Chapter 316 – 180: Training from the Master (Double-Length Chapter)_3

This tough seagrass was different from what Rein had envisioned, resembling more of the seaweed from his previous life but much narrower.

Without much thought, Rein swung the Glimmering Greatsword in his hands and chopped directly at the swaying tough seagrass.

…

On the shore.

A young man with a buzz cut frowned and glanced at Bask, saying, “Bask, didn’t you tell him that using a Dual-Handed Greatsword to cut tough seagrass underwater is a disadvantage?”

Bask shrugged and said helplessly, “Yeah, I told him, but he wouldn’t listen, what can I do.”

“It seems we have another who can’t grasp the situation. He probably thought the seagrass here was like what he’s seen before.” Another young man commented.

“That’s not necessarily true, the people Cleya introduces might actually be strong.”

“Not likely. Look at his age, he might have good talent, but at this age, his strength wouldn’t be very strong. After all, strength requires time to build up.”

“I think so too. He’ll likely surface soon and then request Master Ganther for a lighter, one-handed sword.”

“Let’s wait and see then. When he realizes it’s not working, he’ll remember what you said, Bask.”

Meanwhile, the group continued to practice their swordsmanship, occasionally glancing at the sea where Rein was.

…

Under the sea.

As water resistance was far greater than air resistance,

Rein’s normally swift strike was much slower than on land.

When the greatsword chopped onto the soft tough seagrass, the seagrass fluttered like a willow in the wind, barely feeling the impact at all, and astonishingly remained unharmed.

Oops?

Rein truly hadn’t expected this.

His casual strike, which could withstand a blow from an average knight,

Had unexpectedly come back fruitless.

This made Rein slightly narrow his eyes, as he began to closely observe this type of tough seagrass.

Although it was a sunny day with the sun up in the sky, since Rein was underwater, the sunlight penetrating the ocean was mottled by algae, plankton, various fishes, and aquatic plants, so visibility wasn’t high.

However, Rein, possessing Dark Vision, wasn’t too bothered by this.

He could see that the green surface of the tough seagrass had a nearly transparent gel layer.

This must be what had absorbed the impact of his last strike.

Of course, besides this, the floating state of the tough seagrass in the water also made it difficult to hit properly,

Additionally, with the water resistance, these factors combined had caused Rein’s previous strike to return without success.

Now knowing the reason, Rein swung his sword again!

This time he exerted more force, and the effect was slightly better than last time.

A faint white mark now appeared on the seagrass, clearly, his sword had broken through the gel barrier and sliced into the body of the seagrass, not just leaving almost no damage like last time.

Rein continued observing for a while and then made consecutive chops with his sword.

Soon after, Rein got a hint of the knack.

He discovered that he had to constantly pay attention to the direction of the underwater current. When the seagrass swayed to the furthest point forward or backward, reaching a certain limit, striking then would be most efficient.

He decided to try one more time.

This time, his feet touched the seabed, mud instantly stirred up, but at that moment, Rein felt a sense of solidity.

’Breakthrough!’

“Swoosh!” The Glimmering Greatsword moved, creating a swirl of bubbles.

A strand of tough seagrass was cleanly cut, and seeing this within the water, Rein nodded slightly.

He didn’t stop but continued ’swoosh swoosh’ to hack away, as movements in the water consumed more oxygen.

And even Rein couldn’t breathe underwater like fish, so he had to work quickly.

After getting the hang of it, relying on Rein’s 83% physical breakthrough limit made the task relatively easy.

After all, this was just the first training task, and once the technique was mastered, it couldn’t be very difficult.

Finally, before running out of breath, Rein surfaced from the water.

Seeing Rein surface so quickly, the expressions on the shore were almost unanimously ’just as expected.’

Including the one who had mentioned Rein might be strong, he looked particularly disappointed.

Because not even five minutes had passed, and even their strongest, Burnett, succeeded on his second attempt.

Obviously, in such a short time Rein couldn’t have succeeded, so this surfacing was either to breathe and try again, or to ask Master Ganther for a lighter, one-handed sword.

“See! I told you, even if his talent is strong, his strength wouldn’t be. I understand the nature of most noble offspring too well. They enjoy their excellent training conditions but…”

Suddenly, the young man stopped mid-sentence, his expression incredulous.

The others quickly looked puzzled and then all wore the same dumbfounded expressions.

Hisss!

Many people gasped in surprise.

They saw Rein, dripping wet, dragging behind him a bundle of long tough seagrass, obviously more than ten strands!

“This… how on earth could he be this fast?” the young man exclaimed, raising his finger and pointing at the scene.

“Do any of us move that quickly?”

“How long did it take you, Doug?”
