Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 2074: Chapter 2076: What I Fear Is a Mortal Enemy

Investigating Xiao Cheng’s background is actually underway. Cheng Yaozu briefly mentioned it, and Old Master Cheng remembered that Cheng Su initially wanted to investigate the details of this so-called killer, and had asked Cheng Yaozu for help.

Now it seems that destiny has willed it; helping her is like helping our own family. Who would have thought that the children Cheng Su has been supporting in recent years are of her own bloodline?

”It seems like Old Master Cheng accepting you as his goddaughter was an arrangement from above, meant to use you as a matchmaker to find Aunt Cheng’s descendants,” said Sister-in-law Cheng, looking at Cheng Su. 𝖋𝙧ⅇ

Who can say otherwise, it was just such a coincidence.

Old Master Cheng looked at Cheng Su with warmth and comfort in his eyes. She is indeed the lucky star of the Cheng family!

”Xiao Su, how did you decide to support this child?” Old Master Cheng was curious.

Cheng Yaozu wanted to share Cheng Su’s reasoning, but with her present, he refrained, thinking it might not sound reliable.

”I just followed my heart,” Cheng Su said. ”I didn’t expect her background to be like this, to be Aunt Cheng’s descendant.”

No one doubted this, for if Cheng Su had known Xiao Cheng’s background earlier, she would have informed the Cheng family, instead of investigating the killer related to Xiao Cheng.

”In that case, shall we wait for Ning Ge’s news?” Old Master Cheng asked.

”That’s correct. I’ll follow up with him to see if there’s any progress,” Cheng Yaozu promptly replied.

Speaking of this, the investigation had been ongoing for a long time because the killer’s whereabouts were uncertain, always walking on the edge of life and death, leaving everyone without hope and little concern. But now, there’s no choice but to take it seriously.

”After we ask, we should also make an effort, not just rely on others, as this is our family’s matter,” Old Master Cheng said to his sons and daughters-in-law.

”Yes.”

Before, this matter was Cheng Su’s concern, but now, it has become the Cheng family’s matter, all because Xiao Cheng is Cheng family.

Cheng Su pondered for a moment and decided to share her speculations with Old Master Cheng, whether the killer is the child’s father, a relative, or has any connection with her, it was better to mentally prepare him to make it easier to accept the truth when it’s revealed.

Old Master Cheng was not foolish; he sighed and said, ”If it’s just the child’s father, I won’t say much. No one can change their origin. What I fear is the other possibility, that they are mortal enemies rather than relatives!”

Cheng Su thought the same.

That is truly heartbreaking and distressing!

”Let’s not be too pessimistic. If they are mortal enemies, the person wouldn’t be visiting Xiao Cheng, nor sending her money,” Cheng Yaozu, a born optimist, said.

Cheng Su didn’t speak, who knows what this person’s intentions were?

”No matter who the other person is, now that Xiao Cheng has returned to the Cheng family, her life can restart. Since she is Aunt Cheng’s descendant, we should be happy!” Qi Taiguo said as he noticed everyone was exceptionally silent and cold.

”Yes, the reunion is most important,” added Sister-in-law Cheng.

Old Master Cheng nodded, saying, ”When the eldest and third brother return, let’s have a family reunion dinner, and get to know each other.” Anyway, he wouldn’t let Xiao Cheng remain uneducated and live lonely in the orphanage.

Everyone agreed, convincing Old Master Cheng to retire to his room for rest.

Cheng Su stayed a while longer, comforting the shy Xiao Cheng, before leaving with her eager gaze following.
