Chapter 342: Chapter 187: Beyond Mastery (Two-in-One Mega Chapter)

He had not expected that merely thinking about enhancing his Tokkal Hammer Technique to lv6 in order to kill the Scalewhisker Ironback Turtle would accidentally lead to the discovery of the Legendary Weapon Master class information!

At that moment, Rein felt as if he had been suddenly hit by a million-dollar jackpot!

After all, this was a ‘Legendary’ class panel we’re talking about, which is clearly a notch above the ‘Transcendent’ level!

After calming the excitement in his heart, Rein started to systematically compare the preconditions of both the Legendary Weapon Master and the Transcendent Great Knight.

He was very curious about why one was considered Legendary and the other merely Transcendent.

“Looking at the latter conditions, the Legendary Weapon Master and the Transcendent Great Knight almost completely overlap, so the greatest difference must be the first condition!”

“Any three Extraordinary Battle Techniques of different weapon categories above lv10…” Rein mulled over this sentence, his mind lighting up with understanding.

Clearly, it was this difference in conditions that designated the Weapon Master as a Legendary class, while the Great Knight remained at the Transcendent level.

All three Extraordinary Battle Techniques at lv10…

While it might look like just one condition, Rein was acutely aware of how difficult it truly was.

Rein roughly estimated that if he didn’t have the system and had to rely on his own hard training, reaching lv10 in one Extraordinary Combat Skill could take twenty or thirty years, and that’s assuming everything went smoothly.

For three skills, that would be damn well sixty or seventy years!

Hiss!

No wonder it’s rated as a Legendary class panel, scary as hell!

An ordinary person would grow old before even completing the training!

Gathering his thoughts, Rein then focused on the words ‘weapon categories’.

“Different weapon categories?”

“A Knight’s Longsword and a Bastard Sword should both be considered single-handed swords; thus, the Combat Skills for these two types of weapons would fall under the category of one-handed swordsmanship,” he pondered.

“As for my Dual-Handed Greatsword and Two-Handed Warhammer, according to the system’s indications, they each belong to different categories, meaning I only need to choose one more to fulfill the three required categories!”

“Previously, I acquired the Empire’s Military Swordsmanship, which, if assumed to be enhanced to lv10, would meet the conditions. However, should I choose single-handed swordsmanship for the third skill, or something else?”

Rein thought about it and found himself indecisive for a moment.

After some time, he shook his head, muttering to himself.

“No rush, my Giant Bear Sword Technique and Tokkal Hammer Technique haven’t reached lv10 yet. I have time to contemplate this issue.”

“Furthermore, judging from its name and prerequisites, the Weapon Master seems to specialize in a variety of weapons, which likely means strong combat capabilities, possibly on par with masters of the greatsword!”

“And most importantly, according to the system’s hints, it doesn’t conflict with the path of a Wizard!”

It’s the lack of conflict that matters most!

Now, the former sense of loss Rein felt for missing the career paths of a master of the sword, greatsword, and Sword Saint, which offer extremely high offensive capabilities, had completely vanished without a trace.

Even with the hint of transitioning into a Great Knight, Rein had felt a bit disheartened, knowing Great Knights had considerably weaker attack power compared to Greatsword Masters.

Nothing lifts the Spirit like joyous events!

As Rein mulled over these thoughts, he rode to a river mouth near the coast, which is also where the shipping lanes near Richmond Fishing Port were located.

Scalewhisker Ironback Turtles, much like regular sea turtles, favor near-shore river mouths that flow into the sea.

Because this is where fresh and saltwater mix and food is abundant, and there also grow many sea reeds reaching three to four meters in height, perfect for hiding.

At that moment, as the sea breeze passed, the dense sea reeds rustled.

Rein dismounted, carrying his greatsword and Warhammer, and began to search carefully. He quickly found large and obvious clawed footprints.

He carefully followed the clawed tracks, not expecting to leave the reed marsh so soon and to instead quickly arrive at a beach at the foot of a mountain.

The other side of the beach was close to the sea.

Rein’s eyes narrowed, for he saw in the distance, a large mound of sand situated in a corner of the beach. Despite being covered in sand, the partially exposed body, and the massive size were undeniably that of the Scalewhisker Ironback Turtle mentioned by Haas.

His excellent vision allowed Rein to examine the gigantic creature from head to toe, even from a hundred meters away. Its eyes, as big as a grown man’s fist, were tightly closed, as though it was napping.

The beak-like mouth stretched back almost to the neck.

Rein began to understand why it was named the Scalewhisker Ironback Turtle.

Even the turtle’s eyelids had small, dense scales for protection, and its paws, partially uncovered by the sand, were coated with thick green scales.

Moreover, its lower jaw was adorned with dozens of thick whiskers, seemingly without any practical function but perhaps just to add to its intimidating appearance?

Since the creature was resting, an ambush was naturally the first choice, and of course, with the experience from the previous encounter with the aquatic plesiosaur, Rein was well prepared for contingencies.

If discovered, he was ready for a direct confrontation!

Rein took out his Warhammer and, from a distance, began to quietly approach the Scalewhisker Ironback Turtle from behind.

Wary that the energy fluctuations from witchcraft might awaken the napping Scalewhisker Ironback Turtle, Rein refrained from using fire-based spells like ‘High-Temperature Field’.
