Chapter 329: Chapter 183: The Trial of Faith (Two-in-One Mega Chapter)_4

“`

“I prefer to call this the ‘Trial of Belief,’ and moreover, it is not a mandatory training task. However, I have always believed that only by undergoing this trial can one fully comprehend and master the primal strength,” said Lagaray.

Primal strength?

That mysterious energy flowing within oneself is what’s known as primal strength.

But how familiar, as if I’ve heard of it somewhere before.

Jedi Knights?

A thought suddenly popped into Rein’s head.

But… truly, it does bear a striking resemblance!

It seemed that the concept of primal strength in a blockbuster from a previous life emanated from some extraordinary energy within the body.

Master Ganther continued, “If you do not undergo the ‘Trial of Belief,’ that’s also fine.”

“After returning home, slowly grinding for a few years, you will naturally achieve mastery. The ‘Trial of Belief’ simply accelerates this process.”

Rein understood. The fifth task was very dangerous, but also very effective, and it could save years of time.

After thinking for a moment, Rein had no hesitation and said, “Master, I want to try!”

“I want to attempt the ‘Trial of Belief’!”

“However, what exactly is the ‘Trial of Belief’…?”

“To slay the nearby sea serpents!” Master Ganther said solemnly, his expression stern.

Sss!

Around them rang out a collective gasp of astonishment!

Especially Bask, who had his eyes wide and an expression of profound shock.

Immediately, a sea of hushed whispers filled the air!

“Sea serpents? Those are massive and ferocious beasts! They’re comparable to a Great Knight’s combat strength!”

“No matter how strong Rein is, he surely can’t match a Great Knight!”

“Has anyone ever actually completed this ‘Trial of Belief’?”

“It’s too difficult… Looking at it this way, the previous four tasks are like child’s play compared to this. This is the real killer training.”

“…”

Being a native of Golden Coast, Bask was naturally aware of the near sea serpents and had even witnessed their terrifying combat strength firsthand.

An adult near sea serpent, once ashore, had the power to destroy an entire human village.

With a body covered in thick scales the size of a child’s fist, their defensive power far exceeded that of the raging sea fish. When normal knights attacked their scales, it was like scratching an itch.

Unless equipped with giant crossbow arrows or bronze cannons, the situation called for a Great Knight to step in, possibly to drive away or kill the beast.

Hearing the whispers of the crowd, Master Ganther looked at Rein, noting that his expression remained calm. He nodded slightly, feeling a great sense of approval in his heart.

After some thought, Master Ganther said to Rein, “Rein, you must have sensed the primal strength within you by now, but it must be difficult to harness at will, isn’t it?”

“Yes, Master,” Rein nodded and replied.

“Because only by believing in oneself, having a firm and clear belief, can one freely mobilize it!”

“And for one to have such firm and clear belief, it is very difficult to come by out of thin air.”

“That’s why cults like the Evil God’s rely on prayer ceremonies time and time again to strengthen the believers’ faith. In each ceremony, akin to miracles, the faith of believers is established and reinforced!”

“`

“This is also why those Cultists are ultimately able to wield the Evil God’s immense power, they gave up believing in themselves and instead put their faith in the Evil God.”

“As for us, we need to go through tough battle after tough battle, face all kinds of difficult challenges, to firm up our own beliefs and purify them!”

“When your faith is unwaveringly strong, you will believe in the sword in your hand and trust that it can cut through anything!”

“If you understand this principle, you can harness the fundamental strength of your body and become one with the sword in your hand.”

Rein nodded silently without speaking!

He understood the purpose of the ‘trial of faith.’

It was somewhat akin to the barbarian rite of life and death that Lagaray had mentioned before.

At the brink of life and death, it triggered one’s potential, albeit for different reasons.

The purpose of Master Ganther’s ‘trial of faith’ was to firm one’s belief so they could freely use The Force!

The purpose of the previous four training exercises was indeed to prepare for the ‘trial of faith,’ to improve the chances of success! Rein thought to himself.

“However, Rein, don’t think about the ‘trial of faith’ for now, what you need to do is first stabilize your breathing technique.”

“After one month, once you’ve adjusted and are ready, we’ll undertake this final task.” Master Ganther said with a smile.

“This… Master Ganther, could I choose to go kill the sea serpent near the coast in three days?” Rein said, steeling himself.

He certainly understood Master Ganther’s intentions, and he knew that his arrangements were most sensible.

But…

“Hmm?” Ganther’s brows evidently furrowed, his expression displeased.

Finding a promising young talent so hard to come by, he had just spoken at length, his main point being his hope for Rein to proceed methodically.

Three days…

What can be done in three days!

There wouldn’t even be enough time to stabilize a new breathing technique!

Not to mention, allowing the new breathing technique to gradually enhance one’s strength and speed and other physical conditions, thus accumulating enough foundation to challenge the ‘trial of faith.’

Heading out now to fight the sea serpent near the coast, the risk would be almost several times greater than if he waited a month.

And the people around, upon hearing Rein’s words, mostly went from looking at him with admiration or respect to an expression that said ‘Rein, are you getting carried away?’ as they looked at him.

A few who couldn’t hold back murmured softly, “What’s Rein thinking, to be so impatient?”

“I originally thought Rein was a very steady person, but I didn’t expect…”

“Yes, this is the first time I’ve seen Master Ganther talk so much, Rein seems rather ungrateful…”

“…”

Rein also knew that by making this request, he would certainly make Master Ganther have a somewhat negative impression of him.

But he had no choice, he was running out of time…

“Master Ganther, because in three days, I have to leave this place and return to Meister County.”

“So, I don’t want to leave with regrets!”

“Besides, please believe me, I won’t take my life as a joke!”

Rein looked at Master Ganther and spoke earnestly.
