Chapter 315 – 180: Training from the Master (Two-in-One Mega Chapter)_2

“That’s simple, leave it to my servant. Grando!! Take good care of this lord’s horses.”

Suddenly, from a stone house in the farthest corner, a young servant quickly ran out. Bowing towards Rein and Bask, he said, “At your command, young master Bask.”

After settling down briefly, Rein thought for a moment and left his chrome iron suit and pigheaded hammer in the room. Wearing the black cinched waistcoat embroidered with gold and silver threads that Jennifer had prepared for him, he walked out of the stone house.

Seeing Rein dressed in handsomely understated luxury, Bask was momentarily stunned and murmured softly, “He does look good, but this is training, not a fashion show.”

Rein didn’t care about such comments that stemmed from jealousy of his looks.

The two then headed towards the location where Master Ganther had just been.

At that moment, Rein couldn’t help but ask, “Bask, what exactly is this first task?”

Bask smiled mysteriously and said, “Guess!”

Rein’s face darkened!

You’re not a beauty, why should I guess with you?

Guess a ghost!

Seeing Rein’s displeased expression, Bask finally restrained his smile, became a bit more serious, and said, “Cutting sea grass.”

Rein was taken aback!

His steps slightly hesitated.

It wasn’t too difficult; it seemed too simple actually.

“Cutting sea grass?” Rein asked back in surprise.

He had thought that the first task would involve battling some kind of sea creature, with a high probability of difficulty.

Otherwise, why would so many young people be sweating it out near the lighthouse practicing their swordsmanship?

Clearly, he had been stopped right at the first hurdle, unable to gain entry!

However… perhaps the sea grass in this area has some peculiarities, making it quite challenging? Rein thought to himself.

“Yes, cutting sea grass, but this type of sea grass is very tough. I’m not clear on the specific reasons, but it’s certainly hard to chop through. Try it yourself later and you’ll see.” The young man nodded affirmatively.

He was in charge of logistics here due to his connection, practicing with Master Ganther while also handling some odd jobs, hence he was very familiar with the master’s habits.

The first step, or the first task, always started with cutting sea grass.

The locals called the sea grass in this area “Tough Sea Grass.” Compared to ordinary sea grass, its surface is covered all year round with a layer of water-insoluble mucus secreted, which often dissipates the force of sharp weapons like swords.

Even after this tough sea grass is pulled from the seabed and the mucous layer is removed, the inherent toughness of the sea grass itself is extraordinarily surprising.

When several strands are dried and twisted together, they can be used as ropes on sailboats.

This can give you an idea of its remarkable toughness; hence it is called Tough Sea Grass.

“However, Rein, if you use the Dual-Handed Greatsword, it will be more challenging for you.”

“If you knew how to use the Knight’s Longsword, the first task would probably be a bit easier for you.” The young man glanced at the Glimmering Greatsword on Rein’s back and advised.

Rein was somewhat enlightened by why Bask had said this.

Because the cross-sectional area of a two-handed sword is much larger than that of a one-handed sword, the resistance when swinging it in water would naturally be much greater than that of a one-handed sword.

However, after thinking it over, Rein asked back, “Has anyone completed the first task using a two-handed sword? Or what does Master Ganther think?”

“Yes, but very few. The master never cares whether you use a one-handed or a two-handed sword, nor does he remind you. However, I heard him say that you should use whatever you fight with to cut.”

“Otherwise, according to the master, you probably won’t be able to complete the later training tasks.”

“In that case, I won’t switch! But… Bask, thanks for the heads up.” Rein shrugged and said with a smile.

This young man seemed nice, aside from being a bit of a chatterbox.

The two went to the other end of the island.

Master Ganther was still in the same place, coaching a few young people on their swordsmanship. After seeing Rein and Bask coming, he nodded slightly, signaling Rein to keep up. Explore more at empire

Master Ganther took Rein to the side of the reef and pointed to the water, saying, “There is a type of Tough Sea Grass under the water. If you cut ten strands with a sword within three days, you will have completed the training task.”

“Remember, it’s to be done with a sword, not by pulling with your hands.”

“Understood, Master Ganther.” Rein nodded.

As Rein followed where Master Ganther pointed and gazed into the deep blue water, he realized that since this area was about twenty to thirty meters from the shoreline, the depth of water around the rocks had already exceeded two meters.

About ten meters from where he stood, he could vaguely see the seabed where many elongated plants were swaying.

Presumably, these were the Tough Sea Grass that Master Ganther had mentioned.

Without asking anything further, Rein took a deep breath and slowly stepped into the deep blue water.

Instantly, a wave of cold and the compressive sensation of water from all sides hit him.

Being winter, the sea water was much colder than in summer. Even with Rein’s physical constitution, he couldn’t help but shiver slightly.

However, with a Constitution of twenty-one, Rein quickly adapted to the icy marine environment.

Just diving three or four meters, Rein already saw the seafloor where the green belt-like sea grass grew upward. At this moment, a large group of Tough Sea Grass was slightly swaying in the sea with the undercurrents.
