Super Gene Hunting Ground

Chapter 19: Chapter 19 Helplessness

Deng Xiao is also a famous beauty, a good sister in the same dormitory as Qin Yu. Currently in this team, only Qin Yu, Deng Xiao, and a few other beautiful girls have not yet succumbed to the sexual coercion of Xiao Zhe and others. Most of the girls have already submitted to survive.

This is the cruel reality of the post-apocalyptic world, where there are no laws, no morals, only the law of the jungle prevails. Xiao Zhe and the others can easily find an excuse to kick out any girl who is slightly disobedient, even if it means raping or killing them, there are no consequences.

Once kicked out of the team, they can only starve to death, and it’s likely they would also face sexual assault from other men before dying of starvation. Rather than facing that, it’s better to submit to Xiao Zhe and the others, at least they can live a bit longer without being assaulted by too many people.

Qin Yu bit her lip and looked up at Deng Xiao.

”Are you content with this?”

”Me? What can I do if I’m not content? Xiao Zhe’s patience with us is limited. Now he is a Mutant, his prestige even higher. Whatever he wants to do, no one can stop him.”

Qin Yu fell silent.

Xiao Zhe had hinted to her indirectly, mentioning that he had not forcibly done anything to her out of respect, but his patience is limited. If she continues to be uncooperative, once Xiao Zhe loses his patience, she will inevitably face the same fate of assault.

Moreover, there are too many women throwing themselves at Xiao Zhe now, he will not be faithful to Qin Yu, his mentality more of toying with others.

Another key issue is that this is the post-apocalyptic world, nobody knows what will happen the next second, without the constraints of law and morals, the mentality of enjoying oneself before death prevails, making everyone start to act without concerns, even the previously most timid nerdy boys are seeking thrills.

Qin Yu suddenly thought of her good friend Huang Wen.

Huang Wen, Qin Yu, and Deng Xiao were classmates, and also good friends from the same dormitory.

The only difference is that Huang Wen has average looks but is an academic star, which makes others envious. Qin Yu and Deng Xiao are both exceptionally beautiful, so Xiao Zhe took Qin Yu and Deng Xiao into his group while rejecting Huang Wen.

For survival, Qin Yu and Deng Xiao could not look out for Huang Wen, and had to reluctantly stay in Xiao Zhe’s team.

”Let’s go find Huang Wen and talk, I heard they found a lot of taro today, and also a very fierce male has become their leader. Xiao Zhe and others had a clash with them today, and Hao Lei and his two companions were killed.”

”Can Huang Wen take us in? We don’t have any food.”

Qin Yu and Deng Xiao’s food was distributed daily from the team, they couldn’t take any with them.

”Let’s not worry about that for now, Huang Wen is our good sister, she won’t turn a blind eye to us, it’s also good to go there and understand the situation first.”

After discussing, they found an excuse to ask for leave and leave the camp.

By the time the two found Huang Wen and others’ new camp, it was evening. Yang Xiao was already asleep, Huang Wen, along with a dozen girls, was standing guard. On seeing Qin Yu and Deng Xiao, the three of them hugged excitedly.

After a brief exchange about their recent situations, Qin Yu and Deng Xiao were happy about the latest developments of Huang Wen and others. They had worried yesterday that Huang Wen wouldn’t make it through the day.

”I heard that a tall and powerful male has become the leader of your girls’ squad, has he taken a liking to you?”

Qin Yu joked.

”Cut it out, stop teasing me.”

Huang Wen laughed, but remembering how Yang Xiao had volunteered to join their group as their leader yesterday, as well as the activities of digging taros, fetching water, roasting taros, making eel soup today, she still found it unbelievable, as if it were a dream.

She thought she had reached a dead end, but unexpectedly, Yang Xiao appeared, bringing new hope to their situation.

”Why don’t you introduce your leader to me, what, are you afraid I’ll steal him away?”

Deng Xiao teased Huang Wen.

”Sure, who doesn’t know the charm of Deng the beauty, it’d be great if you could take him away, then you could join our team as the leader’s wife, that way we wouldn’t have to worry about him leaving.”

Yang Xiao and Huang Wen had agreed on a four-day collaboration, but Huang Wen genuinely worried that Yang Xiao might leave without saying goodbye in two days, plunging the thirty girls back into hunger and panic.

Deng Xiao’s words really hit Huang Wen’s weak spot; she glanced at the two beautiful classmates in front of her. A spark of thought crossed her mind—if Deng Xiao and Qin Yu joined her team, maybe they could keep Yang Xiao around.

These were two campus beauty queens.

Huang Wen believed that none of the girls currently in her team could keep Yang Xiao’s interest, but it would be a different story with Qin Yu and Deng Xiao coming over.

People are selfish, and in her predicament, Huang Wen naturally thought of every possible way to retain Yang Xiao, her life-saving straw.

”We now have some food, although it can’t compare to Xiao Zhe’s team. But, we are not oppressed by those stinky men. I also know that Xiao Zhe is interested in Qin Yu, and Xu Hua has always wanted to pursue Deng Xiao. If you two stay there, sooner or later, you’ll fall into their clutches. Why don’t you two come over to my side?”

Qin Yu and Deng Xiao exchanged glances and, after a moment of silence, said helplessly:

”Huang Wen, let us think about this. Indeed, we don’t want to stay in Xiao Zhe’s team, but they do have food, and they haven’t mistreated us yet. Coming over to you, let alone food, can our safety be guaranteed? If we come over, Xiao Zhe, Xu Hua, and the others will surely vent their anger on you. You know, both of them are now Mutants, quite powerful; I reckon even Yang Xiao alone is no match for them.”

”Mutants?”

Huang Wen was startled, looking at the two; this was the first time she heard about someone mutating.

Qin Yu nodded,

”Xiao Zhe also said that many people would gradually mutate, it’s just a matter of time. He said that in a few days after the Earth’s creatures mutate, they might attack humans. By then, whether we can survive or not is unknown.”

At this point, the three girls involuntarily shivered.

The three chatted for a while longer, then Qin Yu and her companion took their leave.

When leaving, Huang Wen tried to give them two baked sweet potatoes, but they refused.

”You keep them for yourselves. We still have plenty of food; it must be tough with so many of you. Take care.”

Huang Wen nodded solemnly:

”You two take care as well. If you are ever mistreated by Xiao Zhe and the others, come over to us. We’ll live together, share meals, share soup; worst comes to worst, we die together.”

The three close friends embraced tearfully.

Yang Xiao’s sensation of electric currents lasted for more than half an hour before gradually subsiding.

”Guess the energy from the mutated eel is potent, hence the strong sensation of electricity. Pity, if only I could have this eel soup all to myself.”

Yang Xiao regretted somewhat to himself.

This was the third day he felt electric currents in his body. Apart from his strength continuously growing and his senses becoming sharper, he couldn’t find any other changes in his body.

He decided not to think about it for now, letting nature take its course, pleased as long as his strength was increasing daily.

He then took out the Black Long Sword given by Gu Bo and observed it for a while before going to sleep with it by his side.

With Huang Wen and others on guard duty, he could now sleep soundly and boldly.

Being the leader was awesome!

That night, Huang Wen, Chen Fei, Chen Lu, and two other girls also felt a slight electric current inside them, but it vanished after a few minutes. The girls panicked for a while, thinking they were poisoned by the mutant eel, but once they realized nothing was wrong, they relaxed.
