Chapter 306 – 178: Madam, I’m Going to Forge Iron Properly (Two-in-One Long Chapter)

As Rein focused his gaze on the annotations.

Seconds later, Rein raised his eyebrows, quite shocked.

It was written on the annotations: “Mithril Engraved Plate Armor, slightly enhances the power of witchcraft.”

Hmm?

There is a common knowledge here.

You have to know, nearly all metal Knight plate armors hinder the manipulation of mysterious side energy particles by spiritual power, and depending on the metal material of the armor, it could weaken the power by about 10%, 20%, or even more.

Otherwise, why would wizards and wizard apprentices be fools?

Would they not understand that wearing the hefty Knight armor, which provides higher defensive power, is better than opting for the thin Wizard Robe for battle?

This point, Rein had already begun to feel during his previous battles.

For instance, the chromium-iron set had reduced Rein’s witchcraft power by about one and a half percent.

However, for Rein, at this stage, the primary issue was solving the problem of whether he had any witchcraft at all, not the pursuit of the ultimate power of a certain witchcraft, so he didn’t pay much attention to this.

Of course, as Rein delved deeper into the path of wizardry, it was very likely that this 10% reduction in power would later exceed the defensive power of the chromium-iron armor itself.

Hence, upon seeing that the effect of the Mithril Engraved Plate Armor “slightly enhances the power of witchcraft,” this point overturned Rein’s previous fixed understanding.

Calming the shock in his heart, Rein began to examine the production techniques and process for the Mithril Engraved Plate Armor seriously.

Firstly, its main material is mithril ingots.

Regarding mithril, Rein had certainly heard of it, it is a rare ore, said to have an excellent compatibility with all types of energy particles.

It is considered to have the least weakening effect on the power of witchcraft among the metals, apparently less than 10%.

However, a clear problem was that, if it was solely because mithril was used as the main material, it still would not suffice to achieve the effect of slightly enhancing witchcraft power as claimed in the annotations.

Indeed, as he puzzled over this, Rein continued to read, and saw that there was a process later referred to as “inscription” in the sheepskin scroll, roughly meaning that intricate lines and symbols had to be carved and outlined on the surface of the forged mithril armor.

This step was something Rein didn’t fully understand yet, but clearly, this was the key to why the Mithril Engraved Plate Armor could slightly enhance the power of witchcraft!

Just as Rein pondered this matter, suddenly, a bolt of lightning crossed his mind.

Isn’t that right?

This technique…

It clearly doesn’t seem like a skill that blacksmith brutes would master, but rather seems more like some mysterious art!

Could it be that the late Baron Crawley was not only a blacksmith but also a senior wizard apprentice?

Otherwise, it would be inexplicable how he managed to combine the blacksmithing technique with such a complex inscription so perfectly.

Rein thought for a moment and muttered to himself,

“It seems that the late Baron Crawley was not so simple after all.”

“Perhaps there’s an unknown story behind the man’s death.”

However, Rein soon shook his head slightly.

Now, he didn’t have the time to investigate this, as clearly, it could involve a substantial amount of his time and energy.

His current focus was still on improving his strength, to face the known and unknown challenges.

As for the Mithril Engraved Plate Armor, it had to be put aside for the time being.

Because you have to eat one bite at a time, and walk step by step.

Right now, he wasn’t even a blacksmith, much less skilled in the art of inscription, so how could he craft the most complex Mithril Engraved Plate Armor?

At this stage, Rein planned to first craft the simplest suit of armor, the Cavalry suit, as set out in the first volume.

On one hand, making the Cavalry set would help elevate his Blacksmith Profession Level to lv5, and on the other, one of the prerequisites for becoming an Armorsmith was to independently forge any ten qualifying plate armor parts.

So after putting the second volume away, Rein opened the first volume again and carefully started to review the manufacturing process of the Cavalry suit.

By the time he arrived at Flashgold Town, Rein had the entire process of making the Cavalry suit down pat.

The Cavalry suit had one good point, it required only ordinary iron ingots for forging, making material collection convenient and the price relatively cheap, suitable for mass and multiple productions, ideal for grinding experience.

What left a deep impression on Rein was that the breastplate of the Cavalry armor was a rare “muscle-contour breastplate.”

It is the kind of breastplate worn by the ancient Spartan warriors of the previous world, the kind with contours of the pectoral and abdominal muscles, but for the sake of lightness, much thinner.

At the same time, the process was not hammered out but directly cast using a mold, which naturally did not have the quality of a thousand-times hammered “muscle-contour breastplate.” But in the sheepskin scroll, it seemed that the Cavalry set was designed as the mass-produced, entry-level gear.

“Huh! The breastplate of the Cavalry set is made of two large iron plates, namely the front chest and back plates, which are cast separately and then combined…”

Suddenly, Rein’s eyes brightened. Stay connected through empire

He just had an idea, for he remembered a book on Lingwen he had read before, “Exploring the Application of ’Scorching Touch’ in the Field of Forging.”

“If it’s this kind of manufacturing process, it seems that I can combine this process with the witchcraft ’Scorching Touch,’ thereby greatly improving the efficiency of production….”

“Perhaps, advancing to blacksmith lv5 will not take too long!”
