Yang Xiao sat down about thirty meters away from the Genetic Store, feeling a bit tired and hungry.

He unscrewed a bottle of mineral water, took several big gulps, and tore open a pack of soda crackers to start eating.

While eating and drinking, Yang Xiao observed the two Samurai standing outside the entrance of the Genetic Store. The sun was just rising, and he could clearly see the appearance of the two Samurai.

Firstly, there was the shiny silver Armor, reflecting the cold light; he had never seen such Armor before.

The two Samurai were wearing helmets, revealing only their eyes, nose, and mouth. From their height of over two meters, it was clear they were not ordinary people; the majority of people on Earth were around 1.7 meters tall, and those over two meters were rare.

Yang Xiao even saw their blue pupils, exuding a strong aura of Killing Aura.

As for the broadsword that was over a meter long hanging by their waist, it was truly intimidating.

Is this not a film shoot?

This thought popped into Yang Xiao’s mind, but he immediately dismissed it.

Who would dare destroy a famous university just to shoot a movie?

Kongming Academy is a key university in Xuanming Country, with tens of thousands of students; now, the entire school has turned into ruins. Yang Xiao saw countless bodies throughout the ruins on his way here; this was real.

But what exactly is going on?

After finishing a bottle of water and a pack of crackers, Yang Xiao felt his strength had somewhat recovered.

”What are you doing sitting here?”

A voice came from behind Yang Xiao. He subconsciously tightened his grip on the iron pipe in his hand and turned around—it was Xiao Zhe.

Xiao Zhe also followed Yang Xiao’s example, carrying a double-shoulder canvas bag with half a bag of food inside.

Xiao Zhe gazed at the strange orange building not far off, his heart also filled with amazement, seeing that this boy had not deceived him; the building was indeed bizarre.

Xiao Zhe is the Vice President of the Student Council, having been at Kongming Academy for three years, he was very familiar with every corner of the school. When did such a strange building appear in the middle of the school playground?

”Are you talking about this building?” Xiao Zhe asked.

Yang Xiao nodded and said:

”Outside are two Samurai, inside there is an old man; I’ve been in already, you’d better go meet the old man inside, you might understand some things.”

”Come with me.”

Xiao Zhe felt somewhat uneasy, this scene was too abrupt, really like something out of a fantasy.

”Okay!”

Yang Xiao nodded, gripping the iron pipe, and accompanied Xiao Zhe as they walked over.

”Genetic Store?”

Xiao Zhe saw the four characters, and like Yang Xiao, was baffled, but also filled with curiosity and fear towards the two Samurai at the door. Yang Xiao, having already been inside the Genetic Store, was not so timid and led the way inside.

”Welcome to the Genetic Store.”

The little old man, Gu Bo, stood behind the counter, smiling and giving Yang Xiao a look.

Xiao Zhe glanced around at the decor inside the Genetic Store, stupefied again; everything here was as fantastical as a dream, completely unlike any furniture or decor on Earth.

Especially behind the old man, there were various small glass bottles, multicolored, emanating a strange glow.

Xiao Zhe looked at the old man Gu Bo curiously.

”Old man, who are you?”

The old man, Gu Bo, smiled slightly, twirling his beard with his hand.

”Young people, let me tell you the truth, I come from beyond Earth. Your Earth’s civilization has already been destroyed. In seven days, the period of genetic mutation will begin, and all life forms on Earth including humans will undergo genetic mutations. After seven days, you will face many unexpected difficulties. Of course, you have to first survive the next seven days.”

Xiao Zhe widened his eyes in confusion,

”Old man, what does this Genetic Store do?”

”We collect various Genetic Fragments and sell different Genetic Potions that can alter your bodily functions. You might not understand now, but in seven days, you naturally will.”

Xiao Zhe wanted to ask something more, but the little old man, Gu Bo, no longer answered, instead he just smiled and persuaded:

”Young man, think carefully about how to survive these seven days. Today is the first day, and all the survivors will gradually climb out of the ruins, leave their homes. Food and water sources will become extremely scarce, don’t waste your time here.”

Hearing this, Xiao Zhe turned to look at Yang Xiao, twitched the corner of his mouth a few times, then walked out of the Genetic Store and quickly ran towards the direction of Kongming Academy’s market. Now he understood why Yang Xiao had gathered so much food; he himself had only collected a few bottles of water and some biscuits from the ruins, and he needed to hurry back to gather more food and water.

Yang Xiao was standing inside the Genetic Store, looking at Gu Bo.

”I assume, besides providing potions for changing genes, your Genetic Store should also offer some special Weapons and Armor, like the Armor and swords those two guards at the door have.”

Gu Bo smiled mysterly and said:

”You’re right, our Genetic Store not only provides Genetic Potions but also Weapons and Armor. However, you currently have nothing to trade.”

”What do you need then? Gold?”

Yang Xiao immediately thought about the scenarios in games, isn’t it all about using Gold Coins for trade?

”Hehe, we’re not interested in gold. Moreover, in the days to come, gold will become worthless, just a simple mineral metal. In the age of genetic mutation, the most valuable things are Genetic Fragments and the Genetic Potions and Genetic Crystal Stones refined from them.”

”Where can I obtain Genetic Fragments?”

”I’ve told you, after seven days, all life forms on Earth will undergo genetic mutations. You can hunt these mutated creatures to obtain the corresponding Genetic Fragments and bring them here to trade.”

”Can I seek your protection during these seven days?”

”Impossible, our Genetic Store doesn’t provide shelter to anyone. Whether you survive depends entirely on your own abilities. Even if someone tries to kill you inside the Genetic Store, I will not intervene to help you.”

The little old man Gu Bo smiled while saying this.

”Can I stay overnight in the Genetic Store?”

”Hehe, the Genetic Store welcomes anyone to visit, but you are not a member yet. If you stay in the Genetic Store for ten minutes, you will be asked to leave.”

”Ten minutes?”

”Yes, you have been here for eight minutes now. Once ten minutes are up, you will automatically be asked to leave the store, and you are not allowed to re-enter the Genetic Store for 2 hours.”

”How can I become a member of the Genetic Store?”

”When you sell your Genetic Fragments to us, you will become our member. The more you sell, the higher your membership level will be, and the longer you can stay in the Genetic Store each time.”

Yang Xiao’s idea of utilizing the Genetic Store to get through the seven days fell through, and it seemed he needed to find another way.

Currently unable to hunt for Genetic Fragments, he could not buy Armor and Weapons from the Genetic Store to improve his survival ability.

Yang Xiao chatted with the little old man for a few more moments, suddenly felt a flash of light before his eyes, and his body appeared outside the Genetic Store.

What happened?

Was he really asked to leave the store after ten minutes?

Where should he go to hide during these seven days?

If what Gu Bo said was true, then in about two days, the surviving people would start fighting over food. Yang Xiao had a backpack full of food; how could he protect it alone? Moreover, he would need to sleep at night, and those hungry people could kill him at any moment.

Kongming Academy was situated in a depression surrounded by mountains on three sides, and on one side of the big playground was the well-known Biyun Mountain.

Yang Xiao saw several survivors beginning to walk towards the center of the playground; the bright orange strange building attracted everyone’s attention.

It wouldn’t be long before everyone learned about the severity of the situation from Gu Bo.

Yang Xiao thought for a moment, clenched his teeth, and walked towards the mountain near the playground.
