar to pre-apocalyptic computer games?

What exactly is happening to this world?

Gu Bo smiled faintly and said:

”Whether you awaken a Beast Soul or not, everyone will possess a mutated Genetic Data System. It seems you will soon have one. Hmm, your current strength should be adequate to venture into the thick fog. Good luck.”

Yang Xiao walked out of the Genetic Store, facing Xiao Zhe and Xu Hua who also wanted to ask Gu Bo about the thick fog and the killing of mutated creatures. They nodded to Yang Xiao and entered the store.

Yang Xiao returned to the camp where Huang Wen and other girls were eating roasted sweet potatoes and dog meat.

Yang Xiao entered his small tent, opened his backpack, took out a pack of beef jerky, a bottle of water, and started chewing eagerly.

An hour later, Yang Xiao gathered all the girls.

”Those who think they have undergone a genetic mutation, move to the left, and those who haven’t, move to the right.”

Out of thirty girls, fifteen moved to the left.

Yang Xiao asked those girls who had undergone genetic mutations to demonstrate their powers one by one, finding that only five or six girls had awakened the Beast Soul, while the others simply became stronger and their senses more acute.

Huang Wen’s entire arm could now mutate into a giant wing, but she still hadn’t found a way to utilize her combat power.

Chen Fei possessed the Electric Element Ability, and Chen Lu possessed the Ice Ball Elemental Ability, both of whom could now shoot lightning and ice balls as far as 2 meters.

Feifei’s hair could grow about 4 meters long, and her strength was also increasing.

There was another girl named Dai Yun, who showed the same wolf-like characteristics as Xiao Zhe, her hands turning into sharp wolf claws.

”Chen Fei, Chen Lu, Feifei, and Dai Yun, prepare yourselves, and come with me into the fog to hunt Mutated Creatures.”

”What?”

The four girls simultaneously exclaimed, gaping at Yang Xiao.

Seeing that the girls’ legs were still trembling, Yang Xiao asked sternly:

”Do you want to survive?”

The girls looked at each other, nodding their heads.

”We want to survive.”

”Good, if you want to survive, don’t fear death, and courageously enter the thick fog to hunt those Mutated Creatures, obtain Genetic Fragments, and enhance your abilities,

If I’m not mistaken, the Mutated Creatures around should be limited, even if there are many on Biyun Mountain, there will eventually be a day they are defeated,

Whoever moves first and kills the most Mutated Creatures will have the most Genetic Fragments to enhance their abilities, after all, these Mutated Creatures are also a resource, if we don’t take it, others will.”

With this explanation from Yang Xiao, the rest understood.

Huang Wen asked:

”But boss, why only take Chen Lu and the four of them, what about us?”

”You don’t yet have the capability; after we hunt these Mutated Creatures and bring a large amount of them back as food for you, your abilities will also improve sooner. By then, you will be able to form teams and fight together.”

Hearing this, Chen Fei and the others understood the deeper intention and immediately felt inspired, shouting loudly:

”Boss, no problem, following you, even death is worth it.”

Yang Xiao gave Chen Fei a stern look and laughed:

”It’s not a suicide mission, why so nervous? You have ten minutes to prepare dried food, weapons, and then we’ll set off.”

Yang Xiao also instructed Huang Wen to take good care of the girls at home and stay alert.

Ten minutes later, Yang Xiao led Chen Fei, Chen Lu, Feifei, and Dai Yun towards the outside fog.

The crowd of over a thousand people watched Yang Xiao and the four girls with mixed feelings.

”What are they going to do?”

”Are they going to kill monsters?”

”This damned apocalypse, why does it feel like stepping into a game world?”

”Will they be eaten by a monster?”

”Can they be resurrected after death?”

”Brother, do you have a Resurrection Scroll?”

...

Xiao Zhe, Xu Hua, and others by Huang Wen’s tent were watching Yang Xiao lead the four girls toward the fog.

”Xiao Zhe, what should we do?”

Xu Hua asked.

”No rush, let Yang Xiao scout first. We watch and see, no need to hurry this one day.”

Yang Xiao led the four girls closer to the dense blue fog—10 meters, 5 meters, 3 meters.

Everyone focused on everything happening.
