Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 2051: Chapter 2053: Two Pairs of Mother and Son

Cheng Su didn’t return to her own home but went to the Cheng family instead; her own home was too desolate, without any liveliness, she needed a place with people.

Qi Xiaoqi was surprised to see her come, wondering why she, as a daughter-in-law, wasn’t taking care of her mother-in-law who had suffered a calamity?

Cheng Su didn’t say anything, just asked the old man if she could stay here for a night; what was the big deal, the old man said, and had Xiao Qi take her to the room he was staying in.

Lying on the bed, Cheng Su looked exhausted, Qi Xiaoqi pulled a quilt over her and asked, ”What’s wrong?”

Seeing her son’s thoughtfulness, Cheng Su patted the side of the bed and said, ”I’m tired, I want to rest, you sit here!”

Qi Xiaoqi sat over, looked at her, waiting for her to speak.

Cheng Su said, ”She still fell for someone else’s plot to sow discord...”

Qi Xiaoqi quietly listened, expressionless on his little face.

After a long while, Cheng Su finally finished talking and said, ”Only now do I understand clearly, some people are destined never to open their hearts in this lifetime.” Referring to Mother Qi.

Having gone through great adversity together, in the end, there was only blame, she realized, they were ultimately just mother-in-law and daughter-in-law.

Qi Xiaoqi said, ”If that’s the case, then keep her at a respectful distance, anyway, it’s not like anyone can’t live without anyone else!”

Cheng Su responded with a hum, closed her eyes, and said, ”With respect. It’s my responsibility as a daughter-in-law, I’ll bear it, for Qi Taiguo’s sake.”

Qi Xiaoqi patted her hand: ”Sleep! You look very tired!” He saw the wounds on her face, feeling even more distressed and upset.

She had suffered.

Cheng Su was truly exhausted, both physically and mentally, and fell asleep as soon as she closed her eyes.

Meanwhile at the hospital, another mother and son were also conversing.

”...To blame, you can only blame me, that woman came for me, with a vendetta against me. She is determined to see me suffer, to see my despair, so whether it’s taking Cheng Su or Xiao Qi, either way would make me feel hopeless.” Qi Taiguo said softly.

”But you wouldn’t feel hopeless for your mom?” Mother Qi asked, very hurt.

”Of course not. You’re my mom, if I die for you, that’s only right.” Qi Taiguo held her hand and said, ”This time you’ve suffered because of my responsibility, it’s my fault. But it has nothing to do with Cheng Su.”

”I know, you married a wife and forgot your mom, still protecting her!” Mother Qi took advantage of her vulnerability to act playfully.

”I’m not protecting her. Since your accident, I’ve seen her worry and distress, and also what she said and did on the rooftop. Mom, have you forgotten?” Qi Taiguo looked at her and said, ”If it weren’t for Cheng Su desperately holding onto you, would we mother and son still be here talking? I fear...”

Mother Qi recalled the moment she fell and her face changed multiple times, extremely terrified, and said, ”She was just trying to... put on an act seeing you...”

”Mom, she’s just your daughter-in-law, not your biological daughter, saving you like that was for my sake. If it were you, would you?” Qi Taiguo interrupted her.

He disliked his mother belittling or underestimating Cheng Su, especially after experiencing such an event.

Mother Qi fell silent and said, ”No matter what, the one who suffered is still me!”

”Indeed! Because I am your son!”

Mother Qi choked, completely defeated, because Qi Taiguo was her son, the suffering was naturally hers.

Mother Qi trembled slightly, recalling Chiang Qing’s hideous and maniacal face, and couldn’t help but shiver gently, questioning why this world is so terrifying.
