Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 2056: Chapter 2058: Another Lesson

Upon hearing that the evil perpetrator survived even after being shot in the head, both Father Qi and Qi Fenglian were startled. This seemed extraordinarily resilient.

”Not dead yet?” Mother Qi trembled at the thought of Chiang Qing, saying, ”Such a villainous woman should go to hell. Why are the doctors saving her? It’d be better if she were dead!”

Cheng Su remained silent.

”Mom, the law is well-established. Just focus on taking care of yourself and don’t worry about this. Bad people will always be punished.” Qi Taiguo said.

Mother Qi fretted, ”But if she wakes up and continues being evil, what then?”

Chiang Qing, that venomous woman, was a nightmare to behold.

”Trust the law.” Father Qi said, ”We are good people, and Taiguo is a soldier. Are we to commit murder?”

Mother Qi pursed her lips, silent.

At this moment, the nurse and doctor arrived; it was time to change Mother Qi’s dressing, and the caregiver stepped up to assist.

Qi Fenglian saw the caregiver and couldn’t help but ask a casual question; Mother Qi’s expression darkened.

”Mom thinks I don’t care for her well enough, so I hired a caregiver.” Cheng Su explained casually to the elder sister and father-in-law.

They paused, instinctively glancing at Mother Qi, but Mother Qi’s attention was all on her hand.

It was the first time the dressing was changed, and seeing it now for the first time, the location of the severed finger was stitched together, oddly and gruesomely.

Mother Qi glanced at it and immediately cried out, wailing for her little finger, for her life.

Cheng Su turned her gaze away and left the ward.

”Are you feeling unwell?” Qi Taiguo followed and asked, ”Perhaps you should head home now?”

Cheng Su nodded, ”I’m going home to tidy up; otherwise, Dad’s and Elder Sister’s places remain messy.”

Since only Father Qi and Elder Sister were visiting this time, home needed some organizing.

After changing the dressing, the doctor and nurse left, and Cheng Su and the others re-entered the ward, saying they’d head back.

”Taiguo, you’ve just returned and haven’t rested well, so go home with your wife. We’ll take care of things here.” Father Qi eyed his son, noticing his exhaustion, full of concern.

Qi Taiguo agreed.

Once the couple left, Father Qi dismissed the caregiver and started questioning Mother Qi about why a caregiver was hired.

Mother Qi began to complain, not noticing her husband’s growing ire.

”You’re growing more muddle-headed. You barely escaped Ghost Gate once, and yet still don’t restrain yourself, still don’t value your life. It’s as if you’ve forgotten your elder sister!” Father Qi said angrily.

Mother Qi felt wronged, ”What have I done? Isn’t it natural for a daughter-in-law to take care of her mother-in-law? I think she’s shirking. Look, I’m suffering instead of her and Xiao Qi. When I criticized her slightly, she immediately hired a caregiver, what’s that about!”

”What’s that about? She’s disappointed, her heart’s gone cold. You criticize her care, hiring a caregiver is natural. Spending money is not an issue. It’s you, the stubborn old woman, creating distance with her.” Father Qi scolded, ”Just you wait, this is just the beginning. In the future, she won’t be close to you.”

”Mom, this time you went too far. If it weren’t for your greed... forget it, that’s not to be spoken of, it’s a disaster. But Cheng Su saving you, that’s a fact. You show no gratitude and yet torment her; what daughter-in-law wouldn’t be disheartened?” Qi Fenglian sighed.

Mother Qi opened her mouth in disbelief, wasn’t she the one kidnapped? The one who nearly lost her life? The one lying in the hospital bed, wasn’t it her?
