Chapter 319 – 181: Comprehension (Two-in-One Mega Chapter)_2

“Are we already moving on to the third training session? Our progress is catching up with us!” Arturo exclaimed in surprise.

“Not catching up, we’re about to be surpassed,” the young man named Doug said gravely.

Everyone fell silent.

In truth, Master Ganther’s second training task demanded that Rein master the Inner Breathing Technique within three days. According to the display on Rein’s professional panel system, reaching level 1 (1/100) of the Inner Breathing Technique was considered meeting the standard.

However, Rein considered that since he had three days, he might as well improve the Inner Breathing Technique as much as possible, because he felt its unique function held great significance.

On the other hand, Bask had once volunteered the information that the standard to judge whether you had mastered the Inner Breathing Technique was whether you could continuously slash through resilient seaweed for fifteen minutes underwater.

Therefore, Rein modestly concealed his skill until the third day, when he finally revealed it.

With his current level of control, he should be able to maintain a battle state under water for about half an hour.

According to the system panel, Rein was not at level 1 (1/100) but had reached level 3 (14/500).

At level 1 of the Inner Breathing Technique, one could roughly maintain underwater combat for fifteen minutes, while at level 3, it was as long as half an hour.

Although this duration may not seem very long, one must understand that during this time, a person is constantly slashing through resilient seaweed, which is a state of high oxygen consumption due to vigorous movement, not simply holding one’s breath motionless in the water.

This is completely different!

Soon, under Master Ganther’s lead, Rein arrived below the cliffs at the northern end of the island, which was a completely opposite direction from the southern end where they previously practiced swordsmanship.

No wonder Rein hadn’t noticed such an area before.

“Bask, give the shark skin to Rein, and then prepare a tube worm!”

“Of course, Master Ganther.”

Bask took out a dark grey leather armor covered with fine scales from behind him and handed it to Rein.

Rein felt a little surprised but didn’t hesitate to receive it. The armor felt like toughened cowhide that had been soaked in oil, only much thicker.

Its design was also quite unique, resembling the diving suits of yesteryears.

“This is made from the skin of a reef shark, and it offers great defensive power against the attacks of nearshore madfish. Once you put it on, even if you face a swarm of them, you won’t have any safety issues,” Master Ganther explained, turning his head towards Rein.

Rein nodded and immediately began to put it on.

Although he possessed the Transcendent trait ’Iron Skin lv3’ for protection, he estimated that his defensive power was not inferior to the shark leather armor, but he saw no need to stand out at this moment.

Meanwhile, Bask started taking out a brown long worm, about one meter long and as thick as a thumb, constantly wriggling, from a wooden barrel he had prepared beforehand.

“This is a tube worm, a favorite of the nearshore madfish. Your training task at this stage, Rein, is to kill as many nearshore madfish as possible within an hour,” Master Ganther said, pointing at the brown worm.

“As many as possible, Master Ganther? What’s the benchmark in your mind?” Rein asked after contemplating a bit. Your journey continues on empire

After all, having a clear boundary or standard would be more motivating.

“Let’s say ten! If you can kill ten nearshore madfish within an hour, you should be able to move on to the next training session,” Master Ganther replied with a smile, glancing at Rein.

“If you find it difficult to kill the madfish initially, you can take some time to further practice the swordsmanship you are already good at, like those others have done; you might discover a different insight.”

“Furthermore, the first training task ’Cutting Seaweed’ would be beneficial to keep practicing daily; it helps a lot with improving your Inner Breathing Technique,” he continued, then paused before adding:

“You have one month to complete this training task.”

With that, Ganther turned and walked away slowly.

What the consequences of not achieving the goal were, Ganther did not say, but in truth, no further explanation was needed; failing left no other choice but to return to where one came from.

“Okay, Master Ganther,” Rein nodded and responded.

Only after Ganther had departed did Bask look at Rein with an envious expression and say, “Wow, Rein, I didn’t realize you were making such rapid progress!”

“Even Master Ganther is looking at you differently.”

“Oh? How can you tell? I haven’t noticed,” Rein inquired, somewhat curious.

Master Ganther gave an impression of a rather old-fashioned and strict teacher, not one easily approachable or invoking sentiments of closeness.

“You need to compare it to how he treats others. With other people, Master Ganther doesn’t talk so much, he just drops the task requirement and leaves,” Bask explained.

Rein raised his eyebrows slightly; this was news to him.

“Rein, you must be the fastest to complete the first training session, and the second fastest for the second. I wonder how long you’ll need for this third task?” Bask said with a smile.

“Oh? For the second training task of mastering the Inner Breathing Technique, who was the fastest and how long did they take?” Rein couldn’t help but ask.

“Half a day, it was Lady Creya who set the record,” Bask said with an expression of admiration mixed with nostalgia.

Rein glanced at Bask, shook his head slightly, and inwardly sighed that the boy was beyond help; women only affected the speed of one’s swordsmanship.

Besides, it seemed that Creya was the ’one true love’ in Bask’s heart!
